Chapter 120

Shattered Again

Adelaide’s POV

The tone in his voice made me pause, like he already had an answer in his head and he was just waiting to see if I would lie.

I swallowed, then I spoke, my voice a bit shaky. “Last night…” I said slowly. “Athena drugged you.”

His expression didn’t change, so I continued.

“She came to your room. She… she tried to…” I stopped, my throat tightening. “I found out,” I added quickly. “I stopped it. I had her taken and locked in the dungeon.”

Chapter 124A Love That Felt NewAdelaide’s POV“You need to rest,” she said softly. I nodded, though I didn’t really want to close my eyes yet.She helped me lie back properly on the bed, adjusting the blanket over me, then she sat beside me again as her hand returned to my hair, stroking it slowly. The motion was soft and comforting.Soon, my eyes began to feel heavy. “You don’t have to do all this,” I murmured. She chuckled quietly. “I want to,” she replied. Her voice was low. Then, she started humming a soft tune.My brows pulled together slightly. “I know that song…” I whispered. She smiled faintly. “I used to sing it to you,” she said.I blinked slowly, my memory was faint and I couldn't quite remember everything, but I could feel it within me.“You don’t have to treat me like a child,” I said weakly. She shook her head slightly. “It doesn’t matter,” she said. “You will always be my little girl.”Something about those words made my chest feel warm and I didn’t argue again, I jus

Chapter 123A Mother’s TouchAdelaide’s POVMy grip tightened slightly on the feather I was writing with and my mind drifted back to what Rey had said, what she promised me.I promise I will sort things out with Kaius. My chest ached at his name, but I kept writing. My mother promised to help me sort things with Kaius, then we can all be happy again after all of this. I stared at the last line for a long time and it sounded so simple, even though I was looking at the possibility, but I trusted Rey somehow.Slowly, I put the letter down and I folded it carefully and placed it on the table where Paula would easily find it.I stood for a moment, staring at it, then I turned away. There was no point thinking too much now. I had already decided and there was no need to turn back now. I'd only be gone for two or three days maximum.I took a deep breath and immediately I did, I felt a shift in the air and I turned quickly and then I saw Rey standing by the door, like she has been there.M

Chapter 122 A Choice I Was Not Ready For Adelaide’s POV My heart skipped slightly. “With Kaius?” I asked. She nodded. “Yes,” she said. “I can make him understand. I will settle my scores with him, then we can all be one family.” I sat up quietly on the bed after my mother finished speaking, but my mind was anything but quiet. Her words stayed in my head, going around and around as I tried to settle them in. Come with me. I stared down at my hands, my fingers resting lightly against my stomach without thinking, everything felt too much and I wondered why I was feeling troubled, instead of being happy now that I've got what I wanted. I've always wanted to be with my mother and now I was getting it, but I didn't feel fulfilled one bit. I had just found her. After all these years of believing she was gone and she was suddenly here. Alive and sitting in front of me, staring into my eyes and asking me to go home with her. I didn’t even know what that meant fully. Leave the pala

Chapter 121A Hand I Wasn’t Ready to TakeAdelaide’s POVRey stood behind me, her eyes solely on me, her hand still on my shoulder.I jerked slightly, my heart jumping in my chest as I looked at her again. “How did you even get in here?” I asked, my voice weak and filled with confusion. She smiled like it was nothing. “I told you,” she said softly, stepping a little closer to me. “I can go anywhere I want.”Her voice was calm, like walking into a guarded palace chamber without being seen was just normal, but I understood. She was a witch and she had different abilities. I wondered if I was like her, if I had her abilities as well.I stared at her for a few seconds, then I looked away. She looked at me more carefully, her eyes softening as they moved over my face. “You’re hurt,” she said quietly. It wasn’t a question. I wondered how she knew I was hurt and how she knew to come at the right time. I guess her witch abilities had so much advantage.I swallowed slowly and looked away. “I’

They stopped when they saw the scene.“Luna…” They bowed, lowering their eyes.I pointed at Athena without hesitation. “Take her to the dungeon..” I said.Their eyes widened. “My lady….”“Now!!” I said. They moved toward her immediatel as Athena stepped back.“You can’t do this..” She snapped. “Don’t touch me.”They grabbed her arms firmly as she struggled under their grip. “This is a mistake.” She shouted. “You have no damn right!!”I looked at her calmly. “You drugged the Alpha.” I said. “That alone is enough.”Her eyes widened. “You don’t know what you're doing!!” S
