MEETING HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME II

Emma was appalled, and for a minute she couldn't move or say anything. The words which Derek had spoken hung heavily on her, it numbed her actually for a minute.

Of all the things the stupid jerk could attribute to her; a mistress? And the way he looked at her, like she was some piece of trash.

"Hey, are you dumb too??" He asked with a gibe, unfolding his hands from each other.

Then removing an imaginary tint from his hair, he looked at her in disgust, from her hair which she knew was cripsy with dust, to her feet which were not faring better either in those tight white tennis shoe.

He hissed after the eye travel, and put his hands into the front pockets of his denim jeans, still staring down at her in contempt.

That look again, Emma thought as she cringed unknowingly to her, weakened her, maybe because she had always been attributed to the goddess Venus.

Her beauty had got her out of alot of troubles back in Florida. She even liked to think sometimes, that her father disliked her because his associates get taken to her at first sight than Amelia. But then her sister never acted out like she noticed it, or perhaps she hadn'tcared.

But this is some weird place in England, and it seems that her beauty potent has faded. Emma sighed worriedly at the thought.

"Clem get me the phone! Seems we have a case of an intruder or whatever in Mr Jason's place" Derek called out to the guy closest to the tail of the truck, while turning around to look distastefully at Emma.

He had watched the girl zone out in thoughts, and thought that, perhaps, she was looking for a lie to buy them over with. He believed that she couldn't be the owner of this beautiful house.

Clem, a tall lean guy got the phone out of the driver's seat and brought it to Derek, while looking at Emma pitifully.

He thought the human girl looked lost and innocent, but beautiful even though she was clothed in dust.

He still wondered what she was doing out here alone.

'Was she a spy?' He thought.

No, she looked too innocent for that.

She might be a runaway from home, and he promised to help the human find her away if she was actually lost.

But for now, he stayed and watch to see what his best friend, the alpha's son will do.

Derek dialled the company's hotline, without hesitation, still staring at the girl in front of him. It rang for a while, and picked.

"Hello, Peipei company here"  A female voice said over the phone.

"Yeah, it's Derek" He said impatiently..

Wondering again why his dad sent him to this company for his punishment. He could have just told him to run 50 laps around the packs' training ground. It wouldn't have been easy, but it was better that working with humans for 2 months.

"Oh Derek, what's the issue?" The voice now sultry, cooed.

And Derek knew at that moment, that it was Cassey that was on the phone. The bitch has been all over him since he arrived at the company last week.

"Nothing much Cassey. Just wanted to really confirm the house on No 13 moonway. There is a girl that we saw loitering around the house, claiming to be Mr Jason's daughter, but she seems deranged and…"

This off-handed  insult  snapped Emma out of the haze she had been in, and she wondered again if she was really okay. If she was alone, she would have smacked her head herself.

Her anger now rising, she thought how she could have let a guy from nowhere speak that way to her. She's Emma for godsake!, and she wasn't respected by her peers for nothing!

With that reinstated knowledge, Emma hurriedly grabbed the phone from Derek's ear, threw it on the floor, and smashed it underneath her shoe. She looked up at him, and smiled devilishly, feeling a bit content.

"What the hell" Derek screamed, walking closer to her. He felt so annoyed at the human girl, and wanted to hold and shake her, till she apologizes.

She wasn't a wolf, else she would have been dealt with accordingly. He thought.

But before He could carry out his thoughts of shaking the life out of her, Clem held him back, and shook his head negatively.

Derek  hissed loudly, running his hands on his hair while restraining himself. He  looked at the girl in anger.

'She was lucky', he thought.

He didn't want to get in trouble with his dad over a human again. He didn't know what the punishment would be this time around.

But Emma, not knowing Derek's short temper and inner turmoil, threw him a smirk, keeping her hands akimbo.

Derek couldn't hold it in again. In the fit of rage, He  swatted Clem's hands and stretched out his hands to hold Emma, but to his greatest astonishment,he found himself on the floor within few seconds.

Derek winced in a pain, and although it disappeared after a few seconds, it left him feeling bewildered. He couldn't explain what had just happened.

Whatever had just happened, occurred very fast.  He snapped out of his thinking haze when Maru, his wolf started laughing at  him.

"Shouldn't you be on my side, a girl just tripped us.." He said, forgetting that he was still on the ground.

"Nah, she tripped you,not me. It was funny to watch, but I'm actually disappointed." Maru said

"I'm  going to kill her then" Derek thought, determined.

"It  seems you want to work in a sawmill, this time around. But she is actually beautiful, and smells very nice..very nice for a human" Maru said, not sure if he should tell Derek that the human girl might be his mate. He knew the guy would throw a fit.

Derek scoffed at Maru's words and looked around to see his colleagues near the truck  still rolling on fits of laughter, and remembered that he was still on the floor.

He wondered what his father would say if he had seen this, and shuddered.

He looked up to see Emma folding her arms across her chest, with a disdainful look, and then she whistled.

Derek saw red, he would deal with her in a minute.

He tried standing gracefully as a human, but tripped clumsily for a reason he couldn't tell.

Today's wasn't just going well, he thought while holding the door frame and standing up. Jumping up like the usual might let the girl in on what he really is. He wouldn't want that. His father might kill him.

"What did you just do?" He asked Emma in angry voice tainted with a little amazement, as he dusted off his jeans. The human was really something, he thought.

But Emma didn't reply or look at him at all. Her attention was on Clem.

"What are you hotties doing here?"  She had asked Clem, battling her eyelids and smiling.

'Did she just tune him off? Did a human just tune him off, for the first time' Derek thought, gritting his teeth.

