Maya

Laura studied me for several long seconds before taking the seat opposite my desk without waiting to be invited.

I leaned back in my chair and watched her settle comfortably into the chair as though she'd been invited all along.

"Is that all you came here to tell me?" I asked. "That Maya might be getting the wrong idea?"

A faint smile tugged at her lips.

"What? You expected something more... dramatic?"

I couldn't help raising an eyebrow. For the first time since she'd walked in, she smiled

BrianSam didn't answer immediately. He sat across from me, his hands resting on the table, his expression carefully controlled. Normally, I would have trusted that composure. Tonight, it only made me more suspicious.I leaned back in my chair."Let's start with the obvious question."Sam waited."Why does everything keep going wrong under your security?"His brows pulled together."Alpha...""No. Answer me."I kept my voice low, but there was enough authority behind it to make him straighten."We have surveillance throughout the estate, yet Maya was poisoned without anyone seeing who did it. Our security was breached during the attack on the house. Jason disappeared eight years ago without a single person being held accountable. I leaned forward."And now we know hospital records were manipulated."Sam's jaw tightened."None of those incidents happened because I ignored security.""Then explain how they happened."He opened his mouth, but I stopped him."And don't tell me they're iso

BrianI couldn't sit still after Maya left. Her words kept circling through my mind, along with the look on her face when she walked away. I told myself I'd done the right thing by agreeing to let her take Roman, but that didn't stop the emptiness her absence left behind.I needed something else to focus on.So I went to the interrogation room.Ethan and Sam were already there with the baby's mother. The room was cold and windowless, lit by a single overhead light that cast hard shadows across the table. She sat opposite them with her hands clenched tightly in her lap, her shoulders drawn inward as though she wanted to disappear into the chair. The moment I entered, both men looked up.I pulled out the chair opposite the woman and sat down. She looked at me, then quickly lowered her eyes."Tell me again what you remember from the day your baby disappeared," I said. Her fingers trembled."I remember very little. I was in so much pain after the delivery.""Then tell me what you do remem

  • Surrogate for the CEO Alpha   Chapter 76: The Advice

MayaI left Brian's office with Roman's future settled and my own heart in pieces.I kept telling myself that was enough.I have Roman and Brian have agreed not to fight me for him. He had transferred more money into my account than I could ever spend in several lifetimes, and he had even told me I could return if Tyler's pack didn't feel right. It should have made me feel secure.Instead, every step away from his office felt like I was walking farther from the life I had secretly wanted. Before I could return to my room, I decided there was something I needed to understand.I was mated to Alpha Tyler, I needed to know why.I went to Dr. Rolland's clinic. He looked up from his desk when I entered and gave me a warm smile."Maya. What brings you here?""I need blood work."His expression became more attentive."For what?""I need to know if something has changed in me."I sat across from him and explained what had happened at the ceremony, including Tyler's claim that I was his mate.D

Maya I barely slept. Brian's kiss kept replaying in my mind, followed by his jealousy, his accusations, and then that infuriating answer when I asked when last he kissed me. I had spent months trying to understand where I stood with him, and somehow he had managed to make everything even more confusing in a single night. By morning, I was done trying to understand him. I wanted the contract settled. I wanted to know exactly what would happen to the children. Most importantly, I needed to make my own decision before Brian's uncertainty dragged me into another round of hope and disappointment. I went straight to his office. Brian was standing behind his desk when I walked in, several documents arranged neatly in front of him. He looked up immediately, and something flickered across his face when our eyes met. I ignored it. "I told you I was coming," I said. I didn't know where to start from but I was sure of what I wanted. Tyler might not be certain yet, but he was a wa

MayaBy the time the welcoming ceremony officially came to an end, Zoe and Lyra had already taken Roman and Ryan upstairs. They had apparently decided that the twins had endured enough excitement for one evening, and I couldn't blame them. Both babies had been rubbing their eyes long before the ceremony ended, their little faces growing heavy with sleep despite all the noise around them. The remaining guests gradually moved toward the Moonstone Lounge, one of the estate's grand entertaining rooms. The space had been designed to impress visiting Alphas without making them feel like strangers. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the illuminated gardens, a massive stone fireplace dominated one wall, and comfortable leather sofas were arranged around low tables covered with expensive drinks and carefully prepared food.Brian had spared no expense.Of course he hadn't.Everything in this house seemed designed to remind people that the Silverman family had money, influence, and centuries of

MayaTalking to Alpha Tyler should have felt strange, considering I had known him for only a few minutes, but somehow, it didn't. There was an ease between us that made conversation feel natural, as though we'd met long before tonight. He was warm, charming, and full of jokes, and I found myself laughing at things that probably weren't even that funny."“So,” Tyler said, continuing his story about the couple who had defied the Moon Goddess’s mate bond, “that’s why I’ve been searching for my mate all these years.”“You could have given up,” I said.“Not a chance in hell.” He sighed dramatically, as though the very thought offended him. Then he leaned closer and tilted his head, exposing a few strands of silver among his blond hair.“As you can see, I’m already starting to grow gray from all this,” he said. “And I just turned forty.”I laughed, reaching up before I could stop myself.“You’re exaggerating.”“Am I?” He leaned even closer, clearly determined to prove his point. “Look caref
