Evelyn

I jerked upright, heart pounding like I’d been yanked out of a nightmare. My neck ached, and my spine protested as I sat there, blinking into the dim candlelight.

The book I’d been reading had fallen closed on my lap, and my hand was still loosely curled around a pencil I didn’t remember grabbing.

Again.

I’d dozed off in the archive, again.

I rubbed my face and exhaled slowly. The dryness in my throat told me I hadn’t drunk anything in hours. The rumble in my stomach confirmed I hadn’t eaten in… I didn’t even know when.

How long had it been this time?

I turned toward the small, arched window built into the stone wall behind me. It was dark outside. No surprise there. But the darkness didn’t help=there had been nights, plural, since I started digging through this history. And somewhere along the line, time had blurred and bent itself around these dusty tomes and broken candle stubs.

I wasn’t even sure what day it was anymore.

I pushed the book off my lap and stood slowly. My le

EvelynThe sky outside looked like it was bleeding silver. Clouds parted just enough for the full moon to assert itself, dominant and cold, casting its glow over the compound like it owned us all. And in a way, it did.I stood by the doorway, arms folded tightly, watching as wolves, strong, trained wolves, buckled under its power. Groans echoed from the hallways. Somewhere, a table shattered. Another low growl rang out like a warning."They're losing it," Tyler muttered from across the room.I turned to see him standing at the window, the moonlight slicing across his face, his expression locked somewhere between frustration and calculation. His eyes glowed faintly, a clear sign he was suppressing the shift with everything he had."They're getting worse by the minute," he added, his voice tight.Christian was lounging on the edge of the couch, forehead resting in one hand, his tone as dry as ever. "No shit. The moon’s decided to screw with us harder than usual."His head lifted just e

EvelynThere’s something eerie about a full moon, even when you’re used to it.Maybe it’s the stillness that comes before it rises, like the world itself is holding its breath. Or maybe it’s the way the air thickens, almost humming with something ancient. Something wild. Something dangerous.I stood by the window of my room, arms crossed tightly over my chest, eyes fixed on the silver glow bleeding into the clouds. My reflection stared back at me from the glass, calm, still, too calm. That was the part that unsettled me. I should’ve been pacing, sweating, trembling like every other wolf in this house. The moon was rising, and with it, every part of me should have been preparing to shift. But instead… nothing. No heat beneath my skin. No restlessness in my bones. Just silence. It wasn’t natural.Every once a month, like clockwork, when the moon reached its apex, it took control. It didn’t matter who you were, alpha, beta, omega, if you weren’t strong enough to keep your mind tethered,

EvelynThe first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes wasn’t the light seeping through the thin curtains or the weight of sleep still clinging to my limbs, it was Leo.He was sitting on the edge of the couch across the room, hunched forward, elbows on his knees, fingers pressing hard into his temples. His back was tight with tension, jaw clenched like he was fighting off something invisible. I blinked a few times, letting the fuzziness in my vision clear. My heart dropped.I pushed the covers off and got to my feet. “Leo?”He didn’t look up.I moved quickly across the room, kneeling down beside him. “Leo,” I said again, softer this time. “What’s wrong?”He finally turned his head toward me, eyes bloodshot and rimmed with pain. “It’s fine,” he muttered, though his voice was rough and far from convincing. “It’ll pass.”“No, it won’t,” I whispered. “And you know it"His fingers twitched, and he pulled his hands away from his head slowly. He didn’t speak. He didn’t have to. I knew. The s

