Mag-log inFor some seconds, Kael stared at her, his brows drawing together, and his eyes scanning her face. She wasn't saying anything, she was just quiet, and... lost. "Morvienne?" he asked quietly, getting a bit concerned.Still, she didn't speak, making his worry deepen."Why aren't you saying anything?" he murmured, watching and studying her. Then she blinked thrice as if she was finally getting back to her senses. "I— I'm okay. I didn't get hurt. I was just... shocked," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "It disoriented me. I'm not sure why, but the sound... it felt threatening."Kael nodded slowly, not doubting her for a second."It's alright," he said gently. "Let's just go. I'll call someone to check the bulbs and replace them.""I'm not exactly sure why or how this happened," he added, looking back to the dark cellar suspiciously and thoughtfully, before shutting the door. "Hm."Then he placed a guiding hand at her back and led her down the hallway. Morvienne followed, s
The moment she stepped out of the woods, her entire aura changed. That cold darkness, the emptiness in her eyes, the command, the way she walked, everything, softened slightly, and that dangerous presence she had, dissolved, now replaced by the gentle, harmless air of a small, harmless omega. And by the time she reached the house, she didn't look like someone who had just watched a man choke on his own blood. Rather, she looked like a girl who needed protection. Stepping inside, she barely had time to breathe before she heard footsteps and saw Kael coming down the stairs. When he reached the bottom step, Morvienne lifted her face and offered him a small smile.Kael didn't fully return the smile, but he didn't ignore it either as his eyes scanned her quickly, as if checking if she was unharmed."Where have you been?" he asked. "It's late. I thought you would be sleeping.""I was feeling a bit restless," she answered honestly. "So I decided to take a walk in the pack, get some fresh a
"You have been following me," Morvienne said, her tone void of any emotions."You noticed," the person responded. "I didn't think an omega like yourself would pick that up.""But of course I will," she answered, turning fully now, her expression calm and unreadable as she faced the man who stood some distance away from her. "We Omegas have to be careful, and considering the things I have endured in the past, I am always on alert.""I see," the man smiled and nodded, but Morvienne saw right through that fake smile, and picked up everything in one glance."So... Is there a reason you have been following me mister?" she asked innocently. "Do you need anything?""Well..." the man started, his voice not that friendly anymore. "I have just found you... interesting. And I want to find out what makes you so special.""Special?" she questioned, a bit confused about what he meant. "What do you mean special?""You know what I mean," the man said, giving her a look that seemed suspicious. "So sto
Morvienne followed the stylist through the boutique, her eyes scanning every display. Meanwhile, Kael decided to move around and check some paperwork, reviewing a few notes on upcoming shipments and inventory since he was present. He occasionally glanced at her from the corner of his eyes to be sure she was okay and enjoying herself. He also noted how she handled each garment delicately like she was afraid of staining or ruining it. But what she didn't know was that, instead of ruining it, she would actually enhance the beauty of all those clothes in a way that no one else could, if only she could have more confidence in herself. For Morvienne, only just being able to see and touch such clothes was a dream. She didn't even think she would ever be able to walk into a place like this, talk more of actually getting clothes. She was really excited and selected a few practical outfits. She picked a little of this, a little of that, combining the clothes with ones for home, outings, and
Morvienne could see the tiny shift in his expression as he realized how really close they were. His eyes flicked up to hers, and if it were possible, she would have disappeared, or rather, melted into the seat.Kael, on the other hand, didn't seem to show any signs of moving as his gaze dropped briefly to her lips. He didn't linger there long, but it was long enough for her to notice before his eyes came back up to hers again. They stared at each other for some minutes, both of them caught in the same tight moment before he broke their little staring competition. He lowered his eyes, and slowly leaned back into his own seat again, straightening his posture and clearing his throat quietly as he then pulled his seatbelt across his chest and proceeded to start the car.Morvienne could finally breathe again, her throat feeling tight. She quickly shifted her face and eyes to the window, letting out a small, shaky exhale, her lips pushing forward slightly. Then, she pressed her left palm l
Morvienne woke to light, her eyes opening gently. It didn't start like someone rolling into wakefulness but like she was aware of it before it happened. For a second, she lay very still, listening to the sounds she could hear: the birds, the winds, those sounds that brought her some peace, the smell of the forest. Then, she pushed the blanket off her and sat up carefully, her movement very controlled and calm. She didn't hurry as she swung her legs over the side of the bed and planted her feet on the floor, her bandaged hand resting in her lap. She stared at it for some seconds, closing and opening the palm, knowing it was already healed, before standing up and walking to the bathroom. In the bathroom, she did the needful and avoided wetting the bandage. After she was done, she dressed in yet another cloth the maid had left for her and did her hair, packing it up in a messy bun before leaving the room as it was time for breakfast. The walk to the dining room was... quiet.
