As Markus and I walked side by side back into the main section of town, the atmosphere was much lighter than it was when I left. Many of the villagers had left to either return home to bandage up their wounds or mourn those that had past, while the fallen were taken one by one down to the graveyard to be laid to rest. This meant only my group and a select few others were left in the main section of town, one of those men being Daniel. But my eyes didn’t rest on him, but the one man who seemed to always draw my attention since we first met on that bloody battlefield. Baron and I lock eyes instantly, his held worry for why I had left and seemed to grow even more when he noticed the tear-soaked cheeks of my face. Not wanting him to worry any further, I send him a tiny smile before taking a look down at the ground, my mind still rushing with all that Markus and I had spoken about. “Is that the information about our daughter?” Jeremy asks taking notice of the brown folder which sat in
Arriving in the same spot I would always sit when life seemed to get hard, I curl up in a ball hugging my legs so tightly, tears beginning to slowly leak from my eyes the longer the bitter feeling of guilt continued to consume my entire being. When I first arrived at the palace, I was determined to return back here, a place I felt as though I belonged and was needed. But after learning of what Baron and I were, the feeling that this was somehow my home faded from my mind, I didn’t even take the time to think about this place as much as I did before. But these people raised me and saved me, what I was doing to them by accepting Baron and lying to their faces, that was the last thing I ever wanted to do. “I thought I’d find you here.” A male's voice spoke from somewhere ahead of me, raising my head up slightly out of my knees, I find Markus, stood at the bottom of the steps of his little raised porch, a smile on his face and a brown folder in his hands. Markus’s house had always b
After convincing Baron that Daniel’s house was not worthy of our time, he leads me back out into the main section of the village, which looked in much better condition than it was when I left. Four of the structures which had been torn down in the battle stood up, tarp over the top to keep the rain and wind out until the proper rebuilt could take place. Many of the wounded now sat on the fence still not out of the woods but looking much better, while the bodies of the fallen still lay in the same spot but to my relief, no more seemed to be added onto the pile. “You guys have been busy.” I smiled once Baron and I came to a stop in front of our group, my hands on my hips so Baron couldn’t grasp my hand especially, with the amount of village people which now stood watching. “It was an order from our Queen; we were to fulfil your order without hesitation.” Glasses spoke throwing down a pile of rope he had used to secure some of the outer walls of what I believe was the weapon she
Arriving back in the small but pretty home that I once shared with Daniel was odd at first, everything inside still looked the same, even the way it smelt brought me back to how it was a few months ago. But now with everything that had happened, it’s as though a different me was walking into the building, with an Alpha King trailing behind me. I couldn’t help but ask myself what if old Erin saw me now, saw who I was with and who I’d turned into, would she be angry at me? I know I’m not the same person that I was months ago, I was faced with some beyond harsh realities especially, surrounding that fateful night, what would have Erin done with the knowledge that the mother she had mourned after and thought had died was truly, sleeping with her families killer? If we were able to sit down and speak with one another, would she understand me? Having to put all of those uncertainties to the side so I wouldn’t begin to crack up, I dig through my much smaller wardrobe than what I had beco
After convincing Baron that heading back to the village was a good idea, even though at the moment I didn’t know if it was, we were all following behind Markus as he led us deeper into the woods but closer to the village. The moment he said the village had been under attack by an Alpha, it was as though the two conflicting sides of me, the one who wants nothing but revenge for what happened to her family, ensuring each person that took them away from me payed the ultimate price was beyond angry. But the other side of me I didn’t know existed before I met Baron, was hurt in some way, I was about to be Queen of all these people but still, they go and attack the place I once called home, could this be the sign I needed screaming at me to not trust them?! But what I also couldn’t seem to shake was the realisation of who it was, Alpha Curtin. The same man who went and killed my entire family, had tried to do it again to the one I found after. I couldn’t help but begin to wonder if he d
Baron refused to let go of my waist as Markus strolled over to the pit, my back now facing the guys as he blew smoke from his cigarette looking down at them all with disgust. I knew if it wasn’t for me being the one that was also in trouble, he wouldn’t have come to help and may have arrived in order to help the rouges. “You know this is the perfect situation, the one man I will need to dispose of to deal with the pest issue is stood right in that pit chained, yet I am not dealing with it.” Markus said before taking another drag of his cigarette, past Erin would have thought the same thing but now, I needed to protect these guys. “Perhaps it is due to the girl you claimed resembled more of a daughter than friend is mated to that man, killing him would simply lead to her own death in time.” Jeremy spoke from beside me seeming to want to stick up for his son, while Markus simply scoffed throwing his now used cigarette on the ground and crushing it under his boot. “I assumed the to
