LISA POV

I stood outside my bedroom door at five forty-five in the morning, already dressed in running gear, seriously considering backing out of the pack run Franklin had invited me to. It had seemed like a good idea yesterday, something to fill my days with besides waiting for Cameron.

Now the reality had arrived.

I was about to go running with Lycans.

I touched the pendant at my throat, the one Franklin had given me. Proof I belonged here, at least technically.

What’s the worst that could ha

Veronica POVMina grew more comfortable in our home every day. She walked through the halls and took over the space that was supposed to be mine.I didn't even want to know the extent of the filth happening between her and Zachary. All I wanted was to leave. One afternoon, while I was sitting in the garden with Jake, Mina walked over. She stood near the bench, looking down at my son with a sweet smile."He looks so chubby and healthy, Veronica. You've done a wonderful job with him."I looked her up and down, feeling nothing but disgust. I wasn't going to lower myself to fight another woman over a man. Zachary had proven he was a spineless coward who jumped whenever his mother snapped her fingers. Elizabeth was a monster, and Mina was a willing predator who knew Zachary was married and pursued him anyway. I refused to give her the satisfaction of an argument. I picked up Jake and walked back inside without saying a word. That night, I confronted Zachary in our bedroom and demanded a di

Veronica POVThe second time I got pregnant, I didn't tell a single soul.I tucked the test in the bathroom drawer and covered it with my things. A strong instinct kept my mouth shut. That instinct had started the night I saw Elizabeth and her women chanting in the courtyard.Around that same time, I started noticing a specific symbol carved into the estate. It was an arrow cutting straight down through a circle. I saw it etched into Elizabeth's ring. I spotted it stamped onto the service entrance. When I checked the bottom of the ointment jars, the exact same arrow was burned into the wax seal.Zachary and I had been lying in bed. In the sleepy haze after intimacy, I decided to test the waters."The ointment your mother gave me," I murmured, staring at the ceiling. "I think... I think it contributed to us losing the baby."Zachary lay silent for so long that I thought he had drifted off to sleep. Then he turned his head and looked down at me."You're grieving, Veronica, and you're co

Veronica's POVGoing on dates with Zachary turned out to be much easier than I had expected.Julius had cut off all contact with me. I wasn't planning to beg him, but I had hoped we could stay civil. We had been together for years, and it wasn't as though Zachary and I were officially committed yet. My best friend, Claire, still talked to Julius occasionally. She told me he was taking the breakup hard and feeling like a total failure."Julius is just a big dreamer, V. It's always one grand scheme after another. You can't spend your whole life competing with his wild ideas. Zachary is wealthy, and stable. What else could you possibly want?""What if I end up like my mother?" I whined. "Just stuck in a marriage of duty and obligation? I wanted to marry for love.""Julius isn't right for you," Claire insisted. "You deserve someone who actually has his life together."I mourned the end of my relationship with Julius in silence. I had genuinely loved him, and moving on wasn't something I

A/N: The next five chapters focus on Veronica and shed light on Alexander’s current situation. Feel free to skip them if you prefer to follow the main storyline.Veronica POVSeven years ago.The Riverside Grill served the best fish in the region. But I wasn't enjoying a single bite.Julius sat across the small wooden table, completely absorbed in his phone. His face was lit up like a child staring at a new toy. This was supposed to be our anniversary dinner, but I felt invisible.I had been with Julius for years, long before either of our wolves surfaced. But loving him was becoming exhausting. Every week brought a new obsession, a fresh grand scheme. One month it was a delivery service, the next month a hotel for tourism, and now he was convinced he needed to buy a fleet of boats for regional trade across the rivers. He refused to attend the beta academy. He thought training to be an Alpha's assistant beneath him, missing the point that it would give us stability. My father despised

Veronica POVThe first thing I heard when I woke was a beep that pulsed through the silence.Blurred vision and a throbbing pain in my skull made it almost unbearable to open my eyes. The air I breathed in carried none of the damp stench of the room where I had been trapped for months. I couldn't smell urine, stale leftovers, or the burnt honey mixture that evil witch Mina forced down my throat every day. Instead, the air carried the scent of medicine and freshly laundered sheets. My muscles seized, and I kept my eyes shut as my body prepared for the pain I knew would follow. Whenever I woke in that room, I listened for the scrape of the iron deadbolt sliding back, then the footsteps, and then the merciless beatings.I lay there, my pulse pounding in my chest, waiting for the deadbolt, the footsteps, the first blow.None of it came. The beep continued.I opened my eyes. White ceiling tiles stretched above me, their recessed bulbs casting light across my face. I had forgotten what a no

Emma POVIt felt cruel that public opinion was finally shifting while Alexander lay unconscious on a hospital bed, completely unaware of it.The media circus surrounding his trial had erupted into a full-blown obsession across the territory. Online forums and local news networks talked about nothing else.Zachary's people still clung to their hatred, insisting that his coma was karma for murdering Alpha Edward. Others debated the what-ifs, dissected Charlie's testimony, and wondered if Alexander had been framed all along.Alexander wasn't awake to defend himself or to see a single person take his side.I was back in the hospital hallway when Haley stepped out of Veronica's room. She looked exhausted but happy."How is she doing?" I asked, after exchanging pleasantries."She's awake, thankfully," Haley said, leaning her back against the wall. "She isn't talking yet, though. The doctors think she's still in shock from everything Zachary put her through. She just stares at the ceiling."

The wooden floor of the community center felt cold beneath my sandals.“I’ll volunteer.”A girl in the back row let out a loud snort. Beside me, Sasha’s hand clamped onto my wrist, her fingers digging into my skin to pull me back down. I did not look at her. I knew that if I met her eyes, the logic

My father was screwing his secretary when I pushed his office door open. Wet slaps and grunts filled the room as he drove into her against the desk.My mother had spent three hours over the stove, squinting at a recipe she had memorized years ago. She packed my father's lunch and made me promise to

The Alpha house felt like I was entering it for the first time. Maids walked past me. Guards were posted at every corner, their eyes scanning the corridors. One thing was clear. Alpha Cameron was in the building. The four of us were in the main corridor like a line of silent competitors. Brianna had

LISA POVThe digital numbers on my alarm clock glowed a steady red. I watched them tick by from 5:59 to 6:00. My skin felt cold, and a dull ache rested at the back of my eyes after spending the night awake. I could hear the muffled sound of the television.I headed for the door. The living room was
