Angelica’s POV With daylight now on our side, and the majority of the vamps nestled up in their nests, with their fill of last night’s riches, Joffrey and I head out into the city to find the warlock that I came here to find. I was giving myself to the end of today to find him, and if I don’t, then I was going to have to make a difficult decision, which was to call my Uncle Tristan, exposing that I was in his city, so that I could warn him what was going on beneath his nose. As Joffrey drove us towards the part of the city called Old Town, he began to warn me about the area. “This part of the city is rough, and it houses a lot of supernatural beings that don’t want to be found. I think it’s best if you let me do the talking.” After what happened last night at his aunt’s restaurant, I couldn’t disagree with him, because I didn’t want to draw any more attention to myself or cause any more problems for him and his family than I already had.
Angelica’s POV An eerie feeling right away hit me, that I wasn’t alone, as I called out to the man “I know you are in here. I just want to talk.” Silence remained filling the air, but as I closed my eyes and tuned into my wolf senses, I could hear his heart beating a mile a minute, telling me that he indeed was still here, and that he was scared. Opening my eyes, I look in the direction that I could hear his heartbeat coming from, as I tried to refrain from using my powers, exposing myself to him, as I squinted my eyes now trying to focus them, by using another one of my wolf’s abilities. Faintly, I could see his figure cowering in the corner of the room, before I called out to him once again, “I am not here to hurt you. I was sent here by a good friend of mine, who said I could find a warlock that goes by the name Alatar.” “My father is dead, but you already know that.” He finally says bitterly to me, breaking his silenc
Angelica’s POV My eyes instantly widened, as I recognize the one from the restaurant last night, making me realize that these two weren’t just men, but vamps. Taking a step back towards the door, as Alatar’s son got to his feet, I knew it was too late to keep him out of this, especially if the vamp recognized me. “Talon, I thought we told you to leave town, and here you are still here.” The one vamp said to him, as he knocked over a pile of books to the floor, while the other vamp from last night turned and looked in my direction. The look of recognition instantly rose on his face, but to my surprise he didn’t say anything, but just stared at me, as if he was trying to tell me something with his eyes. But as I tried to figure out what he was trying to tell me, a loud thud filled the room as the other vamp knocked a bookcase over, and Talon stepped away from them towards me, as he says to him, “I told you I needed a few days to take care
Angelica’s POV Holding onto the rail, I slowly made my way down the old stone spiral staircase, that looked as if it had been carved directly from the earth beneath the bookstore many moons ago, making me wonder what could possibly be at the bottom of it. About halfway down the staircase, my stomach begins to turn into a knot, as it felt like I was descending into the pits of hell, while I could feel a darkness forming around me. Stopping on the stairs, trying to catch my breath that felt like it was being taken away from me, Joffrey quickly moves to my aide, as he asks, “Angelica, what is it?”Looking up at him standing on the step above me, I knew if I told him what I was feeling, he would make us turn around, but I needed to see what was below us, because whatever it was, I had the feeling it was the source of the darkness that had attacked me.“I’m fine.” I quickly replied to him, not wanting him to see the distress I was in, as I turned and continu
Angelica’s POV Joffrey pulled the vehicle to a halt in front of the grand hotel, and quickly got out and rushed to my side, taking me by the hand, before pulling me inside the lobby, as Talon and Darren followed us. Cedric came rushing over towards us, as Joffrey barks orders out to him, “Get these two a room, and if anyone suspicious comes looking for us, put this place on lockdown.” While he pulled me towards the elevator, taking complete control of the situation. As the elevator doors shut, Joffrey says to me, “We need to get you out of the city, but I am sure by now that they have all the exits blocked. We are going to have to keep bunkered down here for the night in the hopes that they give up the search for who killed their comrades.” Great, we were trapped in the city, and Uncle Tristan wasn’t here for me to ask for help, as he was at my parents’ trying to come up with a way to save me. Knowing that it was a long drive, I contempl
Joffrey’s POV After everything we had been through together these past couple of days, I would have thought that she could see through my facade of just wanting to be friends, but she was still holding onto the lie that we had told each other the night that we met at her ball. I had already caved once from the little act, stealing a kiss from her that haunts me every time I look at her, at the possibility of what could be between us, if she would just let her own guards down and trust me.There was an undeniable pull that I could feel in the depts of my soul towards her from the moment my eyes laid on hers, telling me that she was the one, but as I watched her that night at the party, I could clearly see she was just as lost in this world as I was. I sensed right away that she was different like myself, but even as I open up to her, telling her my secrets, she remains a closed book, unwilling to let me in.Unfortunately, without the knowledge of why she was being targe
