Chapter 4

Jack froze. "No. We were supposed to watch the sunrise. She was fine. She wouldn't do this. It doesn't make sense!"

Tony treaded carefully. "The restaurant staff said... Wyettta didn't look right before the gondola. Like something was heavy on her."

Jack shook his head. "She said she'd wait. She wouldn't ride up alone."

Tony hesitated. "They also said... she called you. Multiple times. But a she-wolf answered. Then your phone went dead." His eyes flicked toward Rose.

Jack's gaze snapped to her—eyes glowing red. "What did you say to her? Why was my phone off?"

Rose put on a hurt look. "I just told her you were helping me with something. Maybe the phone died... or I hit it by accident. It's not my fault."

Jack didn't respond.

"Get the best search squad," he growled. "Sweep the entire canyon. We dig if we have to. I'm not leaving without her."

Tony handed him Wyettta's necklace and a ripped piece of her coat.

Jack gripped them tight, face locked down, eyes dark.
