Ava's pov

“I want to do it. Now.” I said, breaking the silence

This was it.

I had made my choice and there was no turning back.

Shock flashed on his face as he froze, staring at me. He looked hesitant. “Are you sure, Ava?” He asked.

I nodded, my heart pounding and threatening to burst out of my chest. I had said it and I wasn't going to take back my words. I knew that if I left this office I wouldn't be able to summon the courage to do it again.

He still looked hesitant. He got up with my hand still in his and led me out of the office. I was confused but said nothing as I followed him. Finally, we got to his chamber and he let me in.

At that moment, reality struck me hard in my face but I shoved the voices telling me to back out to the back of my mind.

He wrapped a hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. “Ava, I'll ask one more time. Are you sure?” His eyes were darker than before and there were specs of gold in them signifying that Leo was at the surface.

“Yes.” I said, fin

Ava's povI gasped, clutching my chest as a new presence surged through me—something ancient, something powerful.A voice, soft yet commanding, whispered through my mind.“Finally, I'm fully aware now.”My breath hitched at the sound of the familiar voice.Aria.A wave of memories flooded me, it was so sudden and overwhelming that I staggered backward. Xander was quick to catch me as concern flashed in his eyes“Ava? What’s wrong?”I couldn’t answer.Because I was seeing everything.Flashes of a past life.A war. Bloodshed.A woman—me, but not me—standing beside a man with stormy gray eyes.Xander.We had been here before just like the keeper said.We had fought before. And we had died before.A choked sob escaped me as the memories slammed into me, one after another. I saw myself standing on a battlefield, flames licking at the sky, the air filled with ashes, screams of agony filling the air.I saw Xander—no, not Xander, but the man he had been—fighting beside me.I saw our deaths.T

Xander's povThe air around us became alive with a burning need. It was raw and strong, the undeniable Nate bond now stranger than ever. I could smell her arousal, it was driving me insane.Restraining myself had been hard all night and now, this was the final straw. She pulled away and looked at me, her icy blue eyes had streaks of electric blue dancing in them. Her wolf? I wondered.I didn't have time to think much about it as her fingers started roaming my body. I stiffened under her touch trying to control myself. I caught her hands, stopping them in their tracks as she tried to go underneath my shirt.“Ava,” I started, my voice was rough and strained as I fought to hold myself back. “Are you sure?”I didn't want her to regret what will happen if we go on.She nodded early, her breath coming out in pants as she burned with desire and need. “I want this, Xander. I want you.”A satisfied growl rumbled in my chest at her words. Before I could second guess I pulled her close and crash

Ava's povI laid in bed staring at the ceiling as the bond finally settled but my mind raced with thoughts of how eventful the day had been.Leo and Aria had also completed the mate bond. It was weird being on all fours and mating like an animal. It would definitely take some getting used to. My bones and muscles ached, a reminder of the pain of shifting. Xander had said it would fade in a couple of days and soon, shifting will become effortless.I smiled remembering Xander and I cuddled up, laying on the grass naked as we stared at the night sky. We had done the verbal acceptance as well.My body felt new, my hearing, vision, strength and nose were heightened. Now I understood why Xander's chamber was secluded, to help keep the noise at bay.As for Aria, she had been silent since we shifted but I could still feel her at the back of my mind watching, waiting. We needed to talk, Xander has given me a couple of tips on how the bond between Aria and I worked. I closed my eyes and allowed

Ava's pov“Anyway, Endymion kept dying and was reincarnated until he found you… then the war came. Now, you were strong enough to defeat the humans but then the fates did something that has never been done since the creation of the universe.”“What?”“They interfered with your destinies. At first, the gods didn't know but they later found out. Selene was crushed by the fact that you and Endymion died, you both had finally found each other and were meant to live long, happy lives with children as that would be the last reincarnation.” Aria paused.“But she was also suspicious, because with the essence of the gods, you were both demigods and mere werewolves shouldn't have been able to kill you. She confronted the fates and they admitted to causing your deaths.”“Why?”“Because of the awakening of Zerathos.” Aria's voice had taken a dark turn as she growled when she said his name.“Who's… Zerathos?” I asked.“The dark god that the keeper told you about.” Aria said, darkly. “I’d suggest y

Ava's povI was speechless by the time she was done. This wasn't just a battle between the mortals and a small god, this was a god as strong as the older gods. A war going on since the beginning of time and it now rested on Xander and I to end it.It was a lot to take in.I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. I remembered the lightning on my last self's fingertips. “What were those sparks on my fingertips?”Thankfully, Aria didn't push my sudden change in topic. “Your powers. Right now, they are awakening. I'm sure you saw in the first set of memories that there are books in the hidden chamber that will teach you as much as possible to harness them. I will also be here to help you every step of the way.”“Thank you.” I whispered. Before I could say anything her eyes began to glow and a thundering sound shattered the peacefulness of the clearing.“What's going on?” I asked, panicked. Scrambling to my feet.“Him.” Aria growled and turned to the woods.I saw a pair of glowing

