 ‘’Hmm....’’

The young master briefly swept his gaze over my body with a look of disappointment. ‘’You’re not as alluring as the courtesans of the brothels, but your body will do for the night. Follow me.’’

He intended to grab my hand, but I avoided his touch.

‘’I’m afraid I have no recognition of the young master.’’

‘’Ha!’’ He sneered loudly at my words. ‘’Another night, Another bastard with its foolish dignity.’’

‘’.....’’

‘’I assume this is your first time at a royal ball, Second young lady.’’ He said. ‘’I shall be so kind to share the unspoken rules of the high society in the werewolf kingdom.’’

‘’She-wolves in revealing gowns like yours, most likely, bastards, are meant to be traded among the noble he-wolves. Earl Lancaster has agreed to give you to me in exchange for a bit of my wealth. It is your honor to become my concubine.’’

‘’.....’’

My guesses were not entirely false.

My family, particularly my father, was not satisfied with the Marquess Powell’s wealth. Now, they have arranged another suitor from the central capital against my will.

The young master wasn’t even my suitor, but rather, my buyer.

‘’Well, I have no recollection of such agreement, Young master.’’ I did not back down and refused his words out rightly without hesitation. Did my family assume I would obediently follow an unfamiliar young master to serve him?

They must be hilarious.

‘’Your resistance is quite amusing, Second young lady, but I have no patience to entertain you. Now come!’’ The young master swiftly grabbed my hand before I could react just in time.

‘’Release me!’’

‘’Release me!’’ I struggled against his tight grip, wriggling my arm to pull back, however a pampered and well-fed Young master was obviously stronger. He was also a he-wolf, and he-wolves were generally stronger than she-wolves.

Why can’t no one hear my voice?

Still resisting, I glanced at the door.

I had requested the maid take me somewhere I could breathe in fresh air, and she brought me to this balcony quite far away from the royal hall., rather than outside the palace. I should have guessed that something like this would happen.

‘’This is becoming irritating.’’ The young master muttered under his breath, drawing my body forward against him, and flipping me around to face the night scenery, my wrist caught in his tight grip.

‘’Skinny as bones and flat as a tree bark.’’ His disgusting hand roamed over my trembling body as I struggled against him. ‘’The Lancaster family isn’t so innocent and different from other noble families, yet your elder sister appears to be some saint in public.

His breath fanned against my ears and sent chills down my body.

‘’The only noticeable points in my eyes is your pale neck and untamed nature. It’s shame we, werewolves can only mark our fated mates.’’ My stomach churned at the light grazing on my neck, his voice slightly muffled. ‘’ I could have enjoyed marking my fangs on your body. Teeth will do just as much, I guess.’’

Marking his fangs on my body?

‘’Mark those disgusting fangs only on your fated mate, you filthy swine!’’ I snapped, and struck the young master hard with the back of my head. He probably did not me to have other tricks up my sleeves, and immediately staggered to clutch his nose.

‘’Urghh! Unruly slut....!’’ He growled angrily, staring with eyes like daggers my way, and I countered with a growl of mine, albeit weak

Then, I jumped off.

That’s right, I jumped off the balcony with my gown. I couldn’t remain with the young master, or else something worse could happen. I also couldn’t return to the royal hall at the moment.

Who knows what other plans my family would come up with?

My gown fluttered wildly in the air I stared fixedly at the ground, hoping that the landing wouldn’t be that painful. Yet before I could land, a blur of black weaved past my eyes, and I was caught on something soft, like fur, and moving fast.

A werewolf.

A running werewolf.

‘’W-Wa...’’ I wanted to stop the unfamiliar werewolf, and get off at once, but the speed was so fierce that I dared not move, and instead, I grabbed onto the werewolf’s fur out of instincts to steady my body.

The werewolf didn’t slow down until we were somewhere far from that balcony. However, I had no idea of our location.

We could be possibly inside that maze garden because of the surrounding flowers and lush trees. When I noticed the werewolf slowing down, and it was safe to get off, I immediately let go of the fur, and jumped off the werewolf’s back without hesitation.

My body tumbled on the ground briefly, and then I unconsciously sucked in my breath when I realized a shadow hovering over my me, dark and heavy.

The shadow belonged to the werewolf.

For some reason, a strange pressure weighed on my shoulders. The werewolf did nothing, yet it felt like I was facing some sort of higher being.

A Dominant Alpha?

Only Alphas with strong pheromones like them could emit such presence. I’ve never seen a dominant alpha in my life, but I’ve heard rumors about them.

I should remain still.

I did not move from the ground as I heard that Dominant Alphas never take lightly to disrespect. Asides the royal family of the werewolf kingdom, dominant alphas were the next-in-line to demand respect from other werewolves.

In the presence of this werewolf, I have to show my neck to escape safely. My pride hurt from lowering my head, but I had no choice if I wanted to leave this place alive!

Whimper

A warm, damp sensation brushed against my neck with a faint sound of whimper or did I hear wrong? My body went rigid at the unexpected contact. The sensation came again and again, repeatedly until I hesitantly pushed myself up with my arms, my eyes meeting the sight of the werewolf, panting with tongue out.

Did....Did I just get licked?

’’ ‘’Did...Did you help me?’’ I asked carefully, hoping my voice came out as soft as I intended. Perhaps waiting for my voice, the werewolf suddenly pounced, and began smothering my face with wet licks.

‘’W-Wait...’’ The force knocked me onto my back, yet the werewolf showed no sign of stopping any moment.

‘’Wait...!’’

‘’Wait....!’’

‘’H-Hold on...!’’

At some point, I gave up and just surrendered to the werewolf’s mighty frame. When the werewolf finally ceased the tongue attacks, and just held my gaze, I could finally say words brewing in my heart.

‘’Though you saved me from that young master, I do not like that attacked my face.’’ I said bluntly. Two he-wolves have nearly assaulted me, and this werewolf just became a third he-wolf.

Whimper.

The werewolf lowered his big head with a low whine for a second time, and this time, I realized that I hadn’t imagine the first one.

Why was a dominant alpha....kind to me?

‘’Still, you have my thanks.’’ I did not forget to express my sincere gratitude. ‘’May I the honor of seeing your face?’’

Please don’t be as invasive as your werewolf.

I prayed that the identity of the werewolf was not another lustful young master. Although, the behavior had already lowered my slight expectations. Still, I found it odd that a werewolf could act as intimately as that with another aside his fated mate.

The werewolf, with a color darker than the night sky, held my gaze for a brief moment, before retreating backward.

I released a sigh of relief as the weight was lifted off my body, and I could finally breathe and sit up.

Crack

My eyes grew wide as I witnessed the werewolf shifting from his four paws and to a pair of long legs.
