Evelyn's POV

With a wince, I rubbed my butt and met Tyler’s angry eyes… he glared at me with so much hatred and disgust that caused my heart to ache.

I must have been crazy to think that just one drunken man talk would end three years of pent-up hatred.

Gone was that vulnerability I saw yesterday and standing in front of me wasn’t the man I laid with yesterday.

He was gone just like the alcohol had left his system.

“Can’t you hear me? What the fuck are you still doing here?” He thundered, causing me to flinch.

“Don’t you remember Ty?” I dared ask.

“Yesterday was our anniversary Ty and you came in here drunk…” I added quietly avoiding his eyes, but I could still feel the intensity of his glare.

If looks could kill, I’d be dead, but I was ready for this… I didn’t regret lying in his warmth even though it was just for a few hours.

“We share no relationship, woman why were you laying on my body… you really have some nerve!” He snarled, venoms dripping from his words.

“You came home drunk, I wanted to leave, but you stopped me, so I just stayed… ”, I began and boldly walked towards him.

“Do you really not remember Ty… You said you loved me, You apologized…” My words trailed off as he slapped me before pushing me back once again.

Instinctively, I raised to cradle my cheeks in surprise, with tears streaming down I whispered, “why?”

“I was drunk, and you decided to take advantage of me!”

“What the fuck is wrong with you!” He continued his hatred glaring right in my face and just then the door opened, I watched my best friend walk in and hurried to his side.

“What is with the blood everywhere?” She asked not even bothering to look at me.

The blood was mine from the broken glass last night, I wanted to say but just let the tears drop as I stared at Tyler while wondering why Alicia would comfortably enter my matrimonial bedroom and cling to my husband!

“Evelyn just made me lose it!” He spat with so much disdain and my best friend asked instead of being worried about me, “is she still so desperate?”

Desperate?

This was my husband.

I didn’t understand what was going on here, but alarms in my head were blaring.

Alicia, my supposed best friend had walked in and saw me clenching my face but said nothing and rather ran to my husband's side?

“What are you doing here? In my husband's arms?” I asked her, wiping away my tears and rather than an answer, she burst into laughter.

“Baby, why haven't I told her?” She finally asked Tyler that took a look in his eyes I couldn’t decipher.

“Told me what?” I pressed the feeling of dread feeling me up once more.

“You will be stepping down as Luna tomorrow, Alicia is pregnant with my child.” Tyler just casually said, his words a punch to my gut.

I took steps backwards, my eyes wide in surprise while Alicia held my gaze with a smirk.

What?

“Why?” I asked heartbroken, but he didn’t even look guilty.

“Alicia, you are supposed to be my best friend!” I burst into tears and with that smug look she asked, “What were you expecting, I mean he needs a child, and he can’t have one with a traitor!”

“It’s been three years Tyler and to taunt me for a crime I didn’t commit you and sleep with this slut?!” I yelled and Alicia moved to slap me when I held her back.

Never again.

Was this what he meant when he asked for forgiveness yesterday?

“This has nothing to do with that, Alicia is with my child and I have no choice here” he said softly, and I couldn’t almost hear the guilt in his voice, but I knew better.

I burst into laughter, and they watched me confused as I laughed away my pain.

“How would you have reacted if I told you I had slept with another man and was pregnant?” I asked, my eyes locked on Tyler’s.

His face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger and I watched as his jaw clenched, and his fists curled at his sides.

For a moment, I thought he might lunge at me. “You would never do that,” he growled, his voice low and menacing but to me, it looked so comical.

What a hypocrite!

“You're my mate.” The word was laced with possessiveness, and would have caused a shiver run down my spine in delight, but I couldn’t feel it.

All I felt was anger!

The pain of betrayal!

But I just laughed again, the sound tearing from my throat. “That's rich, coming from you,” I spat, my eyes blazing with anger. “You, who have betrayed me in the worst possible way.”

“I stayed! I prayed! I hoped! I wasn’t about to walk out on our vows because you thought I did what I didn’t do and what did you do?” I cried out.

Alicia scoffed but thankfully said nothing, for her own good.

“How much more do I have to take before you let all this go? Before you think I have paid enough!” I begged, but the indifference in his look told me all I needed to know before he said anything.

“She was my only family, you know how I felt about her, yet you are asking me when your punishment will be enough?” He finally spoke, his eyes clouded with an emotion I couldn’t decipher.

It was never going to be enough to fill the void in him!

He was broken, and I knew I couldn’t fix it… I was done trying too!

“You are unredeemable! You must be crazy to think that I would take this too! I was ready to take everything but this…”

I glared at Alicia, “You and this snake?” I added before laughing again.

I should have done this a long time ago, but I was stuck… All I used to see was the man I had fallen in love with until today!

“Yesterday you asked me to stay, you asked me to forgive you… you gave me hope before crushing it all over again!” I continued holding his gaze and ignoring his bitch.

Interrupting, Alicia sneered, “Shut up! And enough of your drama, you should have thought about this when you let your dad go… you should have run away with him”.

Looking at her, I wondered where that attitude had been a while ago.

Was this what she meant when she promised to help be a mediator?

I should have known the signs were there, but I ignored them because of Love?

Love was nothing but a myth.

“That’s all I keep asking myself, but I won’t step down for your pregnant mistress!” I said, my voice cracking slowly.

With a frown, he coldly said, “You leave me no choice…”

Stopping him before he insulted me any further, “I’ll leave both of you to it… this is the last day you would see me cry, I am done with this stupid charade”

“I, Evelyn Carter hereby annul whatever had bound us, Alpha Tyler Blackwood”, ignoring his angry call, I walked out without looking back.

