Chapter 5

The sheer size of the villa before me made my jaw drop.

While Jason's place was also a villa, it couldn't be compared to what I was seeing before me.

Frank couldn't help but chuckle when he saw how stunned I was. "You'll be staying here from now onwards."

"Is the rent here expensive?" I glanced at him and carefully asked.

"You've done me a big favor by helping me deal with my family. Just think of this as your reward. Besides, I live here too. That way, my family won't suspect anything." He took my hand and led me in.

"This house is full of my mom's spies. We'll have to act the part." Lifting my hand, he gave it a playful shake. A cheeky smile tugged at his lips.

Heat crept onto my cheeks, and I quickly turned away, unable to meet his gaze directly.

In my dream, Jason had his hands wrapped around me as we lay on the couch, watching my favorite movie. However, in the next instant, he was walking

Just as I was happily enjoying the ongoing drama, our butler, Maurice Black, walked over to me with a troubled expression. He said, "There's a woman outside claiming to be your younger sister, Mrs. Lawrent. She also asked me to deliver a message to you.""What did she say?" I asked.Maurice replied, "She asked you to meet her if you want to know the true cause of your grandmother's death."My heart sank, and I snapped my head up to look at him.Grandma died in an accident when I was still in college. She'd fallen down the stairs and suffered a brain hemorrhage. She was already cremated by the time my family notified me. I didn't even get to see her one last time. For years, I'd resented my parents because of that.Could it be that Grandma's death wasn't an accident?I glanced at Helena, her clothes ragged and caked in filth. My gaze turned cold as I asked, "Tell me, how did Grandma die?""Huh, you really want to know, don't you? Beg me, then. I just love seeing you look pitif

"Oh gosh. No wonder Ms. Sanderson left him. Serves him right!""Their family will definitely reap what they have sown after this!"The rippling murmurs drove Jason to the brink. His eyes reddened, his face twisted in anger as he glared at the crowd. He yelled, "What do you know? That bitch Helena lied to me! It's also because of her that I hurt Victoria! I'm also…"I gave Jason a harsh slap before he could finish his sentence. "Enough! You don't even have the guts to own up to what you did! Do you not understand the fact that it takes two to tango?"I then turned to Frank. "Have security throw him out, Frank. What an eyesore."Jason paled. With reddening eyes, he pleaded with me, "I was wrong, Victoria. Can you please give me another chance?"The security guards swarmed in and threw him out of the banquet hall. The heavy slam of the doors was the only response he got for his pleas.…The interruption didn't shake me the slightest, and our bond only grew stronger. The Lawrent

Jason woke up early the next morning to pack up. Helena unwillingly followed along, grumbling all the way.Already in a foul mood, he snapped at her, "Will you cut it out? You've been nagging nonstop—it's driving me crazy. If you don't want to go back, then don't. No one's forcing you."Helena pouted as she looked at him, teary-eyed, feeling aggrieved to no end.On their way to the airport, he received a text from his secretary. His expression darkened as he read it, the veins throbbing angrily on his forehead. Clearly, he was on the verge of erupting in rage."Stop the car right now!" His sudden roar startled the driver, who slammed on the brakes.Helena, who was completely unprepared, lurched forward and slammed into the front seat. The skin on her forehead was split.Jason yanked her out of the car roughly. Then, he pointed at her, cursing, "Get the fuck out! How dare you lie to me, Helena! Compared to your sister, you're more of a monster! I'll sue you for fraud—just wait for

Frank broke into a triumphant smile upon seeing how I ate with such satisfaction."My mom has already heard about us. She's urging me to bring my girlfriend home soon." He looked at me helplessly."Is Madam Kohl really that anxious?" I was surprised at how impatient his mother, Cassandra Kohl, was.Frank replied, "Do you see why I asked for your help? I really had no other choice."I found it amusing watching his somewhat exasperated look. "You can set the time then. I'm fine whenever."We went back to our own rooms after settling on a time.I slept soundly. The same couldn't be said for Jason, though.…Jason was accompanying Helena shopping for handbags at a luxury shop. However, he was somewhat distracted, occasionally checking his WhatsApp on his phone. It had been an entire month, yet I still hadn't replied to any of his texts. It was unprecedented, considering how fast I would reply to him in the past, no matter when he texted me.Jason wanted to ask why I hadn't repl

And now that I am 28, my parents used despicable means to help Helena steal my fiance.I never expected their favoritism to go so far. As such, there was no point in having such a family and lover.I took out Frank's business card and dialled his number."Did you finally decide to be my girlfriend?" His deep voice was laced with mirth."Yes. Can I trouble you to find me a place to stay?" I replied softly, cheeks growing warm from embarrassment.Frank replied, "Okay. Send me your location. I'll pick you up."…After sending my location over, I started studying his business card by the roadside. He was the CEO of Lawrent Group. At home, Jason often complained about the Lawrent Group to me. He would rant about how they always went against him, stealing several of his biggest deals and costing him dearly. As the CEO of Lawrent Group, Frank was naturally the object of his hatred.I couldn't help but smirk, sighing at how ironic fate was.Jason's calls came consecutively, just lik
