Let Me Stay

Karica's POV

The funerals were exhilarating and emotional. Although I didn't know these people Luca died protecting us and I will forever be indebted to him.

Seeing his mother all broken down gnawed at me. Losing a young son takes away part of your soul, it's a loss one can never heal from. He was only nineteen and hadn't even found his mate yet.

I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, my heart hurt. I thought I was miserable in this life but at least I was alive and had this strange power brewing inside of me, one which I had no clue about.

My train of thought was interrupted by a gentle knock on the door.

"Come in," I said quietly. The door slowly opened and his delectable scent permeated through the air even before his huge frame became visible.

I sat up straight in bed as our gazes collided. It was the first time he was coming into my room after that night of the party. And the fact that he knocked showed he had started to respect my boundaries.
