A knock woke me from my slumber, so I turned over and placed the covers on my head. “Princess Mia! It is time to get up! You have a long day ahead of you, my lady.” Hamon’s voice rang through the room. Ugh. Do I have to get up?? Do I have to walk around the town examining the nobles? Can someone else do it for me?? Some nobles are stuffy and snobby.
I dragged myself out of bed to go and open the door for him. To my surprise, Jabrel was there as well. “Why are you my room, little brother?” I said, still half asleep.“I was going to ram the door in to wake you like the good old days, but you got lucky. Our lovely parents won’t join us for breakfast as they have work.” He said as he walked off with his servants right behind him.“I knew they weren’t going to join us. Now I have to go out and search for myself.”“Mikhal and I will accompany you, your highness. We will ensure nothing goes wrong for this,” Hamon said. He enters the room to pick out my clothes for today.“Where’s Mikhal? He is usually the one that picks out my outings.” I asked with concern. He was helping with morning chores since the maids were short-staffed. My parents must have something big planned. Mikhal will join us soon. I hope so because he is my peace, and Hamon is my wise. Hamon guided me to the bathroom for my daily routine. I love my morning showers as it brings out my happiness. When I exited the bathroom, Mikhal was ready to dry me off. Woah! Where did he come from? How did he get done so fast??“Sorry, I’m late. Had to help with setting the table, my lady.” Mikhal said as he dried my naked body. I sighed before I asked them about the event happening today. How are we supposed to go about this? “The announcement was made yesterday, and the nobles are already walking around. All you have to do is find your winner. If you don’t, those nobles and those around the kingdom will be on a list for your family to pick.” Mikhal explained. My family would pick the richest one out of all of them. But I have no choice if I want to be queen. Once dressed, I joined my brother in the dining hall. Jabrel was chowing down on some pancakes. When I arrived, his servant, Drew, was setting my plate down. He said good morning and backed away. One thing I love about the palace is that the staff cares about me and my brother. The reason why is because we treat them like ordinary people. With love and respect. While enjoying our bonding time, Jabrel had to excuse himself as he had business to attend to.“Whenever you are done, my lady, we can head into town,” Hamon said. Nodding, I picked up my pace of chewing. Mikhal wiped my face as the other maids cleaned the table. It was time to meet new people. By that, I mean my future husband/wife. I loved walking through town, seeing the citizens, and making new friends.Everything was fun until I grew up, and everything became business. I don’t go when I want to; I go when I have business to attend. It sucks. People stopped and waved at us as we were moseying down the road. Everyone’s eyes were glued to me as their pupils lit up. Nobles were everywhere. You can tell by the way they are dressed. Very easy to spot. But chaos brewed once one saw me great.~ Anisel ~This morning, I woke up to Joshua cuddling me like a pillow. I pushed him aside, and he almost fell off the bed. “We need another mattress because this can’t happen every night,” I said as I went to get water. I couldn’t take a sip when someone knocked. Of course, it would be Hazel; why wouldn’t it be? She rushed in with bags full of things inside. “Good morning, Anisel. It’s time!! It’s time for you to become a prissy noble for the princess. She should be walking around soon. We have to get out there before it’s too late.” She stated. A hard yanked came out of nowhere, and I was tossed into a chair. Who knew that she was strong? My brother got a she-man in this life.I looked over at Joshua to see him yawn. When his eyes came back open, he saw what Hazel had done to my hair. “Holy shit. That’s the first time someone touched his hair since we left the town. This is new to see, and I like it.” Joshua sat up in the rundown bed. Chuckling, he told his girlfriend she should be a makeup artist. She is good even though it is a downgrade from being a high noble. After a couple of minutes, Hazel placed a mirror in my vision. “Ta-da! You are now Lord Anisel. Since nobody doesn’t know who you are, your appearance has changed. You can morph yourself into someone else. Like Anisel Armstrong from the Archon kingdom. He is a noble there, and he is on vacation.” She said,Looking in the mirror, I was impressed by how she made me look. You couldn’t even tell if it was me or not. “Nice, babe. He really does look like him, to be honest. I wonder what he looks like as king.” Joshua got up to snatch water.“Like someone who can rule this land better. Princess Mia is great— but she is not fit.” Hazel said.“You are right. I will look better on that throne than her. Now, should we go and catch a princess?” Joshua waved us bye as we headed out the door. I was a nervous wreck, to be honest. I tried to look as noble as possible. Luckily, Hazel gave me some tips to pass the test. My trailer was close to the main town, so we arrived quickly. Searching around the area, my nerves shot up. I was surprised to find out there would be many people walking around.