Chapter 11 The memorable engagement

The day when the Chauhan family were getting started for the temple as it will take some time to reach there , When Sanjana got settled in the car, she remembered about Sunita and kritika so she asked her nani 

" Nani, please call Sunita to ask her whKere they are ?"

"Kritika called beta she told me that they will reach directly at the temple, so just relax okay "

 " Okay, nani " sanjana was feeling nervous as she was going to her new journey of life , she was just wishing that she could get all the love and moreover the acceptance of the family for which she was craving .

      They all reached the temple before the auspicious time. Both the families exchanged greetings. Sanjana touched her in-laws' feet, hugged her sister in law, and just nodded at Rohan. Mrs Batra put a kohl dot behind her ear to save her from the evil eye.

       

       " You are looking very beautiful beta ( child )" Mrs Batra stated lovingly. 

    "  Yes, see bhai's eyes were not moving from her beautiful face " Neeti teased her brother.

       Rohan and Sanjana both blushed at her statement-making all the elders laugh at their situation.

   

" We can start the ceremony now "the priest announced.

Mrs batra made Sanjana and Rohan sit beside each other on small stools .first Mrs batra put kumkum on Sanjana's forehead.,  then she placed a velvet cloth in her la. In which they put coconut, dry fruits and some cash. 

     Mrs Dhani Chauhan  also started the same ritual with Rohan .she put tilak on his forehead and presented the gifts from the bride's house.,with coconut and silver coin, dry fruits and some cash.

   Then the priest told them to exchange rings. The rings were brought on a decorated plate

      The priest told Rohan to put the ring first on Sanjana's ring finger. Suddenly all the smartphones of the present people started beeping with messages. Hearing so many message tones, the present guests started looking for the message notifications. Some gasps were heard.

     Mr Batra suddenly shouted, "What the hell is this Mr Chauhan, how could you people do this to us?"

  The Chauhan family was surprised to hear this anger filled tone.

"What happened mr batra? what's the problem ?.please tell us clearly ``Mr Chauhan answered in a calm tone. 

  " Problem. ..seriously you people don't know what the problem is?"Mr Batra again lashed out.

    

"  Have a look at these photos "

  

When the Chauhan family saw the photos they got shocked. It was a picture of Sanjana in the arms of a boy. In the second pic, they saw the two having an eye lock. In the third one, Sanjana was hugging him from behind.

  Nandini marched towards Sanjana and pulled her to stand, the shagun (gifts ) that was on Sanjana's lap fell on the floor. Sanjana was surprised to see the change of attitude and expression on everyone's face.

    Nandini asked shaking her shoulders roughly " Don't you have any shame, what wrong did we do to you that you are repaying us like this ".

Sanjana didn't understand a word, meanwhile, all the batra family and the relatives from both sides saw the pictures. 

Mrs batra turned Sanjana around to face her and asked sternly. 

"What is this all about Sanjana"

She showed her the pics, Sanjanawas dumbfounded by seeing them. she never shared such an intimate moment with the stranger as the pics were suggesting. 

   " Please tell us child these pics are photoshopped na "

" Tell us they are fake "

The truth was, the pictures were real but the reality of the pictures was different than what they are showing.

Sanjana replied, "Auntyji this ...this is not ..."

Nandini cut her talk "what else is left to say, we are dying with shame. If you already have someone in your life why did you not tell us? This decent person asked your opinion you should have told us na that you are having an affair"

  

Sanjana cried out of pain" No aunty trust me it is not like that, I don't have an affair "

"So you are saying that these photos are not real it is probably photoshopped with using your face on some other girl.

  Tell us this the truth, right " Mrs batra tried to handle the situation. She cannot believe that a simple girl like Sanjana can ever do something like this.

    " Tell us please"  Rohan also supported her mother.

   " Is it you or some other girl in the pic, please tell us for god sake its a matter of our lives Sanjana????????" Rohan asked angrily. 

After a long pause, Sanjana said, "It's me only, but ........"

     

    'Thud 'a slap was heard, Narendra Chauhan her uncle slapped Sanjana with such a force that she fell on the ground.

        " You shameless bitch", Narendra Chauhan burst out in anger.

   

The batras were shocked to hear those words., they left the temple without uttering a word to the Chauhan. Mr batra was the last one to leave the temple ., came to parmesh Chauhan and stated ." Sorry mr Chauhan but we cannot accept a girl like Sanjana for our son., and please I request you to get her married to her boyfriend only . Don't spoil anybody's life and family reputation. ".

     After they left, Nitin Chauhan was made in anger. He grabbed Sanjana roughly with her arms.

   "Tell me, who is this boy "

    

"Tell me, right now "

"I will kill him with my bare hands and after finishing him, I will kill you too"

  

Mr and Mrs Chauhan were totally in shock. Sanjana's  nani was in deep pain, as she is again going to witness the history  the only difference is, that time it was her daughter Naira and now it is her granddaughter  Sanjana 

"I am feeling so bad for mummy Ji, she trusted Sanjana so much and now see what this ungrateful girl has done. After so much insult people will start gossiping about her character and our family. In our society who will marry her? " Nandini stated while shedding fake tears.

Sanjana was sitting on the floor crying badly. Her naniji was numb and terrified  of what will happen to her granddaughter  next

"Are you going to tell me or not, Who is this boy?" Nitin questioned  again 

Suddenly  a strong, harsh voice came

" I am the one".
