The council chamber was still humming with muffled whispers after the exile. It was the first meeting since that time, and they finally kept hush when Damien finally allowed himself to sit. His body felt heavy, tired, and too warm from the wave of anger that had carried him through the entire meeting. Aria remained close, helping him each time his breath hitched.

For a moment, they both thought the worst had passed, but they were wrong.

  • THE ALPHA'S DEFIANT MATE   Validations

Snow covered the courtyard that morning. The sky was a soft grey, the kind that made every breath come out as fog. Wolves gathered in long rows, silent but curious, as the main gates creaked open.Selene stepped through. She looked thinner than before, her once-perfect braids now undone, her robes replaced by travel-worn furs. But her eyes were sharp, proud, and calculating; they had not changed. Not even exile could dim them.Damien stood at the front of the courtyard, with Aria at his side. Their hands were close, almost touching, but not quite. The tension between them hummed like a quiet storm.Selene’s gaze flicked first to her son. Then, sharply to Aria. Aria bowed respectfully. “Welcome home, Luna Selene.”Selene did not return the greeting. Her chin lifted, and her eyes swept over Aria like she was examining a stain on the floor.Damien noticed, and his jaw tightened. “Mother,” he said calmly. “You asked for a hearing. You have it.”Selene smiled, a thin, dangerous smile. “Tha

The gates slammed shut behind Selene. The echo carried all the way through the northern courtyard; it was very sharp and rough, like the last note of a broken song. Damien stood there for a long moment, his shoulders stiff, his jaw clenched so hard a pulse jumped at the side of his neck.Aria didn’t speak yet. She knew this was not the time for words. Sometimes silence was the only gentle thing left.Damien exhaled slowly, releasing a shudder through his chest. “It’s done,” he said, not as a whisper or a victory.Aria stepped closer. His back was still bruised from the attack, and even though his wounds had mostly healed, some pains lived deeper than the skin.“Are you alright?” she asked softly.“No,” he admitted. There was no point lying. At least, not to her. “She’s my mother, Aria. And I just..”“You protected me,” she said before he could finish. “You protected the pack.”Damien turned to her then. His eyes were tired, red at the edges, touched with something old... something wou

His body felt heavy, tired, and too warm from the wave of anger that had carried him through the entire meeting. Aria remained close, helping him each time his breath hitched. For a moment, they both thought the worst had passed, but they were wrong.Orion burst into the room so fast the doors slammed against the stone walls. His eyes were sharp in a way that made Aria’s stomach drop.“Alpha,” he said, voice too tense, “we have a problem.”Damien straightened in his chair. “What now?”Orion lifted something from inside his coat, an empty leather pouch with a torn flap.“The second message that we seized,” Orion said slowly, almost unbelieving, “is gone.”Aria froze.Damien’s brows pulled together. “What do you mean, gone?”“The servant Joren… he’s gone too.” Orion’s voice grew harder. “He left befo

Aria flinched, tears glimmering in her eyes. Damien’s face didn’t move, but his voice shook the hall. “Enough.”The word echoed, deep and final. Everyone stood still as his voice resonated in the building. The guards dragged Selene back, her cries growing fainter until the doors closed behind her with a hollow boom. The echo seemed to settle over everyone like a cloud of dust. For a long time, no one spoke. Everyone sat still in their seats; no one daring to move or make a sound. A small cough dropped from Damien’s throat like a signal, and the atmosphere was less tense. Then, slowly, one by one, the elders rose from their seats. Some bowed to Damien. Others bowed to Aria. Even those who had once doubted were silent now, their eyes fixed on the pair standing hand in hand. The High Elder spoke last. “The council recognizes your judgment, Alpha. The record shall stand. Selene, former queen, is hereby exiled under oath of the moon. Her magic and rights are forfeit until the day the Heave

The grand hall of judgment had not been used in years. Dust had gathered on its stone pillars, and cobwebs clung to the tall, arched windows. But that morning, the torches blazed, and every seat was filled to the brim. The air was heavy with curiosity, anger, and fear.At the center of it all, Damien stood. His recovery had been swift, though not yet complete. His frame was still leaner than before, but his golden eyes burned with fury. And beside him, Aria stood for the first time not as a servant, patient, or victim but as his chosen. Her dress was simple, pale silver that glowed softly in the firelight. When she entered the chamber, their murmurs rose like wind through dry leaves.“She’s here with him…” “The omega girl?” “She’s standing where Luna should stand…”Damien heard them, but he didn’t flinch. If anything, his jaw was clenched tighter.Orion and Niamh flanked them both, scrolls in hand, and their faces were carved from stone. The twelve elders’ council, each representing o

  • THE ALPHA'S DEFIANT MATE   My Healer

The next morning, Damien insisted on walking. The healers had warned against pushing too fast, but he ignored them. “An Alpha doesn’t heal by sitting still,” he grumbled stubbornly.Aria rolled her eyes, slipping an arm around his waist to steady him. “An Alpha also doesn’t fall on his face in front of his nurse.”He smirked, leaning slightly into her warmth as they took slow steps along the corridor. “You? A nurse? You scold more than you soothe.”“That’s because you act like a child,” she shot back, adjusting her grip when he stumbled slightly. He stopped, glancing down at her with that teasing spark returning to his eyes. “Then maybe I need a gentler nurse. One who listens when her patient asks for… a kiss for motivation.”Her cheeks flamed instantly, turning bright red. “You’re impossible!”“Admit it,” he murmured, grinning, “you like it when I’m impossible.”She bit her lip but said nothing. They continued their slow walk, his steps becoming steadier and her heartbeat louder with
