CHAPTER 4: BLOOD BOND

"Hello!" the person who called said.

"Yes hello who is on the line" Johnson asked.

"Good day sir, please I'm i speaking with Mr Johnson Blake?" Nurse Hellen asked.

"Yah that's me who is this?."

"I'm calling from the STATE MUNICIPAL CLINIC, please you have to come to the hospital right now it's urgent!" nurse Hellen replied.

"What!, what happened!, is she okay?, did something happen?, please talk to me, is she alright?" Johnson asked in fear.

"She's not okay, just come over to the hospital and everything would be explained to you sir" nurse Hellen said.

"Okay okay I'm on my way" Johnson said as he grabbed his car key and rushed out to where he parked the car, he could hear Big j saying something but he has no time to waste, he quickly drove off at an average speed.

CHAPTER 4: BLOOD BOND

Johnson arrived at the hospital within thirty minutes even though the traffic was hectic, he got out and went inside the hospital in a haste.

THE STATE MUNICIPAL CLINIC

"Now i hope you are getting my point, we couldn't save her life because the disease has eaten up over eighty percent of her system before she was brought here, I'm sorry for your loss, I know it will be difficult for you to take in but there was nothing we could do to help her." Doctor brown explained.

"I understand doctor, thank you for trying your best." the man sighs, he stood up and left the doctor's office, just as he was leaving nurse Hellen came in to tell him that Johnson has arrived.

"Doctor sorry for disturbing you but Mr Johnson just arrived and he is really impatient, I think you should come see him now" nurse Hellen said.

"Okay tell him I will be there in a minute" Doctor Brown replied arranging some documents.

"Alright doctor." nurse Hellen said as she leaves the office.

"Mr Johnson how are you today?." Doctor Brown asked as he enters the room

"I am fine doctor, so what's going on, what happened to her?". As Johnson tried to figure out what happened Doctor Brown sent nurse Hellen away so both of them could talk in private.

"Mr Johnson her condition is critical and she would really need a blood transfusion as soon as possible, we ran several test and the results were complicated which is very strange and I just think we need to be careful because if the wrong blood type is transfused into her, the antibodies in her red blood cell will try to destroy the donors blood cell and instead of saving her life we will be endangering her life" Doctor Brown explained.

"So what do we do now?" Johnson asked.

"I can't say for now, but there is something that happened earlier today" Doctor Brown said.

"What happened doctor?" Johnson asked in curiosity.

"She woke up and she (in a low tune) tried to escape, i don't know but medically speaking it is quite impossible for someone in her condition to regain consciousness, this is strange so I have been wondering where exactly did you come across this lady?" Doctor Brown asked.

"Uhh it was at Bane road very close to the forest, I was on my way going home and it just happened!, she came out of nowhere and i tried to stop but it..it just happened, I didn't mean to" Johnson explained feeling bad about the whole thing.

"I know you didn't mean to and besides you did the right thing by bringing her to the hospital, tell me how many people will do thesame as you did?,(rhetorically) we just need to figure things out and I'm sure...". Doctor Brown was still talking when the patient monitor machine started beeping and he quickly went to check what was wrong and Dorian started shaking restlessly on the bed as if struggling to breathe.

"doctor what's happening to her!?." Johnson asked

"she is going into a shock, her pulse is high and her heart beat is slowing down" Doctor Brown said and asked Johnson to call nurse Hellen outside.

The wavy lines on the monitor is now turning into a straight line which means Dorian is about to give up, Doctor Brown then fixed the medical oxygen generator to support her in breathing but it was of little help as the wavy lines on the monitor keeps dropping, when nurse Hellen came in with three other nurses they had to prepare for the worst. Beep...beep......beep......beeeeeeee

Dorian was going into cadiac arrest, the nurses prepared the defibrillator machine and handed it to Doctor Brown. Her heart beat is below normal, he charged the paddles and when it was ready he placed it on Dorian's chest and surged a huge volt of electrical shock on her chest which lifts up her body from the bed but the condition didn't change, he repeated thesame process again and again then after the fourth shock her heart beat sign on the patient monitor machine which was showing a straight line came up a little bit but it won't last if blood is not transfused into her body. Doctor Brown sighed and went outside to meet Johnson and explained to him the present situation.

"Take my blood" Johnson said after the doctor finished explaining.

"what!?, Mr Johnson that would be a very big risk and besides we don't know if your blood will be compatible with hers" Doctor Brown explained.

"I know it would be a risk doctor but what other choice do we have?, you said it yourself that if the transfusion of blood is not done any minute from now she will die, i don't want her to die okay, my conscience would hunt me for the rest of my life, please doctor just do this for me I'm begging you" Johnson pleaded and after a brief period of silence...

"Alright, this is unprofessional but let's give it a try" Doctor Brown said.

"Okay thank you doctor" they both entered the room.

"nurse Hellen, prepare the patient for transfusion" Doctor Brown said.

"Yes doctor" nurse Hellen replied gathering some items which will be used in the process.

"sit over there Mr Johnson" Doctor Brown said holding a needle attached to a rubber tube. Johnson seats on the chair close to the patient's bed then Doctor Brown began the process, first he looks for the vein in his arm then placed the needle inside as blood started coming out from his arm through the rubber tube into Dorian's vein.

"I will advise that you rest your head for awhile so you don't feel dizzy at some point, this shouldn't take too long, nurse Hellen would be here incase of anything" Doctor Brown said.

"Okay doctor" Johnson replied and the doctor walked out of the room. Johnson turned his neck and looked at Dorian, his eyes full of sorrow and at that moment he said in his mind "Lord please spear her life and i will be grateful to you for ever."

"I believe she is going to be fine, you are a good man and God will not let your efforts go to waste." nurse Hellen said as she encouraged Johnson with a beautiful smile.

It's over thirty minutes since the transfusion process started, Johnson fell asleep on the chair and as he was sleeping he saw something in his dream like a vision. When nurse Hellen checked his vitals and noticed that he is having a fever she quickly tapped him and asked if he is okay but Johnson seemed too weak as his blood shot eyes looked at her and he said...

"I'm fine nurse, only having a headache" he could barely talk.

"Oh my God that's not a good thing, just hold on let me get the doctor" she dashed out of the room. When the doctor came in he checks Johnson's heart beat and his pulses.

"he is going to be fine but we can't draw any more blood from him, he needs to rest now" Doctor Brown removed the needle from his arm and disconnected the rubber tube. When the whole process was done about five minutes later the patient monitor machine started beeping again and tension rises within the room as everyone inside loses hope. The room is now cold and dead silent as the wavy lines in the monitor machine turned into a straight line showing red which means life is no longer in the body of the patient.

Johnson at this moment couldn't talk or move as his body is too weak due to the excessive withdrawal of blood from his body, after all he has done to save this stranger's life it all went to waste, his heart is heavy and troubled because literally he is now a murderer, he killed her.(so he thought)

"It's alright Mr Johnson, you did all you could to save her life, you almost endangered your own life just to make sure she survived.
