The flashing lights were the first thing Maya saw when she opened the curtains the next morning.

A swarm of photographers, reporters, and curious onlookers crowded at the end of the long Knight estate driveway, their cameras like a hundred unblinking eyes. Even from behind thick glass, Maya felt exposed.
