The apartment was silent, but Chloe’s mind was anything but.

She sat cross-legged on her bed, her laptop casting a pale blue glow across the room. Her blinds were closed, lights off, only the soft hum of her fan filling the silence.

She hadn’t been able to shake the feeling since she got home from the hospice. Seeing her mother had grounded her, but running into Noah had stirred up emotions she thought were long buried. And yet… neither of those things was what kept her heart racing.

No, it was the bite.

The faint glow on her stomach had faded but the mark on her neck was still there. Her fingers occasionally brushed the side of her neck, where the faint outline of a bite mark had begun to fade, but not disappear.

She didn’t remember being bitten. Not exactly. Only flashes.

The heat. The haze. The way her soul had felt like it was being pulled apart and rebuilt with every stroke of his voice, every brush of his touch. Valerius. His mouth. His fangs. Her body is trembling.

His hands moved to her waist, gripping her tightly as he pulled her against him. She could feel the bulge of his erection pressing against her thigh, the promise of what was to come sending a thrill of anticipation through her. "But first," he murmured, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear, "I want to taste you." Chloe's breath hitched, her body trembling as his words washed over her. She knew what he meant, what he wanted, and the thought sent a rush of wetness between her thighs. His fingers settled between her thighs. He cupped her, his fingers pressing against her wetness, and Chloe couldn't help the moan that escaped her lips. "So wet for me," he murmured, his voice filled with satisfaction. "Such a good girl, lie down," he said, motioning toward the velvet chaise near the fire. Chloe obeyed, her breath shaky as she reclined, the flickering firelight casting golden shadows across her bare skin. Valerius took his time. He didn’t pounce. He moved like a man who kn

The moment Chloe stepped into the upstairs corridor, everything felt heavier. The lighting was low, golden and dim, like the hush of candlelight. She walked slowly, her heels silent against the velvet-soft carpet, the black card and silver key still clutched in her hand. Her heart thudded not just from nerves, but anticipation. When she reached the door, it was already slightly ajar. “Come in,” Valerius's voice flowed from within, smooth and commanding, yet intimate. With a gentle push, she opened the door. It was a dimly lit chamber adorned with various implements of pleasure and pain, each one meticulously placed and gleaming in the candlelight. At the center stood Valerius, dressed in a black shirt unbuttoned at the throat, revealing a shadow of his sculpted chest. He held a crystal glass filled with deep red wine, swirling it with a deliberate grace that drew her gaze. His eyes locked onto hers, piercing and intense. “You are here,” he said softly, his voice wrapping

The doors opened before she could knock. Cordelia stood there in an elegant black dress, expression unreadable. “Welcome back, Chloe,” she said smoothly, stepping aside to let her in. Chloe stepped into the marble-floored foyer, her eyes adjusting to the dim glow of golden chandeliers hanging above. The rich aroma of garlic, wine, and roasted meats drifted in the air, teasing her senses. Her heels clicked softly as she walked forward, led by the faint sound of cutlery. In the grand dining hall, Valerius was seated at the head of a long, lavish table, draped in blood-red velvet. The table overflowed with an extravagant feast: succulent grilled lamb, glazed duck, oysters on ice, truffle-infused pasta, crystal glasses brimming with deep, dark wine, and silver domes steaming dishes that she couldn’t even name. At first, he remained focused on slicing into a blood-rare steak, each cut executed with a grace that hinted at a lifetime of practice. When he finally did glance her way, t

The air inside the hospice was sterile and faintly sweet, flowers, antiseptic, and something older, sadder, like memories that never fully left. Chloe moved slowly down the quiet hallway, her arms folded around a small bouquet of white lilies. Her heels clicked softly against the linoleum floor, a soft rhythm to distract her from the lingering weakness in her limbs. Her mother had always loved lilies. She hadn’t visited in a few days. Too caught up in… everything. Valerius. The bite. The dreams. The glow. She hadn’t even told her mother about the new job, or the clothes, or the strange, erotic pull she couldn’t explain. But today wasn’t about that. Today was about being a daughter again. The world of luxury and fangs and black silk capes could wait. She rounded the corner to the familiar room but stopped short. A tall man stood just outside the door, clipboard in hand, speaking quietly to one of the nurses. His white coat was pristine, sleeves rolled halfway up strong fo

Chloe woke up drenched in heat, alone, confused, and weak. Her body was heavy and humming like it was still caught in the rhythm of last night. Her heart pounded in her chest like a drumline, her skin tingling under the soft spill of morning light pouring through the curtains. Her head pounded as if she had drunk too much or screamed too long. Everything felt too real and unreal at once like she’d just stepped out of a dream that had crawled under her skin and refused to leave. She didn’t remember getting home. Didn’t remember getting into bed. She pushed herself up, limbs slow and sore in the best way, and stumbled over to the mirror. Her reflection caught her off guard; pale skin, hair wild, eyes dark and glossy with leftover desire. Her throat was dry. Her lips were swollen, her cheeks flushed. She tried to blink the sleep away and reached for her hair, pulling it into a messy bun. That’s when she saw it. A mark. On the side of her neck. A real one. Not just a bru
