“It is okay, daddy. I think you are forgiven. Now come take your son.” Scar said as she lifted the baby up a bit. Maverick took the bundle from her arms and looked down into the face of the babe. He was amazed that he had any part in his creation. He was simply beautiful, like his mother. As the baby’s eyes opened, he glanced into them and smiled. The baby, Nathan, however, only wanted one thing. He started crying at a pitch that meant that he was ravenous from his journey into the world and his ordeal of being born.
