Rollins spun around just in time to catch the helmet flung at him. It was Levi, grinning like he always did, wide and mischievous.

“Tough game on Saturday, huh?” Levi asked, running his fingers through his brown bedhead hair.

Rollins chuckled. “Hopefully they are exactly as Coach described, sloppy and slow.”

“Highly doubt that,” Levi replied, snorting. “The Westerners are good, man. Like, really good. But hey—” his gaze shifted instinctively toward Archie, who was adjusting his gear, “we’ve got better hands on our side. And those babes cheering us on?” Levi smirked. “I might just score a hat-trick.”

“Alright boys!” Coach’s voice boomed, filled with renergy. “I’ve been pushing you hard the past few days and for good reason. This Saturday?” He pointed toward the far end of the rink, as if the Western team stood right there. “We’re going to crush it. Not to play well, not to survive. We're going to crush. It.”

The team erupted into applause and hype noises. Sticks smacked against the ic

With a quiet sigh, Cecil finally began to explain.“Even before Archie came to Ironclaw High,” she said softly, “I’ve heard stories about him. About his Pack. The stories made me curious, it made me wonder what it would be like to meet him in person. People talked about him like he was some kind of demigod.” Her lips curved into a faint, embarrassing smile. “I admired him even without ever seeing his face.”She paused, gathering herself.“When I first saw him here,” she continued, “I knew immediately I couldn’t just walk up to him. He’s popular, goodlooking, confident, and honestly?” She let out a small laugh. “Most of the girls here would gladly fight each other for his attention.”“Not me, though,” Ember interrupted flatly.Cecil glanced at her briefly, then went on. “The more I saw him around campus, the worse it got. I started wanting to be close to him. My heart would flutter, and my stomach would flip every time he walked past. It was ridiculous.”As Cecil spoke, Piper felt a gn

Piper's shoulders slumped with a mixture of relief and dread when she saw who it was.“Ember…” she breathed, her eyes dropping to her lap.Ember sat beside her, not gently though, she practically collapsed onto the bench, placing her elbows on her knees, and breathing a little harder than usual. She waited a bit before asking softly. “Have you spoken to Kris?”Piper nodded slowly, her mind drifting back to their conversation. “I did,” she murmured. Before Ember could get the question out, Piper added, “Jacob was right. Kris is… beyond reasoning.”Ember didn’t react with shock; she simply exhaled again, her features settling into an exhausted expression. She expected this outcome. “What happened? What did he say to you?”Piper explained everything— Kris’s confession, his bitterness, the Widow’s Bane, the threat he had made. And by the time she finished, the air around them felt heavier. She let out a long sigh, watching her breath cloud faintly in the cold rink air.“Wow,” Ember breat

Piper's eyes studied Kristopher's movements closely. He backed away, running his fingers through his hair, his gaze turning distant as he reminisced about what happened. “Elsa and I…” he began, his voice low and brittle. Then he paused and exhaled as if the words were too heavy to let out in one breath. “We were mates.”For a second, Piper zoned out. Then blinked. Mates? The words hit her harder than she expected. Shock pulled her brows together. Elsa and Kris? Mates? She would have never guessedHe wasn’t finished. “At least… we were.”“What happened?” Piper asked quietly, her interest genuinely piqued. Kristopher took a few more slow steps back until his shoulders pressed lightly against the opposite wall. He leaned there, almost lazily, but his eyes were storming.“We were sure we would end up together,” he said. “We were fated mates after all, since high school. Everyone knew. We knew.” His voice softened for a moment, like recalling a life that never truly belonged to him. “Bu

“Nothing! I'm not trying to prove anything” Piper shot back immediately. “I just want to save her. That's all,” Her response was so quick and defensive that Ember almost shook.Ember crossed her arms, not buying a single word. “Why? You could just tell the authorities. Make an anonymous tip. It’s clean, safe, and it removes you from all of this.”“I can’t. Even if I wanted to.” Piper’s voice cracked with frustration. “Not now at least. Lyla already knows I’m onto them. Any report at this time, anonymous or not, will point straight to me.”She stood abruptly, the chair scraping loudly against the floor. “I don’t have time for this. I’ve got to go.” she clicked her tongue, turning to walk away. “Oh, Piper…” Ember’s tone wasn’t angry anymore, it had softened into something sadder. Concern pulled her brows together as she rose to her feet. “You’re not being honest. You're lying to yourself, and you're lying to me, too. I know why you’re doing this.”Piper froze mid-step, her back facing

Jacob’s expression didn’t just shift.…it snapped. One moment he looked irritated and guarded. Next, his eyes blew wide open, all color draining from his face as if Piper had punched the breath out of him.He looked like something had exploded in his chest.Instantly, his gaze darted around the library in a frantic sweep, checking every corner, every table, and every shadow. Afterwards, he leaned closer across the desk.“H-how do you know about that? The Bane?” Jacob whispered, the urgency in his tone sharp enough to cut the air. It wasn’t annoyance anymore, it was panic. Real panic. As though Piper had spoken a forbidden curse aloud in a holy place. His reaction startled her, but she straightened herself. “That’s not important,” she said back. “What matters is what Kris plans to do with it. I need to know. What does he want with Elsa?”Immediately, Jacob leaned back, pursing his lips. Piper saw it clearly, his fear was deeper than she had realized. She softened her voice. “Jacob… I k
