RICARDO

I sighed, rubbing a hand over my face. “Alright… but I need you to find out who the hell is behind this, Claire. Today. I don’t care what strings you have to pull or how dirty it gets. I want a name.”

There was a beat of silence before she muttered, “Alright. I’ll see what I can do.”

“No. Don’t see,” I snapped. “Do. I’m not asking you to babysit a parking ticket. Two of my containers are gone. I was drugged. The dock manager vanished. That’s not a coincidence, Claire.”

“I said I’ll handle it,” she hissed. “I’ll check internal memos, transfers, orders. If anyone made a move this morning under my nose, I’ll find them.”

“You’ve got six hours,” I said. “Call me back with a name.”

“Six hours?” she echoed, incredulous.

“You’re smart. Be faster.”

“Ricardo…”

I hung up.

I didn’t have time for panic. I needed movement. Action. I needed people to bleed for this.

The moment the call ended, my door creaked open slightly.

“Boss?” It was Marcus again. “You’re gonna want to see this.”

RYANI woke up to the sun spilling through the blinds and landing right on my face like it had a personal vendetta against me. With a groan, I stretched, and beside me, Rafael lay peacefully, one arm thrown over his head, his mouth slightly opened.I smiled. For a second, I didn’t want to move. But today wasn’t the kind of day you got to be lazy. Today was the day. The beginning of the end for Ricardo.I slid out of bed and tiptoed toward the bathroom, trying not to wake him. My hand barely touched the door when…“Mmmm… good morning, sunshine,” Rafael mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.I turned back. He was blinking up at me with the softest, sleepiest smile.“You sleep okay?” he asked, his voice raspy.“Yeahhhh…” I drawled, and then smirked. “Except for the part where you kicked me halfway off the bed in your sleep. I was this close to filing for assault.”He laughed, rubbing his face. “Liar. You were curled up on me like a clingy koala. I had to pry you off so I wouldn’t suffocate

RICARDOI woke up to the rhythmic beep of machines and the faint sting of something in my arm.My eyelids were heavy, stuck like glue, but I forced them apart. The ceiling above me was white and a soft light buzzed faintly in the corner. I turned my head slowly, my muscles stiff like I hadn’t moved in days.I was in a room. Not a hospital, but it had that same quiet, antiseptic chill.A single chair sat by the wall. A toilet at the far corner. No windows. Just a bed. This bed.Tubes ran into my veins. IV drip. Monitors. My chest felt like someone had slammed it with a baseball bat. No… a bullet.I sat up with a groan. My hand flew to my chest with bandages, sticky with blood at the edges. What the hell happened? My fingers clawed at the tubing, yanking it off. The IV pulled free, warm blood trailing down my arm. I didn’t care. I needed answers.I stumbled off the bed and my legs buckled. I caught the wall, gasping. How long have I been out? There was no clock. No calendar. Nothing. Ju

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    What’s the plan?

RYAN“I lied,” I said.Rafael froze. His hand was still against my cheek, but the air shifted the moment those words left my mouth.“I didn’t go into Ricardo’s building because I needed money. That was just the story I told you.”His hand slowly dropped away from my face. His brows furrowed, mouth parting like he was about to speak… but I didn’t let him.“I went there for revenge.”The silence stretched, but I forced myself to keep going.“I found out my mother’s death wasn’t some random accident. She died during a crossfire between Ricardo’s gang and another. She was just…” My voice cracked. I looked down, and clenched my fists. “She was just working. Cooking at her restaurant. She didn’t even try to run. One of them walked in, looked her in the eye… and shot her. No questions. No hesitation. Just pulled the trigger.”Rafael’s eyes darkened. “Ryan…”“And for the longest time, I thought it was Ricardo.” I met his gaze again, heart thudding in my chest. “Everything pointed to him. The

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    The truth

RYANI sat down, staring at the document in front of me, and sighed.I don’t know why I hesitated. The truth was already written in black and white, staring me in the face like it had been there all along, just waiting for me to stop running from it. But now that it was here… right here… I wasn’t sure I wanted to face it.Did I really want to do this?Ricardo hadn’t exactly been good to me. Most of the time, I felt like an object he could move around however he pleased… a weapon when he needed one, a distraction when he didn’t. But it hadn’t always been like that. But now, none of that mattered. This wasn’t about what we were, or what we pretended to be. This was about something bigger. About the one thing that’s haunted me since the day it happened. My mother. She didn’t deserve to die the way she did. And for so long, I didn’t know who was behind it… who gave the order, who pulled the strings, who decided her life didn’t matter enough to keep. There was a time he made me feel like I

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    Don’t start with me

RICARDOBang. Bang. Bang.I groaned and opened one eye.Bang. Bang. Bang. The pounding on the door grew louder, sharper, until it felt like it was slamming against my skull.“Fuck…” I muttered, pressing a hand to my forehead. My head was pounding. Aching like I'd been hit with a goddamn steel bat. What the hell happened last night?I sat up slowly, blinking against the blinding daylight filtering through the window. The pain in my head made it hard to think, like I’d been drugged or drinking, but I couldn’t remember touching a single drop of liquor. My tongue was dry. My limbs heavy.Something was off.Really off.I looked around the room, scanning every corner, every surface, trying to piece it together. There was a faint trace of perfume in the air… Lipstick on a water bottle on the nightstand.Someone had been here. With me.But who?Nothing. Not a damn thing came back. My memory of last night was completely blank. Like it had been wiped clean. The banging came again, this time har