Angelica’s POV My hand moved to my head, as it literally felt like it was going to explode, while I tried to open my eyes, but I was instantly blinded by the sunlight peering into the room. Sitting up in bed, I quickly realized that I was no longer in the hotel room, but an actual bedroom at someone’s house.Fear at that moment raced throughout my body, as my last memories came flooding back to me, with his haunting words echoing in my head. Once again, I had allowed him to violate me, this time even getting close enough to touch me, and my skin began to crawl just thinking about it.The sound of a click drew my attention towards the door, and I raced to remove the covers from on top of me, while I watched the doorknob begin to turn. Finally releasing myself from them, I got to my feet, raising my hands in front of me, ready to take down whoever walked through that door. As the door began to slowly open, I called upon my powers, and my hands began to gl
Angelica’s POV My eyes widened as Uncle Tristan walked into the room with a very stern look on his face, making me wonder how much Joffrey had told him, and how much he had told Joffrey, as I look between the two of them, now both staring at me. Uncle Tristan was the one to break the awkward silence by saying, “Angelica, do you know how worried your parents are right now? Do you know how much of your father’s resources are being used to find you? They think you were taken, and here I find out that you took it upon yourself to go rogue, hunting the individual that is hunting you on your own. You’re lucky to still be alive.” My head lowered knowing how disappointed he was in me and knowing now all the worry I had put my parents through. I should have realized that my parents would have exhausted their resources trying to find me, but honestly, I had done this to protect them. “Although I am infuriated with your poor decisio
Angelica’s POV My Uncle Bishop and my father began to move around the ballroom trying each of the doors for themselves, but none of them would open, making me wonder if it was my turn again in this game the heir was playing with us. How many trials of fear was the heir going to make us face, and was this game he was playing with us ever going to end? Fear began to sink into me, that this was our hell, and that we were going to be trapped in it for the rest of eternity, as I stood in the middle of the ballroom floor, deciding on which door to pick. Letting go of Joffrey’s hand, I moved to the back of the ballroom to the door that led outside, hoping that it was the door that would lead us out of this hell of a game. But as I took a deep breath, and placed my hand on the handle, I realized quickly that the handle wasn’t moving, making me wonder what game the heir was playing with us now. I wanted to scream out in frustration, but I held it
Angelica’s POV I knew by the look on Joffrey’s face that he was scared to see what lay on the other side of the door, but we had no other choice, as the debris continued to fall through the hole, pushing us to face it. This time my father grabbed a hold of my arm, pulling me in front of him, as Joffrey finally opened the door and stepped inside. Stepping through the door to join Joffrey, I wondered what his worst fear could have been, but as my eyes focused on the room around me, I was stunned to see where I was standing. Joffrey stood in silence with his head down in the middle of the ballroom at my parents’ house, as if he was ashamed to look at anyone, making me wonder why or how the night of my ball could have been his biggest fear. It was definitely one of my own, because it was the night that the heir had first violated me by siphoning my powers, but I didn’t understand how it was his. “Well, isn’t this interesting.” My father says
Angelica’s POV As my father opened the front door, a white light beamed into the cabin, before my father stepped into the light, without a second of hesitation, knowing with what I had just said, that the door would lead him to my mother. But as we stepped through the door, unfortunately my mother was nowhere in sight, and we stood in what looked like a basement, with a huge hole in the floor above our heads. A growl instantly radiated from my father, and my Uncle Bishop quickly moved to his side to comfort him, knowing that my father failed to take us to my mother, even though I know he tried. It was clear his darkest fear still lay there the night he thought he had lost my mother to Tyler, and that was where the heir had taken us with the little game he was playing. “There is still hope. We are now inside the house. Maybe the heir is somewhere inside the house with them.” My Uncle Bishop tells my father with hope, but I knew that was a
