Serenity

Tony walked into the spacious living room, dumped his ball at the usual spot before dropping himself into a couch.

Valentina stood by the door, staring at him. She wondered if she'd raised him well, and if she'd been a good mother. She sighed deeply, shook her head slowly. Her son was spoilt...and there was barely nothing she could do about it.

"Are you going to stand there all day, or tell me what I have to know?" Tony suddenly turned and threw the words across.

"Your father and I are getting separated, Tony." Valentina mumbled as though it were news to the boy.

Tony scoffed, and that hatred filled look that always frightened Valentina danced across his forehead. "Tell me what I don't know, Valentina. Did you even ever love my Dad? Did you cheat on him?"

Valentina's eyes widened with tears. As much as she wanted to pull the brat by the ears, and spank him hard, she maintained her cool. She shook her head, walking away from the door. "I loved him, and I never cheated on him, my love. You have to believe your mother."

Tony turned to look at her, and shrugged his shoulders. "There's nothing I can do if my own parents decides to break up, right?"

Valentina sighed, walked closer and crouched down in front of the young man. She held out her hand, and reluctantly, Tony offered him his palms. "You know I love you, son, right?"

Tony stared deep into her eye, and a soft smile spread slowly across his lips. There was no doubting his mother's love. She could die in place of him. "I know, Val."

Valentina chuckled, pulled him into a teddy bear hug. "You're my life, Tony. And right now, nothing matters more than you. I want to give you the best in life...like I've always done."

A look of guilt glinted in Tony's blue green eyes. "I've been an ass. Yeah, I know..."

Valentina gasped and playfully punched him on his shoulder. "How many times do I have to tell you to stop using such languages? Does Timmy say all these as well?"

"I'm a big boy now, Mom. We will only continue having problems if you don't accept that."

Valentina suppressed a chuckle. She stood up straight, and held out a hand. "What would you like to eat? Come on, let's go over to the kitchen. I have a lot to tell you."

"You do?" Tony inquired as he left the living room with his mother.

  *************

Ryan sat legs crossed on his chair, staring absentmindedly into space. He tapped the tip of his pen slowly on the desk, rocking his chair. It had been three days after his ex-wife had signed the papers.

He should be happy; he should be contented, but all he felt was dissatisfaction. He wanted to wreck more havoc, he wanted Valentina to feel even worse. He wanted her to be in rage.

There was a slight knock on the door, bringing him back to reality. He stared at the door for a while, and sat up in the chair. "Step in." He ordered.

The door opened, and Marina walked in. She stood in front of the door, tucked her brownish hair behind her ear before lifting her gaze at her boss.

Ryan stopped to look at her, letting his gaze sweep down to her feet. Today, she wore a blinding red mini skirt and a black tummy top with a matching red jacket. Her shoes were shinning, and her lips sparkled the same.

Ryan compressed his knees together under his desk, fighting back the bulge that was starting to rise in his placket. "What are you doing here?"

Marina flashed him a smile, went round the table in confidence and stood beside him. "I'm here you check on what my boss would want for lunch." She responded.

Ryan got up on his feet, his eyes on her exposed cleavage. He went round her, his eyes not moving an inch. "Since when did you start doing my lunch?" He asked, stood directly behind her, fanning her neck with his breath.

Marina closed her eyes, bite her lips in reaction to the sensations rising in her body. She threw her neck backwards, her head colliding with his stong arm. "Since today. Why don't you give me the chance?" She mumbled, turned slowly to look at him.

Ryan stared at Marina, and for a split second, an idea popped into his head. He could use Marina, she could be his ingredient to make things spicy. He smiled at the idea, reached out and touched the tip of her hair. "How about dinner tonight?"

Marinas eyes twitched with both excitement and shook. Did...she hear him well? She nodded slowly, her eyes blinking. "Yes. Dinner." She breathed.

Ryan smiled again, his thoughts filled with the anticipation of seeing the look on Valentina's face. He pulled Marina closer, fused his lips on hers.

   **********

Marcella McCartney climbed off the long flight of stairs, a phone over her ear. She walked into the spacious living room, her eyes darted to the woman standing close to the biggest cushion. Beside her, a blonde young girl stood with her large blue green eyes scanning the massive environment.

Marcella rounded up her call, walked majestically to her favorite sofa facing the visitors and sat. She crossed her legs before picking up the champagne bottle on the stool. "What's it you're called again?"

"I'm Gina, ma'am." The woman in her mid thirties replied, her head bowed.

"You've done a good job bringing her to me. Tell me. How has she been at the orphanage?" Marcella asked nonchalantly.

"Well behaved ma'am. She's..."

"That's enough. I will take her from here." Marcella cut in, looked away from the woman, and allowed her gaze drop on the teenage blonde. "And you? What are you called?"

"Serenity." She replied boldly, her eyes staring straight at Marcella.

Marcella stared back, and at a point, she flinched. The girl's gaze was piercingly deep, and Marcella felt like she was staring straight at someone familiar.

Valentina.
