Alessandro’s POV

The lake house has never felt this big before.

It is funny, this place was supposed to be a retreat, somewhere my family came when we wanted peace. But sitting here now, with the curtains pulled halfway and the lake outside dull and gray, it feels more like a prison. The kind you walk into yourself and then realize too late you don’t know the way out.

I have been hiding here for hours. Eight, maybe more. I stopped checking. My phone has not stopped buzzing since I got here, but I tossed it face down on the couch so I would not see the screen light up. Sandra, probably. Nicole too. I can almost hear her voice begging me not to do something reckless. And Micah… yeah, his name has flashed across the screen too. That one I could not bring myself to even glance at.

I should feel relieved, but instead, there is this pressure in my chest that won’t go away. Like if I breathe too deeply, I will choke on it.

Micah.

I can’t get his face out of my head. The way he looked at me b

  • Straight Until Him   The Ultimate Slap

Sandra’s POV“Enough.”The word froze the air. My father’s voice. Calm, heavy, but sharp enough to cut through glass. For the first time in my life, that voice made me shiver.Uncle Vittorio was still roaring like an angry bull, spitting about the Romano–Duvall deal, about contracts, about “shame.” But my father turned to him with a look that silenced even him.“Deal?” Father’s voice was ice. “Is that what you’re worried about, Vittorio? Not Alessandro, not this circus… just your precious deal?”Uncle Vittorio blinked, caught off guard. “It… it’s everything we’ve built…”“That damn deal would have happened without a sham wedding,” Father snapped, cutting him off. “Stop hiding your greed behind family honor.”The hall went silent. My heart slammed in my chest. I felt my mouth go dry. Then my mother tried to speak.“No,” she said quickly, stepping forward like she could still control things. Her hands trembled. “My daughter will never…”“Be quiet, woman.”The sound of my father’s voice

  • Straight Until Him   Scandal

Alessandro’s POVMy hand was still in Micah’s.It felt hot, steady, almost burning. I was frozen... hell, I couldn’t even drag in a breath. Total brain shutdown. My skin prickled like I’d hugged a power line.Everything smeared and spun. Sandra was absolutely losing it, full-on banshee screams, and my father, you could hear his guttural rumble under all that chaos. Thing is, it all felt muffled, like someone crammed pillow fluff in my ears. And holy hell, those cameras. Flashes kept hitting my face, my eyelids still buzzing. Totally surreal. The whole thing felt like I had been dunked under ice water, every sound twisted and warped.Micah’s confession kept echoing in my head.I love you, Alessandro. I have loved you since that first night. The words were beautiful. The words were poison. The words were freedom. And they terrified me.My chest heaved. My heart was thumping so hard, I swear, it could have drowned out Sandra’s screech. “You have ruined everything, Micah! Do you hear me?

  • Straight Until Him   Micah’s Bombshell

Micah’s POV Swear I didn’t even register moving. One blink, I’m rooted; next, I’m just right there, eating up the distance between us.Alessandro’s got this look. Eyes all glassy, almost shimmering; except it’s the saddest light I’ve ever seen. This dude never cracks, but man, he’s barely holding it together. Then a tear just drops, slow and stubborn, and boom, something in me just gives out.So I grab him. Wrap my arms around him.At first, he’s tough, stiff as a damn statue. Still, I don’t let go. I squeeze him tighter until he finally goes limp, just caves into me, shaking like all his secrets are leaking out. His face is smashed against my chest, and honestly? He just cracks. Full-on sobbing. God.The sound tore me apart. My fingers got lost in his hair; seriously, it was a wreck, thick as hell, but, weirdly, still soft. I leaned closer, lips just ghosting over his skin. Once the words eventually flatered forth, they were crude as well as fragmented, directed solely for his ears.

  • Straight Until Him   Shadows in the Spotlight

Alessandro’s POV I just stood there, frozen, like literally, couldn’t move. My breath got stuck somewhere halfway up my chest. And then there was Sandra, standing there with her stupid smile. It stung. Felt like she was carving my secret straight into my skin with those eyes. Meanwhile, the screens behind her... blaring out those pictures. Yeah, those pictures. Stuff I swore would never see daylight.“He’s with her brother…”“Disgusting…”“No… it can’t be…”Knives. All of them. Their voices were knives. My chest ached, heart pounding like it was trying to escape. All I saw were those images playing on loop, larger than life, brighter than fire; Micah and I, tangled in sheets, kissing in shadows. The truth I had hidden for years was dragged into the light. And the crowd… God, the crowd…Flashes went off like fireworks. Phones rose higher, recording, capturing the death of the perfect image my family built around me. Laughter from some corners, sharp gasps from others. Pity from a few

  • Straight Until Him   Truth revealed

Sandra’s POVTruth Finally OutI saw it.I felt it.The exact second everything slipped out of my hands. He did not look at me. He looked at Micah. At my brother. My smile stayed on my lips, perfect as glass, but inside? I wanted to scream so loud the chandeliers would fall from the ceiling. After all the work, the plans, the dress, and the crown moment of my life… Alessandro dared to lock eyes with him.Not me. Not the bride.I forced a laugh, sweet and sugar-coated, though my throat burned. “Oh, Alessandro,” I said, voice pitched high, meant for the crowd. “You see how dramatic he is? Weddings do this to people. Nerves. He does not mean any of this.”A few chuckles. Nervous ones. Not enough. The whispers still slithered around the room like snakes. Cameras zoomed in closer. People leaned forward.“He is stressed,” I added, waving my hand as though brushing away smoke. “The pressure, the family name, the cameras; of course he is saying silly things.”But they didn’t believe me. I cou

  • Straight Until Him   The Shattering of Glass

Micah’s POVFor a second, I thought time actually stopped. Like, the music cut, the chatter died, and even the chandeliers hanging above us froze in their sparkle. Everyone’s eyes were on Alessandro, and mine? I could not blink. He was not looking at Sandra. He was not even looking at his parents. He turned to the crowd, shoulders stiff, jaw tight. I knew that look. The look of a man about to do something reckless and necessary.“What is he doing?” someone whispered near me.I swallowed hard. What are you up to, Alessandro? His voice trembled at first. “This wedding…” He paused, glancing at Sandra’s death glare beside him. Afterward, he breathed in, and the shiver stopped. His subsequent words tore into the hush. "This wedding is a joke."Gasps. Everywhere. It appeared like the entire hall forgot the way to inhale and exhale at the same instant. Cameramen, shutterbugs, reporters and the paparazzi almost stumbled over one another in order to capture and seize this highlight.Sandra’s