Angelica’s POV “What the bloody hell?” Joffrey asks, as he quickly moves to my side, while my father says, “This is impossible.” As he races towards the window, peering outside. “I don’t understand. How are we in my cabin?” My Uncle Bishop asks, while he begins to look around, moving from room to room, as if he was looking for something. Moving away from the window, my father begins to shake his head, and I can see the dread in his eyes, thinking that we were hundreds of miles away from my mother, but in reality, I knew we weren’t, or at least I prayed we weren’t. A loud click came from behind us, making us all turn to see my Uncle Bishop coming out of his bedroom with a shotgun in his hand, while he says, “This mother fucker wants to play games, then games are what we will play.” Just as those words came from his lips, there was a knock on the front door, making us all turn to now look at it, as a voice e
Angelica’s POV The brighter light that we had seen at the end of the tunnel we were in only proved itself to be a mouth that opened to three new tunnels and a choice that needed to be made. My father and my Uncle Bishop stood before the three tunnels arguing with each other on which tunnel they should take, knowing that time was precious, and my mother was somewhere here on the grounds, or even beneath the ground like we were. Stepping away from Joffrey, I moved in front of the first tunnel, closing my eyes, as I opened my senses, trying to sense the heir’s powers, as I focused down that particular tunnel, but felt nothing. Slowly, I moved to the next tunnel doing the same thing as they continued to contemplate which tunnel to take, but I still felt nothing, making me think that I was stupid to think that I could figure this out for them. I was about to give up, as my father was insisting on taking the first tunnel, when I felt a slight
Angelica’s POV Stepping through the front door, it didn’t take me long to realize that we had just stepped through a portal, and we were no longer above the earth’s surface, but in what looked like a caving system, deep beneath the ground. “What the hell?” Joffrey said, as he held my hand tightly in his, pulling me back towards him, while the two of us took in our dimly lit new surroundings. Just up ahead of us, I faintly could make out the silhouettes of my father and my Uncle Bishop, as the two of them move towards a more predominant light at the end of the tunnel we were now standing in. Taking a deep breath, I began to slightly cough, as the air seemed stale to me, like it had no ventilation to the fresh air on the earth’s surface, making me wonder how deep beneath the surface we were. Knowing that we needed to keep up with my father and my uncle, I went to take a step forward but found myself reaching for the wall of
Angelica’s POV “Let’s keep going.” My father said turning as he began to walk towards the front gates, with my Uncle Bishop by his side, as Joffrey stood there waiting for me along with Ambrogio. I knew I couldn’t keep this revelation to myself, as I was now sure that the telus the heir had still was working at full capacity. If I let all of them walk in there without this knowledge, I was possibly leading them all to their deaths, and I couldn’t do that. “Wait!” I called out, stopping my father and my uncle from taking another step, as they both turned and looked in my direction. Now that everyone was staring at me, I had to find a way to tell them that the telus was still working, without telling them everything that I now knew, which was going to be hard to do. “Something isn’t right.” I finally said, making Joffrey move closer to my side, as if he was trying to protect me from what I was about to say.
Angelica’s POV Unfortunately, the bliss from our union only lasted its duration, as reality came rushing back this time like a freight train, while I realized we no longer had the upper hand on the heir. We were now heading to his territory, and on his terms, and he had hostages, making me pray that I had the strength to overcome what was needed from me. My mind was on overdrive trying to piece everything that had happened together, knowing that it all had to have a symbolic meaning to his plan, but what I couldn’t understand was the whole Talon and reversal of the spell of the telus. I mean the reversal spell had to have worked, I had felt my own powers returned to me that he had taken from me, but it didn’t make sense to me. Now that we knew that his plan was to resurrect his father, I would have thought that he needed as much power as he possibly could to perform whatever spell he was planning to use. By him giving up the power of the
Angelica’s POV “I would travel to the ends of the world as long as it was with you.” I finally admitted to Joffrey, as I secretly prayed that we got the chance to do this, because I knew this was his dream, and the fact that he wanted me to be a part of it made it even more special. “That was the answer I was hoping for.” He whispers to me before his lips crash against my own, sending sparks of electricity throughout my entire body. It was crazy how my body reacted to his touch, another part of my greatest grandmother’s blessing I assumed to her creations, to never fall out of love with each other, making me wonder if her own love still ran this deep for Ambrogio after all these moons. Something though told me it did, or why else would she continue to bless her creations with a mate to love them unconditionally. Joffrey slowly pulled from the kiss, as he stared into my eyes, and says to me, “Something is plaguing your tho
