Chapter 1

"Guys, look! AI is freaking amazing!

"I told it I needed a VIP room for eight at Lakecrest Hotel tomorrow, and boom—reservation confirmed!"

Vincent Tate had a clean-cut look and that fresh-out-of-college energy.

He held up his phone for the other interns to see.

Veya AI's reply filled the screen:

[Your lake-view VIP room for eight at Lakecrest Hotel is confirmed for 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Please arrive on time.]

I leaned against the office doorframe, my back still aching.

My fists clenched, nails digging into my palms.

It took everything to shove down the rage boiling inside me.

Nearby, Vincent was still hyping up his phone while everyone sang his praises.

Looking smug as hell, he waved his phone and dropped a screenshot into the department group chat.

The group chat blew up with people hyping him up.

[Vincent, that's actually impressive! You're already this good with AI? Our department's productivity is about to go through the roof!]

[That's what fresh talent looks like. New hires actually think outside the box, unlike certain old-timers stuck in the past.]

[If we land this deal, Vincent deserves all the credit!]

Before I could finish reading, someone tagged me.

It was my fiancée, Peyton Welch—the company's Vice President.

[@Andy Maybe learn something from the younger employees. AI is the future. Stop being so stuck in your ways.]

She'd thrown the exact same jab at me in my last life.

Vincent jumped in right away, acting like the innocent intern who was scared I'd snap.

[If Mr. Alford doesn't like me using AI, I won't use it next time.]

[This is a huge deal, after all. If anything goes wrong, I'll take full responsibility. No reason to drag the whole team down with me.]

Every word made me look like the jerk picking on the new guy.

And if the deal fell through? Easy. Blame me for stopping him from using AI.

Last time, I'd snapped back and got accused of bullying a new hire.

But after dying once, none of this could get to me.

I stared at his fake little act and smirked.

My fingers flew across the keyboard:

[Use whatever you want. If this deal falls apart, it's all on you.]

The group chat went dead silent.

Nobody expected me to clap back that hard.

Even Peyton had nothing to say.

I opened our private chat and sent one message.

[We're done.]

Then I went back to my office and pulled open the bottom desk drawer.

That night, I got a text from Vincent.Just one line.[Andy, you've left me with nowhere to go. Tomorrow, I'm jumping off the roof of your office building. If I die, it'll be your fault!]***The next morning, I got to work and found a crowd gathered outside, everyone staring up at the roof.Vincent was sitting on the edge, his legs dangling over the side as he livestreamed on his phone. The second he spotted me, he shouted into the camera."Everyone, look! That's Andy Alford—the guy who bullied me!"Because of him, I can't graduate, I can't get a job, and my girlfriend dumped me. I've got nothing left! If I die today, it's all his fault!"People below pulled out their phones to record, whispering among themselves. Some yelled for him not to do anything stupid. Others bought his story and pointed at me, calling me heartless.I pulled out my phone and connected to the rooftop PA system. Then I played the recording from the day before."Once I pull that rooftop stunt, Andy w

People quickly tracked down Sophie's account from the photo. Her comments flooded with people telling her Vincent was cheating on her.I watched the internet turn on them, smiled, and put my phone away. They'd put me through the same online hate in my last life. This time, I was giving them a taste of their own medicine.***The next morning, not long after I got to work, security came over."There's a girl here to see you. She says she's Vincent's girlfriend, Sophie."I told them to let her in.Sophie stopped beside my desk, looking grim. She gripped her phone so hard her knuckles turned white."What do you need?"She bit her lip, her voice a little hoarse."I... I saw the video you posted. I need to know if it's all true."Is Vincent really sleeping with your company's VP? Did he really use my money to buy her stuff?"I didn't answer.I just showed her all the evidence I had. There were records of Vincent and Peyton's hotel stays on the exact days he'd told Sophie he

I opened social media and found another post from Peyton's burner account. She called me ruthless, saying I'd even turned on my ex just to steal a project. Her friends piled into the comments to defend her.I wasn't worried.I'd expected this. And I already had all the evidence ready.***Vincent's video spread fast and was trending locally by morning. My phone rang nonstop all night.Strangers flooded me with hate messages. Some even sent threatening packages and showed up outside the company, demanding I apologize to Vincent.Peyton played the victim all over social media too.She claimed I'd spent tens of thousands of dollars from her account during our three years together.According to her, I dumped her the second I made it big—and then sent her to jail. She painted herself as the victim in all of it.Public opinion was completely against me.The company's official account was flooded with hate, and people were threatening to boycott our products.Mr. Klein called

The police arrived soon after. After confirming the embezzlement evidence, they took Peyton away for questioning. As the officers escorted her out, she was still cursing at Vincent, glaring at him like she wanted to rip him apart. Not long after, HR posted a second announcement.[Following an internal review, intern Vincent Tate is terminated for serious misconduct, spreading malicious rumors about a colleague, and deliberately damaging the company's reputation. He will not be eligible for rehire.][Former Vice President Peyton Welch is terminated after conclusive evidence of embezzlement was uncovered. She must repay the $120,000 in misappropriated company funds within one week, or the company will pursue legal action.]The second the announcement dropped, Vincent went ghost-white.He scrambled to his feet and rushed to Mr. Klein's office, begging for another chance."Mr. Klein, I was wrong! I'm about to graduate. If I get fired now, I'll never find a job. Please, just give me

I just smiled and said nothing.Back at my desk, I organized the evidence proving Peyton had embezzled company funds and emailed it to Mr. Klein.I'd found the same evidence in my last life.Back then, I'd buried it because I still had feelings for her.Not this time.Half an hour later, Peyton and Vincent walked out of Mr. Klein's office looking wrecked.Moments later, HR dropped an announcement in the company group chat.[Following an internal review, Vice President Peyton Welch was found to have abused her authority by handing a major account to an intern who had not yet earned a full-time position.][Her favoritism nearly cost the company the deal. Effective immediately, she is demoted to Operations Associate, removed from all major accounts, and will forfeit her annual bonus.][During his internship, Vincent Tate made false accusations against a colleague and acted against the company's interests. He will not be offered a full-time position.]The whole company exploded.

As I reached the break room, I heard Vincent complaining.Several coworkers had gathered around, handing him tissues and trying to comfort him."Vincent, what happened? Did the deal fall through? Did Mr. Alford chew you out?""I knew it. Mr. Alford already had it out for him. With Vincent taking over such a big project, of course he'd make things difficult."Vincent cursed under his breath, breathing hard with anger."Mr. Alford knew AI couldn't make reservations and never told me. Then he stole all the credit and even got me kicked out..."I heard the only reason he landed the contract was that he was hooking up with Mr. Parker's assistant. How am I supposed to compete with that?"The second he finished, Peyton walked over, looking pissed."Andy went way too far this time. He didn't give a new hire any chance at all. I'll talk to HR and have half his project bonus given to Vincent as compensation. We can't let a new employee get treated like this."The coworkers around him im
