The boy held up his drawing.

"Do you want to see?" he said.

I stepped into the doorway. "Sure."

He turned the pad around with both hands, holding it up at arm's length, It was a hospital, I knew that from the red cross with two figures outside it, one clearly taller than the other.

"That's me and my mom," he said. "She works here, well not here here, but she works at a hospital. This one's just for the drawing."

"It's good," I said.

"I know." He said like he was stating a fact.
