My chin jerked instantly. But gaining my composure almost instantly I said while laughing and grabbing his hand, "Shut up. Stop joking and tell me."

His smirk stayed in its place, looking at me like I was no more than a fool he replied, "I'm not joking at all, Misty."

"That's not funny, Eric. Seriously." My laughter had stopped entirety. What little wavering smile I had left on my face while saying this was just because I was still hoping it was all a joke. Despite understanding falling in my mind that he wasn't joking I couldn't let myself believe the words.

He didn't reply. Just gave a bored expression to me like it was an everyday chore for him. My eyes were still searching his face and his eyes for an answer or one fucking trace of emotion that explained that he was just kidding. But there was nothing.