EvelynShe walked closer, her eyes skimming the scattered pages in front of me. “You’ve been reading that same stack since yesterday morning.”“Feels like I’m chasing ghosts,” I muttered, leaning back against the chair. “Every answer leads to more questions.”Elsie tilted her head gently. “That’s how truth works. It doesn’t like to be easy.”She reached out, brushing a lock of hair behind my ear like she used to when I was still the Luna and didn’t know betrayal could wear a crown. That simple touch almost unraveled me.“You should rest,” she said softly. “You’ve been through too much. Your body needs time.”“I can’t,” I whispered. “Not yet.”She didn’t push. Elsie never did. Instead, she glanced down at the page I’d marked and raised a brow.“You’re reading about the old Blackwood Alpha?” she asked.I nodded. She hesitated for a second, then added, “My grandmother used to tell stories about Theron Blackwood. Said he was kinder than most Alphas of his time. Stricter, but kind.”I blin

Evelyn’s POVI had to admit, there was something about the archive that always managed to pull me in. The air smelled of dust, old paper, and ink, as if the very walls whispered the secrets of generations long gone. The history books and records piled on shelves, stacked neatly in rows, felt like a weight I could never escape from, even if I wanted to. It was like the past was waiting for me to discover something, to understand something, and I was getting closer to it with every page I turned.--I was still in the Bluestone archive, buried in ancient texts, with dust clinging to my fingertips and the faint scent of aged parchment curling through the air. The silence of the library had long since turned comforting. There was no chaos here, no fighting Alphas, no hovering doctors, no venomous stares from women who wished I didn’t exist. Just me, my thoughts, and a stack of books older than the country’s constitution.I turned another page slowly, the sound crisp in the quiet. My e

EvelynIt’s been a few days since I was discharged from Ava’s hospital. Honestly, it still feels a little surreal. Like everything that happened in the last few weeks has been someone else's story and not mine. I keep waiting to wake up and find myself in my old bedroom, with none of this pain or chaos stitched into my skin. But every morning when I open my eyes, the reality hits me all over again. The doctors had one clear instruction: stay away from stress.Right. Because that’s so easy with Christian and Tyler acting like overgrown toddlers fighting for the last slice of pizza, except the pizza is me, apparently. Every damn day since I left the hospital, the two of them have gone at it, arguing over who knows best, who cares more, who should be the one making decisions about my care. I’m surprised they haven’t killed each other by now.A few nights ago, Christian barged into my room with that intense glare of his and suggested I move to Crescent. He said I’d be safer there, more

Evelyn’s POVEverything felt like it was moving in slow motion. The light pierced through my eyelids before I could even open them. Too damn bright. I squinted, letting my lashes flutter just a little, trying to ease into it. My head felt heavy, like someone had dropped a brick into my skull. For a second, I thought I was dreaming, floating between the ache and the haze, but then the pain in my abdomen reminded me, in a cruel flash, that this was very much real.I let out a soft groan, blinking until the ceiling above me came into focus. White. Sterile. Familiar. It smelled like alcohol, antiseptic, and faint lavender, Dr. Ava’s signature scent.I was in a hospital. No… Ava’s hospital.“Shit,” I muttered under my breath and tried to sit up.Bad idea. The second I shifted, a sharp stab of pain shot through my lower abdomen, and I gasped, collapsing back onto the bed. My arm clutched my stomach on instinct. “Goddamn it,” I hissed, squeezing my eyes shut as I panted through the pain.T

Evelyn's POVTwo weeks. It’s been two whole weeks since Lucien Darkhen’s heart was torn out and everything I knew cracked down the middle. The bloodshed. The chaos. The choices that none of us can ever take back. And yet here I am, barefoot on the dewy path of Bluestone’s eastern garden, pretending the world is soft again. It isn’t. Not really.I walk slowly, my fingers grazing the lavender bushes that line the old cobblestone path. The scent is familiar. Soothing. It’s the only thing that hasn’t changed.Everyone says it’s over. That we won. That the worst is behind us.But I can still feel it, that unease crawling at the back of my neck. Maya’s words echo in my mind like a warning bell. “Lucien was just the beginning. They’ll come for me… and they’ll come for you too.”I close my eyes, breathe in the sharp floral air, and try not to let the panic crawl up my throat. Maya wasn’t some frightened girl. She was calm when she said it. Certain. That’s what terrified me the most. She wasn’
