As soon as Kael repeated himself, Morvienne's hand stopped moving where she was turning the food on her plate.

The way he spoke with no warmth made her fingers go still around the spoon and her shoulders stiffen.

She was afraid to turn and look at him, her eyes still on the food in front of her as she then whispered in the softest and faintest way.

"Goodnight Alpha."

Standing there and watching her longer than he should have, Kael felt himself getting more annoyed. He heard her despite how quiet she sounded, but the way she was behaving was starting to get on his nerves.

He wasn't sure what bothered him more. Was it the fact that she wouldn't look at him, wouldn't meet his eyes or how hurt she looked, even while trying so hard to hide it.

"What is this feeling?" He asked himself inwardly. "Guilt?"

"No," he immediately refused to call it that. "I haven't exactly done anything. I only cautioned her."

"She is so sweet, but how could one small mistake turn her into this terrified little thing? I have never seen anyone react to fear like this.
