She did, a little. "You aren't going to tell me what a stupid mistake I made?"

"Want me to?" He lifted an eyebrow. She'd just dropped three of his shifters without breaking a sweat. Sharon might have been the pack outcast, but he'd be a fool not to recognize what she was capable of now. She was still fragile as an Omega, but this strength that had surfaced within her was far from.

"Not particularly." She was still speaking edgily, and her hand gripped her mug more tightly, but she wasn't quite shaking anymore.

He waited until she drew a deep breath and actually swallowed some coffee before saying, "How long did those three assholes mess with you before you got out of the pack?"

She sighed and set her mug down. "Since I was a kid. They always called me human, weak, worthless.you know, all the classics." Her finger traced the edge of the mug. "I thought they'd have outgrown it by now. Guess not."
