2. The King's surrogate

Chapter 2

****

Vasperia cuddled on the king-sized bed and savored the sweet smell of the room, attempting to get up. She felt warm and fluffy. A feeling she has never gotten in the years of living as an omega in their little home, down on their hard mat.

She stretched her hands to feel her brother's temperature but he wasn't there. Sighing in frustration, she sat up with her eyes still shut and reached for the family lampstand to take her little button phone to what time it was but it was nowhere in existence to where she sat.

Snapping her eyes open, she released a gasp that made her scared of her voice and shrieking in disgust.

She was in what they would call a classic VIP room, decorated with art drawings and floored with sparkling marble tiles that matched the one outside the club she had come to last night.

The sight of her torn undies on the floor made her snap to reality and a heavy migraine flooded her head, making her wince in pain.

"How foolish of me!" She cried but her wolf Tera, looked undisturbed.

"It's okay, we both had a nice time Vesperia."

She told Vasperia who was already on her feet, searching for a dress and ignoring the blazing pain in her neck.

She ignored her wolf's foolish words and felt a hot sting of tears, lurking at the corner of her eyes.

She's not careless or lose, but last night proved otherwise. Anyone who saw her in such a state, naked in a public club ward would call her a slut.

"It's okay Vasp–"

"SHUT UP! FUCK!! SHUT IT"

She yelled, throwing her gown over her head and picking her red lacy thong to fit into her purse.

"My brother is out there sick and alone and you're saying nonsense," Vasperia said, feeling all the hate for herself and her wolf escalated to another level.

She wished for someone to scold her or call her names to feel worse so she could judge herself and the fact that she messed up big time.

What would her mate think of her? She gave out her dignity to a total stranger just because of a horny hormone she couldn't control. She was going to be a surrogate to an Alpha whose identity she didn't know of; all this was happening to her all thanks to her unfortunate life and the sickness her brother had to inherit from devilish sources.

After what seemed like a speedy walk to her home, she was met with another shock of her life.

Her belongings were thrown out alongside her brother who was confused about the whole situation.

The happiness that filled her heart on seeing Vane was bittersweet as she rushed to hug her brother first.

"Vasperia…" his warm worried voice called out as he sighed into her embrace. "What's going on?"

"Oh Vane, I'm so glad you're okay." She sniffed, kissing his forehead, and Vane was eager for an answer.

"Are you playing with me young lady?" The handsome cold Beta growled at her and she swallowed.

"I would never leave my brother alone so stop assuming that I ran, not with this thing in me!" Vasperia spat harshly and he took slow steps to her.

"I don't give a fuck about what you care about and where you are, I'm interested in the deal that we made and you're already wasting my time!"

"B..but he just recovered! Let me look after him for three days at least.. please…" Her voice croaked in fear and worry. She didn't know the medicine would be so effective and the thought of not seeing her brother breaks her to the core.

The man who stared at Vasperia wordlessly ordered the other men.

"Kill him, I think she's useless now."

He said and immediately they all drew out their guns.

"NO!!"

Vasperia cried with her knees down to the ground.

"No, please I'll go with you now. Don't hurt him."

"Then don't mess with me and start moving!

The wedding should be in three days from now and the Alpha dislikes lateness and Incompetence.

He ordered and she nodded, swallowing hard as she turned to face her brother.

"What's wrong Vas?" Vane asked harshly this time around, feeling disgusted at the way they treated his sister as he felt helpless.

"I traded myself for your cure Vane, look; I'll be fine. Just stay in the pack and be safe. Tell the Alpha and I'm okay, once I'm done I'll be back okay?"

"But–"

Vasperia was yanked harshly at him before he could complete his questions and she let out a painful sob, watching him cry in confusion.

She mouthed sorry to him as she was forcefully pushed into the car, with the car starting to life; it drove off with speed exiting the borders of her pack.