Xander's pov)We had done our best in avoiding the pack over the last few days. The hidden chamber was very helpful in teaching us about Ava's powers, I wanted to focus on hers before mine. I was already strong, shaped by years of hard training but Ava knew nothing.I stood in a private training ground in the far corner of the castle one morning watching as Ava struggled to summon her abilities. She has the power—I could feel it. But it was locked deep inside her, untapped. She mentioned lightning but I had a feeling that there was more."Focus," I said, standing behind her. "Breathe. Feel the energy in your blood. Feel it flowing through your veins, coursing all over your body. Channel it to your fingertips.”She exhaled in annoyance. "I don’t feel anything, Xander." She snapped."Yet. You will, soon."I stepped closer, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind and pulled her close. She stiffened. "What are you doing?""Relax," I murmured. “Stop overthinking it."I placed my hand

Xander's povA group of rebels armed with the new weapons concerned Magnus and Draven never the barracks. Magnus was strong and holding his ground against them but Draven looked cornered with his back pressed against the wall of the castle.I rushed over to them, tearing any one who stepped in my path. I lunged at the rogue closest to Draven, the unexpected movement made the weapon fall out of his hand and clatter to the ground. I wasted no time in crushing it under my paw then tearing into his shoulder. The sickening sound of crunching bones was like music to my ears.Ava wasn't far behind as she ran past me and lunged at another rebel. He pulled out a dagger attempting to cut her but she dodged effortlessly, her jaw clamping around his wrist with a ferocious growl.More rebels poured into the courtyard, forcing us to fall back. They were more coordinated than before, their attacks synchronized as if being puppeteer by someone we couldn't see. They knew our defenses well and effortle

Xander's povI know the keeper said not everyone could find the chamber but Magnus knowing was bad enough. The attack wasn't just about killing us, it was a diversion. Their goal was the chamber.I shifted to my human form in an instant."Magnus!" I roared, he spared me a quick glance, eyes wide before retreating with the rebel into the chaos.Ava grabbed my arm. "What is it?""They're after the chamber," I snarled. "We have to stop them!”We tried to chase but lost them.“Let's check the chamber.” Ava said, voice filled with urgency.“Wait.” I stopped her. “What if that's what they want? They could be lingering, waiting to see where exactly it's hidden and how to get in.”Ava was silent as she pondered my words. Suddenly, her eyes went blank then it returned to normal.“Aria said she knows what to do.” Ava said then her eyes became electric as Aria took over. She reached out her hands and lightning shot out forming a wall at the entrance of the hallway so no one would see or pass thr

Ava's povI always thought pregnancy would feel magical. Glowing skin, cute bump, a sense of purpose, maybe even that mythical "pregnancy glow" everyone swore existed.Instead, it felt like I was being hunted… by my own body.“Move,” I growled at Xander, who stood directly between me and the basket of moonberry tarts I’d been craving since sunrise and asked the cooks to make.He turned slowly, blinking. “You’ve already had three.”I narrowed my eyes. “And?”“And… I love you,” he said quickly, stepping aside and lifting both hands like I was some scary creature.Which I kind of was.Pregnancy had changed me. It was like I had become Ava 2.0—crying over songs with puppies, getting irrationally upset when Xander didn’t refill the honey jar, then five minutes later curling against him like nothing ever happened. The mood swings weren’t just real. They were ruthless. The moonberry tart was cold by the time I got to it, but I didn’t care. I devoured it with all the speed of a starved animal

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 228

Xander’s POVThe moonlight spilled through the open balcony, casting soft silver over the sheets tangled at the foot of the bed. The fire in the hearth had died a while back, quiet and tired like the rest of the castle. The day has taken an unexpected turn which I loved so much. A twist that made my heart race and a smile light up my face. She was asleep.Ava.My mate. My Luna. My light. Her hair was fanned across the pillow, her face relaxed and peaceful—something I never took for granted anymore. I didn’t move, just sat at the edge of the bed, eyes watching the delicate rise and fall of her chest. Her unexpected words echoed in my head like a metal being hit by something. She’s pregnant. It should have been a simple announcement. But for me, it cracked something wide open. For weeks, I’d noticed something different in her scent. Not wrong—just new. I hadn’t placed it, not until she stood before me and told me herself. There had been no grand preparation. No expectations. Just her an

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 227

Ava's povSunlight spilled through the high windows of the grand hall, gleaming on the silver fixtures and dishware. For the first time in months, the hall wasn't empty. Laughter echoed all around me, mingling with the clinking of cutlery and the smell of warm bread and honeyed meats.I sat between Xander and Vanessa, my fingers curled around a steaming cup of tea. My stomach fluttered—not from nerves, but from something far newer. Something growing. The thought never failed to pull a smile to my face.I glanced around at the faces gathered at the table. Rowan was teasing Kael over a burnt piece of toast, Kaida sat beside him, her hand resting lightly on his wrist. Lyra was at the far end, wrapped in a thick shawl, her expression quiet but calm, a faint smile playing on her lips as she watched them. There was no tension in her shoulders. They were all here. All of them. And that meant more to me than any feast ever could.“Gods,” Vanessa said, stretching back in her seat. “It’s been f