"Yeah, she sure has guts.." His wolf said.

"Shut  up " He said, as he could tell that Maru would soon start taunting him.

He could see Clem talking, and Shane bickering with Leo by the truck.

"We were contracted by Mr Jason to clean this place"  Clem replied, blushing.

Derek scoffed. The girl already had the beta's son wrapped around her fingers.

"Okay" She replied. "Mr Jason is my Father, You guys should come in, the place is a real mess" She stated, and walked into the house, with her head up high.

Shane whistled.

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   ANNABEL’S TRIAL

Emma’s eyes were as active as anything active as she watched the elders slowly walk into the hall reserved for judging cases, like Annabel’s. As she watched them, her feet kept dancing on the floor in a funny unsteady motion; she was unsteady. One, one. Then two, two. Then one two. Once, Amelia had looked at her, with a piqued eyebrow. ‘What is that?’ Her eyes seemed to ask, but Emma had given no answer. What is it? It should be what are they?! When they were hurrying over to the hall, after convincing the guards that they would be around for the trial too, her sister had whispered that the cabin, her parent’s cabin, had been burnt by the master, Slediv. It had brought Emma up short, making her stagger on her feet for two reasons. That Slediv had really traced them, even without her then, and that the cabin was burnt; the loss it meant for her parents. Would they regret helping her then? Prescott didn’t think so. But Emma was still worried about it, just like her mind had tried

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   BAD BLOOD

One week later:Emma had run to the clinic, immediately Adah had burst into her apartment with the news that Annabel and Amelia were awake. Over the couple of days in class, they had bonded over gossip, and training, seeing as the latter was the only one that had been sincerely interested in her. Emma had run with Prescott in her hands, and Adah right behind her. And when she arrived at the room she had frequented daily with prayers, and saw her sister and her friend chatting tiredly, she let out a scream of happiness and hurried over to them. “Amelia! Annabel!” She called gaily, garnering the attention of the two females sitting cross-legged on the same bed. Before they could let out a shout or smile of their own, Emma’s hands were already around them. “Oh my goodness, I am so happy for both of you…” she paused. “but give me a heartache again, and I will skin you both alive..” Annabel and Amelia divulged bouts of laughter, with the nurses. Prescott and Adah weren’t left behind,

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY IV

Caden sighed in relief at his mate’s words, wanting to believe at all costs that the years he had spent with her, that the love they had shared, hadn’t been in vain. He didn’t know what he would have done otherwise. Cry, brood? Neither was acceptable in these times. And so, he wasn’t moved when his son piqued an eyebrow at his mate’s words, or when his daughter’s lips turned up—in disgust or curiosity, he wasn’t sure. But he didn’t care. He just hung on to the thread that his mate was spinning with. “I didn’t cheat on my mate, I’m sure he would have found out if I had done so, considering the mate bond and all that…” There was a pause, where relief sunk its foothold the more in Caden and his children. “So, if that’s what you are thinking, Caden… if that’s what you all are thinking, cut it out. I was surprised too when Claire had met me with the news at first, and I didn’t tell you, Caden, because I wasn’t sure how to explain the phenomena to you. I knew you held the lineage of you

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY III

Chyra didn’t know what Clem was talking about—the end of the world, and all that—but she knew that she was to blame for Claire rejecting her mate considering what she had soaked into her daughter’s mind about the alpha’s family, about how the Luna seat was her birthright. She also knew that she shouldn’t be working with Arnold. But she was too proud to concede to that, to concede to anyone, and so she shrugged her shoulders to Clem’s question. In the next second, she saw why that had been a wrong play on her part. When she saw Clem fume in anger, when she saw Claire glare at her stinkingly, when she saw her mate watch her like she was foolish, she knew that she had made a mistake. It would have been best if she had kept quiet, than giving off that nonchalant attitude. But her pride held her back from apologizing. Why should she apologize for being a mother caring to give her daughter the best? “Mother, are you so daft that…” Clem was saying when his father shouted him down. Caden

At this point, Clem didn’t know what to think about his sister, Claire. He had thought that their parents had been her motivator to reject Curtis, to follow Curtis up and down, to join the meetings that prince Nathan held with the others, but from the thick astounded silence that dwelled in the room, it could be safe to say that his sister had been acting on her own, without any external influence. He didn’t know what to think of that. He looked at his mother; she looked more shocked out of her shoes and mind than his father, quite expected since the mother and daughter duo were quite close, since his sister had no mind of hers, except put into place by his mother. As much as he was not happy with his twin, he was happy that for once his mother had no part to play in her recent escapades. “What do you mean…Claire?” Caden asked, pushing himself ahead, his elbow resting on his knees. “What do you mean when you say that Curtis is your mate? When did that happen? When did you find out?

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY

What Claire saw first when she stepped into her father’s room was her parents sitting in the living room, with Clem, their backs hunched, the air filled with pregnant silence, waiting. They were waiting for her. She knew it from the moment she had dropped a note in Clem’s mind that she was on her way home. That he hadn’t bothered with a response, should have been enough to let her know that her twin was still angry with her. But she had held out hope, until she had reached the borders of the pack and he hadn’t been waiting for her. This was very different from the times they had quarrels. She knew, however, that this quarrel was different. She had denied her mate, because of the throne; had gone ahead to push Emma away from the pack; and when Derek still hadn’t chosen her, she had returned to Curtis because he was an Alpha. Would she have returned to him if he wasn’t that? She didn’t know. That was the truth. She didn’t know. She might have gone back to Curtis, even if he wasn’t a