I pray we never have to cross paths again, Alpha Tyler.

EvelynI didn’t know where I was going.Didn’t care, honestly.I just walked, feet dragging, mind spinning, the air thick like it knew something I didn’t. There was no destination. No reason. I just kept moving forward like I was going to magically end up somewhere that felt right, somewhere that made sense.Spoiler alert, I didn’t.The mansion faded behind me with every slow step, the hum of Redwood’s streets dulling into the kind of silence that made you think too damn much. The breeze had that strange eclipse stillness, like even the wind wasn’t sure whether to keep moving. It brushed gently across my face, cool but not cold, like it pitied me.The pain came in waves.Grief. Regret. Anger. All of it circling like vultures around whatever was left of my sanity. I don’t even know what triggered it, maybe it was Damien, maybe it was the stupid nightmare, or maybe I just hit my emotional quota for the year.I didn’t even realize how far I’d gone until my boot tapped the edge of somethi

EvelynOnce it really hit me, what was going on with everyone, my first instinct was to find Leo.I mean, obviously. If anyone could figure out what the hell we were supposed to do during a celestial hangover apocalypse, it was him. I turned fast on my heel, about to sprint off toward the east wing where he usually disappeared when things got weird, but then I stopped dead in my tracks.Wait.I blinked, breathing in deeply.Again.What the…?I wasn’t winded. My legs weren’t shaking. My head wasn’t pounding. My wolf didn’t feel like it was buried under twenty pounds of lead. Actually, I felt fine.Like… fine-fine.“What the fuck?” I whispered to myself, glancing around to make sure no one heard me.I stood completely still for a moment and just listened. My heartbeat was steady. My body didn’t ache. There wasn’t a drop of nausea in sight. Meanwhile, everyone else was stumbling around like drunk toddlers on stilts, and I was over here standing like I’d just done a yoga session with brea

Evelyn“Ahh—!”I gasped sharply as my eyes flew open. The air around me felt thick and cold, and I blinked fast, over and over, trying to make out anything. Everything was dark—like, pitch dark. Not even that gentle blue kind of dark your eyes eventually adjust to. This was like I’d been shoved inside a black velvet box and slammed shut.My breathing came fast. Way too fast. Chest rising and falling like I’d been running. “What the hell…” I muttered, reaching up to rub at my eyes. They burned like hell, heavy and strained, like I’d been crying in my sleep or had rubbed them raw without realizing.Come on, come on. Focus.I kept blinking, rubbing, hoping something, anything, would come into view. I tried to feel beneath me. Grass? Dirt? I couldn’t tell. And then, whoosh.“Ah—!”Something shot past my left ear like wind with weight, like a shadow that moved too close and way too fast.I jerked my head toward the sound, hands dropping from my eyes in reflex. And just like that… the darkn

Evelyn “Really?” I asked, trying to keep my face as unimpressed as my voice, but a bit of curiosity still snuck through. Tyler nodded like I’d just asked him if water was wet. “Yeah. Elsie’s just one of the things Bluestone doesn’t have, and Redwood can’t compete.” I let out a fake little “ha-ha-haaa”, dry as hell, and walked toward the bed. I sat down with a dramatic flop, pressing my palm over my face like I couldn’t believe I was still listening to him. “Oh mehh… here we go.” Tyler didn’t even flinch. He was clearly enjoying this. He leaned casually against my desk, arms folded, wearing that smug look that always made me want to both punch and kiss him at the same time. Ugh. “And,” he continued, clearly not finished, “I bet Redwood doesn’t have a fancy archive either. Not like Bluestone’s. We’ve got scrolls from centuries ago, handwritten records, spell documents, war logs. I mean, come on—this place barely has a bookshelf.” I tilted my head slowly and squinted at him

Evelyn. Tyler turned his head slowly, real slow, like some cowboy in a Western showdown. “And who the hell is gonna stop me?”Leo didn’t flinch. “I am.”Then his eyes glowed. No really, they glowed. That deep red color that only came out when he was done playing nice and ready to throw hands.Tyler scoffed and turned fully to him now, his shoulders squaring up. “I’d love to see you try.”And of course, both of them had to puff out their chests like two overgrown hormonal wolves with something to prove. I swear to God, I could feel the testosterone fog forming in the air. Thick, suffocating, and incredibly annoying.“Ugh,” I groaned, stepping between them, throwing my hands up. “Okay! That’s ENOUGH. What is this, a dick-measuring contest?!”Neither of them responded. Great. Classic.Leo clenched his jaw and pointed at Tyler. “She’s not going anywhere. Especially not Bluestone. Redwood is her home. It has been for two years.”Tyler growled,.not even subtly, like actually growled, which

Evelyn. (Flashback continuation)The other boys hooted, and I saw one of them shove the loudmouth in the shoulder as they passed, laughing harder at Damien’s comeback than the original insult. It took everything in me not to burst into laughter right then and there.I turned to him. “Thank you,” I said, genuinely. “You didn’t have to do that.”He shrugged, still holding the umbrella above me. “Didn’t seem right, watching everyone act like dicks.”I laughed, just a little. He looked at me like he hadn’t been trying to be funny but didn’t mind that he made me smile.“I’m Evelyn,” I offered, shifting the soggy folder under my arm. “In case you wanted to know whose day you just saved.”He nodded slowly, thoughtful. Then held out his hand. “Damien.”His palm was warm even in the cold rain. Firm shake. Confident. Strange for someone his age.“You’re freezing,” he added bluntly, eyeing my arms. “Do you live nearby?”“Kind of. But I was supposed to turn in these papers…” I held up the drippi