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 226

Ava's povThe morning sunlight filtered in through the tall windows, casting soft golden glow across the stone walls of our chambers. The fire from last night had burned down to glowing embers, but I still felt warm—safe in the memory of the stars and the enormity of the secret I’d carried all night.I smiled, rubbing my tummy even though it didn't have a bump. It all still felt like a dream to me. I couldn't believe that I was carrying my child— out child— and would soon be able to hold him or her in my arms. This was like a reward from the gods for taking down zerathos. It was the most perfect gift.Xander’s scent hit me before I heard his footsteps. Woodsy. Earthy and a hint of citrus. He pushed the door open with ease, stridijg in, he was already halfway out of his ceremonial coat, his black shirt clinging to his chest beneath it. His eyes found me immediately—still seated at the edge of the bed, half-dressed, barefoot, lost in my thoughts.“There you are,” he said, his voice soft

Ava's povPregnant. The word sat on my tongue like a secret not yet ready for the world to know. Heavy and new. Sacred. My hands trembled as I exited the healer’s wing, the soft glow of lanterns lining the path doing little to light the darkness within me.It wasn't a bad darkness, it was just confusion. The corridor behind me felt like it belonged to another world—a place of certainty and whispered truths. Healers always knew things, some that we wanted to hear and the ones that we didn't want to hear. Out here, beneath the dark sky things felt more real.Too real.I walked slowly, aimlessly, not ready to return to the castle after what I had just learned. Not ready to face anyone. Especially not Xander. Not yet.The gardens were quiet this time of night. Peaceful. A hush had settled over the grounds, as though the very earth was holding its breath. The petals of Kaida’s cherry blossom tree glowed pale pink in the moonlight, and I found myself drawn toward it. Toward the spot we alwa

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 224

Ava's povSunlight streamed through the tall windows of the Blackthorn castle, warm and golden as it spilled across the newly polished floors. I stood at the balcony just outside the council chamber, my eyes tracing the distant tree lines. Smoke no longer rose from the hills. Screams no longer echoed through the valley.Peace.It was strange how something we fought so long and hard for could feel so… quiet.I placed a hand over my stomach. That now familiar queasiness cane again, subtle but persistent. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, grounding myself the way I’d been practicing since taking on the Luna title. Calm. Poise. Grace.“Luna Ava?” A voice called gently from behind. One of the omegas.“Yes?”“Lady Vanessa and the others are waiting in the courtyard. You said you wanted to walk with them today?”“Yes. Thank you.”I smiled and nodded, but the moment I turned my back, the nausea returned—like it never left. I gritted my teeth and blinked back the faint dizziness. I've been

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 223

Xander's povThe night was quiet, save for the faint crackling of the fire still burning at the center of camp. But Ava… she had curled up beside me, her head on my shoulder, her fingers gently tucked against my arm. Her breathing slowed sometime between Rowan’s quiet jokes, Vanessa blushing with Kael teasing her and Lyra sitting in silence after her brief confession. She fell asleep there, in the circle of firelight and friends and whispered memories.I couldn’t bear to wake her.So I carried her.Her warmth pressed against my chest as I walked us to the chambers we’d been assigned in the temporary Ashville pack house. The bed was a bit small but clean, sheets tucked in and blankets folded. I laid her down carefully, brushing a stray strand of hair from her cheek before covering her with the blanket.I wanted to stay awake and watch over her. Zerathos may be gone but he has left a lasting trauma and fear of the shadows. I was scared that if I closed my eyes and opened it I would real

Rowan's POVLyra’s breathing had finally evened out beside me, a soft, steady rhythm that showed that she was finally at ease and I was glad. She didn’t say another word after I wrapped the blanket around her and sat by her side. She didn’t need to.I looked at her, really looked. Her face had lost weight in the past months, the edges sharper now—grief had carved out the softness she once had so effortlessly. The dark, sunken circles beneath her eyes told me she hadn’t been sleeping much. And even now, in the calm after the war, her body was tense beneath the blanket, like she was ready to spring awake at any given time if someone so much as touched her. .But she had opened up.That alone made something in my chest unclench for the first time in weeks.I tilted my head back, let my eyes gaze up to the stars, but even their beauty felt muted tonight. Everything felt… dulled. Like we’d survived the fire, only to emerge into the ashes. But she talked. She talked. And I’d take that over

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN MATE    Chapter 221

Lyra’s POVThe fire had burned down to little fire, and one by one, they drifted off to sleep. Ava had fallen asleep curled against Xander’s chest. Vanessa and Kael were tangled up on a blanket near the edge of the camp, whispering and grinning like the war had never happened and they were in some sort of fairytale. Like they’d known peace all their lives.I was happy and envious of them so I forced myself to look away.Rowan had stayed with me.He always did.By the time the last bit of fire was snuffed and silence had settled over the camp, he rose, wordless, and offered me his hand. I took it, letting him guide me away from the others, deeper into the shadows where the weight of their stares couldn’t follow. We walked to a place in Ashville that we liked. It was a little hill above the camp where the entire land could be seen and the sky felt so close. The stars were particularly bright on that night, I just stood there and took a deep breath. The night air was cold, crisp, almost