“Oh fuck.”~ Mia ~A sea of nobles and none is my type. It doesn’t matter, as they will go straight to my list. Mikhal leaned close to my ear to encourage me. “It’s going to be just fine, your majesty. We are here to ensure the good-looking ones are on the list.” He whispered. This is why I keep Mikhal around because he knows who is worth ruling by my side.In the distance, I spotted Hazel; of course, guys surrounded her. Why does she do that when she’s into girls? It’s weird. Anyways, Hazel White has been my childhood friend. We used to do everything together because of our parents. Seeing each other has been problematic since I’ve been traveling around. It’s odd for her to be on the list. When I got closer to her, I saw someone that was unrecognizable. “Hello, Lady Hazel,” I said while I nodded respectfully.“Your majesty! It’s good to see you again!” she bowed. There was a slight gesture that Hazel made. The person next to her bowed. “Let me introduce you to Lord Anisel. He came from another kingdom and heard about the event. He came all this way to try to be your future king.” She said,Anisel, I heard that name somewhere. I examined the guy and could tell he had manners, but it could have been better. “Well, nice to meet you,” I said.“You as well, your majesty. This is my first time seeing you up close before. You are radiant as ever, my lady. I hope you pick me to be your husband. I could help you change this for the better.” He smiled. Impressive. The way he talks smooths my nerves. What a calming voice. I nudged Hamon to put him on top.“That was impressive, my lord. We will see if you come on top; for now, you pray. Have a good day, Hazel.” I walked away, clenching my heart. What just happened to me??“Are you okay, my lady?” Mikhal said worryingly.“She is fine. She’s blushing, that’s all.” Hamon laughed at my actions. I gave him the death stare as he shut up real quick.“He just surprised me with his words, that’s all,” I said.“And his smile— which you are a sucker for,” Hamon added. I punched him in the arm to make him stop teasing me. But he was right; I like guys who smile as bright as day, especially with a very handsome or cute smile. It makes me melt every time. But, I cannot do that as I won’t fall for a trap. I don’t know this person; who knows what his intentions are? But man, he was absolutely handsome.~ 4 years later ~I was sitting in my office doing paperwork when someone knocked on the door. "Your majesty, you have company," Hamon said as he let the person in. It was Joshua, who looked like he had seen a monster."You okay? You need to sit down?"He stood there depressed. When he opened his mouth, nothing came out when he saw his brother enter. "Umm, did I interrupt something?" he asked. I shook my head and told him to continue his work. Joshua made no eye contact whatsoever and then crossed his arms. Is this a joke? I didn't have time for this until I saw blood on his uniform. I got up so quickly to the point I hurt my hand."Joshua Dean, did anything happen today? Your uniform is stained— with blood. You must tell me the truth as you are under oath."Anisel lifted his eyebrow in curiosity. Why was he bleeding and not saying a word? There was a miscommunication near the front gate of the kingdom. That was all he told us, no further details of what happened. We all know multiple
"Your majesty, your majesty... it's time to get up." Mikhal said as he poked me. I toss and turn in the covers then bury my head into my husband's back. I shoo him away as I wanted to get more sleep. "My lady, you can't be sleeping in, you know. Guess what today is?""Leave me alone day?" I told him. There was a slight chuckle from him, then the word coronation came up— I jumped up. Anisel was woken by my sudden action. He asked what was going on as he looked at me with such confusion. When I told him that I was going tobe a queen today, he just smiled.I'm going to be queen. After the wedding, we took some weeks off for our honeymoon. We went to America and had an awesome time. Then a couple more months passed as we got situated. Planning a coronation takes time and effort as we wanted certain people to come. Then certain actions must be taken in order to continue on.It took about 10 months after the wedding to make this day happen. I got up and began to wash up a little. We had br
~ Wedding Day ~"Hurry up! Get her ready!" Mikhal shouted at the workers who were running around.“You are sweaty. Relax, my lady.” Hamon said as he handed me a napkin. I can’t relax as today is my wedding day!! It is finally here!!! And I am so excited!! After months of preparation and crying, we have made it through it all. I can't wait to be with him and rule this kingdom together. Hamon patted my forehead.Yuli helped me with the gown, and Mikhal kept yelling at people to look alive. This day better be perfect, or I will snap. Once everything was done, I started in the mirror. “When I leave this palace, I will no longer be single. I would be a married woman.” I smiled.Everyone gathered around me and prayed. This atmosphere was different and lighter than before. The smile never left my face as we headed out. I can’t wait to see Anisel at the chapel. I fan myself as I didn’t want to ruin anything. “Someone help. I can’t control my emotions.” I whined."Get a hold of yourself, Mia.