****

It was a long and sad drive for Vasperia until they reached the borders of the most deadly boundaries in existence.

No! This was completely out of the wolf's territory making raw fear and sweat trickle down her head.

It was so evident that even the air smelled different, she saw the large Pack sign and bustling activities happening in the city while they drove and she couldn't help her curiosity anymore.

"Where are we?" She asked him, the Beta she had randomly seen at the local clinic when she went to cry her eyes out for help. She didn't know who he was and was too blind to accept his offer until she saw this place.

"Red Stone Pack." He answered curtly, staring outside the window and Vasperia felt every nerve in her bone cracking down in disbelief.

This place was forbidden!

"No, tell me it's a lie." She cried, hot tears dripping down her cheeks.

"Answer me!" She yelled.

"Look here Vasperia, we are here and there's no turning back."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Her high-pitched voice echoed in the driving car.

"You know I won't survive it here, damn! I'm not needed here, I ..ca..can't". Words failed her as she choked on her words bitterly, letting the rumors and fear of the unknown consume her.

Red Stone Pack was a territory for the Lycans and not just any Lycans but with the last descendants of the four elders who were like a representative of their god.

She heard how ruthless they were, her pack had gotten into several clashes with them and their landmark was like poison to the Wolves.

No one dare trespasses, they were sworn enemies and she was going to be the surrogate to…fuck!

She was dragged outside the car and led into the most magnificent space of royal decor. The large Mansion was all it took to scream class and wealth but Vasperia's heart was doing a heavy flip-flop dance.

Even her wolf had been quiet, disconnecting the mind link from her immediately after she heard of Red Stone.

This wasn't a place to be, not for her, not for Vasperia.

"Call the Alpha, Tell him it's successful." The Beta, whose name Vesperia didn't know, told the guard who went in and came out almost immediately.

"What?" He asked the guard who looked like a frightened leaf.

"I… I almost bumped into him, he's coming"

He said and Vasperia cried Inwardly, her face buried down as she wished he should just reject her.

"Show your respect to the King!"

He ordered but Vasperia had to see whoever she was getting married to, his aura was so primal and scary but his looks could wage war between angels in heaven. Why does he look somewhat… Familiar?

He was drop-dead gorgeous that she stared into his eyes without averting her gaze.

"For all that is in the love of nature, what is wrong with you Brent?" He yelled and Vasperia trembled at his voice. It was commanding and pissed. He was fucking arrogant and yes! He deserves the air of arrogance until a better explanation is given to her of where one got all the alluring features from.

"I'm sorry, you said it's urgent." He bowed.

"And you brought a wolf, a dirty-looking one for that matter."

"I'm sorry." He muttered again and she felt a string of pain in her heart. He didn't have to be so harsh and plain but she guessed it was only the beginning of who this deadly Lycan Alpha was.

He waved his hands and sat in an arrogant pose before facing Vasperia.

"What's your name?" He asked, his eyes boring Into her deeply.

"Vasperia." She uttered boldly.

"Vasperia, the next time you raise your eyes at me again while talking, I'll gorge it out. We are getting married tomorrow but you need to get punished for staring at me like some possessed Maniac."

Vasperia nodded in pain and bowed.

"I'm sorry!" She whispered and swallowed in pain.

"She's feisty and insulative Brent, not even a title is added, who the hell is she?

Hand her over to the Chief maid behind the dungeon, she would instill some manners into her but don't hurt my baby in her, I'll slit anyone's throat "

Vasperia gasped in shock as she was dragged out to what seemed like a large street of agonizing work and was tossed to a mature-looking lady who stared at her with disgust.

She wore a sky-blue apron and a check that stopped below her chest. Her hair was silky black and packed to the back all warped in a bun, she was beautiful with her ash-gray eyes but the snare she gave to Vasperia sent cold chills to her innocent body.

"She's the king's surrogate bride, so you should take care of her." The guard said and she smiled mischievously.
