Chapter Nine

Gemma didn't want to talk right now, for tonight's meeting she felt like a beautiful item to attach to Jethro and make other men enjoy looking at her. Thinking like that, but then she quickly dismissed the thought. She couldn't let her emotions affect Jethro's good mood.

But Gemma thought too well of her husband, his words had left her in deep thought and despair.

“This is the only thing you can do for me, so show me how good you are,” Jethro said coldly.

The carelessness and disregard from her own husband made Gemma pale and her heart ached like a knife. Even so, Gemma suppressed this stinging pain in her heart, smiling at her husband.

“Yes, I know, I will try to be a useful wife to you.”

But Gemma's submission and condescension to Jethro only make him feel disgusted and uncomfortable, he has never considered Gemma a true wife not only because she is the one who forced him to marry.