~ Mia ~The politicians debated, and cheers roared throughout the kingdom as they declared the dethronement of my parents. The light shines through the dark clouds as people toss their arms. My mother fell to her knees, distraught. We won!! WE WON!!Tears began to flow down her face, and being the caring person, I went to her side. I bend down, “did you think you would have taken over? What were you trying to accomplish??” I said.“You will never know the true pain of this kingdom. I kept the peace! I did what I had to do for it to fall in line. You marrying a peasant was out of the ordinary! I wouldn't give up my kingdom to someone who didn't understand!! I did what was best for my family!!”“You were blind by corruption, and you didn't see the people you hurt. You killed the innocent to bring balance to this broken place. You even tried to kill us, Mother. YOU weren't fit to be queen since the day you were born!! This wasn't home; this was prison!!” I shouted.Jabrel and Anisel stoo
~ Anisel ~We were in a stampede as we marched. Our speech had everyone as one and gave energy to those who needed it. The kingdom was in our sights; Mia and I paused our movements as we stared at the entrance. Guards were standing there with swords drawn.Jabrel and Mia walked forward. “Stand down; as your prince and princess, we order you to stand down!” Mia said in a threatening tone. The guards didn’t budge as they don’t take orders from them anymore. Mia and Jabrel were dethroned. The king ordered this action.THE KING?!?! I knew it. I knew he couldn’t be trusted. He was trying to get informa— “You heard them. Stand down.” Mia’s father said. Wait— wait— what the fuck?? If he didn’t order that, then who did?A voice came from above; it was Matthew. That son of a bitch is wearing the royal crown. "YOU SICK OF A BITCH!!" I shouted at him. The family turned to me in fear. I never raised my voice like that, but it was the reason."As the guards said, you don't bark orders anymore. I d
We annoyed the guards by repeatedly saying to let us go. I did promise them nothing is going to happen if we band together. My mother can't destroy us all. This time I will protect my citizens. The guards looked at me like I was insane for this plan, but they trusted me.They still couldn't let us go, and that is okay; because during transfer, we would riot. Everyone else agreed, and we discussed the plan. In the end, Anisel and I will be getting the throne back and defeating my mother. As the night rose on us, “You and this planning things come easy, huh?” Anisel said as he pulled me close.“Perks of being a student of a leader. I got it from my parents. But I use that power for good.”"I wish we could spread the message more than in this kingdom. We need to grow in size. Who knows what your mother can do." Anisel was right. We need more people than the kingdom's citizens. We need that one voice to carry the word around. I lay on my boyfriend’s lap to think more.My eyes glanced forw
She threw her kids in jail— HER KIDS!! What kind of parenting is that?? Just because she wants to marry someone right for her. Ugh! Whimpers and cries were heard throughout the large cell. They threw us back into Satia Prison. The queen knew about the escape plan because of that no-good piece of shit, Matthew. I peeked at Mia, who was clinging to me like a koala. Her head was down, staring at her legs. Jabrel stared at the window, and there was no sign of Joshua and Hazel. “Mia, are you okay?” I asked her. She looked up at me with puffy eyes.“Yeah, I’m fine as long as I’m with you.” She smiled. I missed that beautiful smile and that face of hers. I couldn’t believe she risked her status for me– for someone who did wrong in the past and tried to do wrong now. Once you are in love, then there’s no breaking that bond you built. I brought her closer, and I wrapped my arms around her. Jabrel came over to us, looking heartbroken. His eyes were puffy as well, and his face was red. I felt aw
“Anis–” I got interrupted by Matthew who took a hold of my arm. He yanked me towards him and everyone was on their feet in shock.“You are supposed to be in that cage along with your brother! Why are you in our presence at this moment?” he shouted. The steam from his ear began to form. Anisel had this smirk on his face like he won something. When he stepped forward, guards went to seize him. They burst through that door with all of their force. Joshua hid behind some people and Lily backed up. My family stood in front of me except for Jabrel.“YOU HAVE NO RIGHT BEING HERE AS YOU ARE A TRAITOR TO OUR KINGDOM! BE GONE! JUST DIE!” my mother shouted from the top of her lungs.I was held back by Matthew, who had the tightest grip on me. I said ouch but he ignored my pain. Anisel stood his ground as he fought back with my mother, father, and Matthew. I began to get loose from his grip to push through my family barricade. Their faces were priceless. My father held my wrist to stop me from ma
As we approached the chapel, a stage was set up for people to watch the brothers' death. My stomach dropped to my legs. I couldn't believe my mother would do this. We got escorted inside and to our spots. What are we going to do!! My hands got sweaty as the clock ticked by. Mikhal takes out a napkin to wipe them off."My lady, your makeup is going to be ruined. All you have to do is wait. Everything will fall in line." He stated.I don't know if his words will comfort me this time. That's when Hamon gently took me by my shoulders and made me look up in shock. He moved up and then down to indicate breathing. I have been paranoid since my mother put them on death row."No matter what, your majesty, we, your servants, will always be by your side. Marriage or no marriage, queen or no queen. Mikhal and I will serve you until beyond the stars." Hamon told me.Now those are the words I wanted to hear. These two have been by my side since I was born. The old geezers raised me and taught me mo
