Three days had passed since the supernatural gathering, and Elara was still trying to piece her life back together. She had called in sick to work, claiming a bad case of the flu, and spent most of her time in her apartment, staring at the ceiling and trying to ignore the constant ache in her chest.

The rejection pain had not faded—if anything, it had grown worse. Every breath was a reminder of what she had lost, every heartbeat an echo of the mate bond that had been severed before it could fully form.

Chloe had been amazing, bringing her food, checking on her constantly, and trying to distract her with movies and gossip. But even her best friend's company could not chase away the darkness that had settled over Elara's soul.

"You need to get out of the house, Elara," Chloe said, setting a bowl of soup on the coffee table. "You've been cooped up here for days. It's not healthy."

Elara looked up from her spot on the couch, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "I know, Chlo. I just... I cannot face the world right now. Everything reminds me of him."

Chloe sat down beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I know it hurts. I cannot even imagine how much it must hurt. But you cannot let this destroy you. You are stronger than that."

Elara leaned into her friend's embrace, drawing comfort from her warmth. "I do not feel strong, Chloe. I feel broken. Like a part of me is missing."

"Because a part of you is missing," Chloe said gently. "The mate bond was forming between you and Damon, and when he rejected you, it was like losing a limb. But you will heal, Elara. I promise you will heal."

Elara wanted to believe her, wanted to believe that this pain would eventually fade. But right now, it felt like it would last forever.

Her phone buzzed on the coffee table, breaking the moment. Elara glanced at the screen—an unknown number.

"Hello?" she answered, her voice raspy from disuse.

"Elara Blackwood?" a woman's voice asked, ancient and powerful.

"This is she. Who is this?"

"My name is Selene. I am an elder of the Silver Moon Pack. I need to speak with you urgently."

Elara's heart skipped a beat. An elder of the Silver Moon Pack? Why would an elder want to speak with her, especially after everything that had happened?

"I am listening," she said cautiously.

"Not over the phone," Selene replied. "Can you meet me? Tonight, at midnight. The old oak tree in the neutral zone."

Elara hesitated. Meeting with a pack elder could be dangerous, especially in her current state. But something in the woman's voice called to her, a sense of urgency and importance that she could not ignore.

"I will be there," she said finally.

"Good," Selene said. "And Elara? Come alone. This is between you and me."

The line went dead, leaving Elara with more questions than answers.

"What was that about?" Chloe asked, her expression concerned.

Elara sighed, running a hand through her tangled hair. "An elder from the Silver Moon Pack wants to meet me. Tonight, at midnight."

Chloe's eyes widened. "That sounds dangerous, Elara. After what happened with Damon, the pack might not be too happy with you."

"I know," Elara said. "But I have to go. There is something about her voice... I cannot explain it, but I feel like I need to hear what she has to say."

Chloe studied her for a moment, then nodded reluctantly. "Okay. But I am coming with you. I will wait in the car, but I am not letting you go alone."

Elara wanted to argue, but she knew it was pointless. Chloe was as stubborn as she was loyal, and there was no talking her out of this.

"Fine," she agreed. "But you stay in the car. If things go wrong, you get out of there. Don't try to play hero."

Chloe rolled her eyes. "I am not the one who is going to need saving, Elara. You are the one with the secret powers and the fated mate drama."

The hours until midnight passed in a blur of nervous anticipation. Elara tried to rest, but her mind was racing with possibilities. Why did Selene want to meet her? What could an elder possibly have to say to a rejected omega?

By the time Chloe pulled up to the neutral zone, Elara's nerves were frayed. The old oak tree was a landmark in supernatural territory, a place where treaties had been signed and alliances forged for centuries.

"Are you sure about this?" Chloe asked, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.

"No," Elara admitted. "But I have to know."

She got out of the car and walked toward the tree, her senses on high alert. The moon was full overhead, casting silver light through the branches of the ancient oak. The air was thick with magical energy, and Elara could feel the power of the place.

Selene was waiting for her, leaning against the trunk of the tree. She appeared to be in her seventies, with silver hair and weathered skin, but her eyes were sharp and clear, filled with an ancient wisdom that made Elara feel small.

"Elara Blackwood," the elder said, her voice carrying the weight of centuries. "You've grown since I last saw you."

Elara frowned. "You've seen me before?"

Selene smiled, a mysterious expression. "I was there the night you were born, child. I was there the night your parents died. And I have been watching over you ever since."

The revelation shocked Elara. "Why? Why would you watch over me?"

"Because you are special, Elara. More special than you know." Selene pushed away from the tree and walked toward her, her movements graceful despite her apparent age. "Your parents were not ordinary wolves. They were descended from the original union between wolf and vampire—the first of their kind."

Elara's eyes widened. "That is impossible. Wolves and vampires cannot have children together."

"They can, and they did," Selene corrected. "Your mother was a werewolf, but your father... your father was a vampire-werewolf hybrid, the first and only of his kind. Their union was forbidden, but they loved each other anyway."

Elara felt like the ground was shifting beneath her. Everything she thought she knew about her heritage was wrong.

"But that does not explain why you are telling me this now," she said.

Selene's expression grew serious. "Because the time has come for you to embrace your destiny, Elara. The ancient prophecy is unfolding, and you are at the center of it."

"What prophecy?" Elara asked, though she was not sure she wanted to know.

"The prophecy of the Chosen One," Selene said. "A child born of both wolf and vampire blood, who will unite the species and bring peace to the supernatural world. That child is you, Elara."

Elara shook her head in denial. "No. That is impossible. I am just an omega. I do not have any special powers."

"You have more power than you can imagine," Selene insisted. "You have been suppressing it for years, hiding it from yourself and everyone else. But it is there, waiting to be unleashed."

As if on cue, Elara felt a surge of energy within her, a power she had never acknowledged but had always sensed lurking beneath the surface. Her wolf stirred, stronger and more vocal than ever before.

"How do I access this power?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Training," Selene replied. "And guidance. I can teach you, Elara. I can help you discover who you truly are and what you are capable of."

Elara hesitated. This was everything she had ever wanted—to understand her heritage, to embrace her power, to find her place in the supernatural world. But it also meant facing the pack that had rejected her, the Alpha who had humiliated her.

"What about Damon?" she asked finally. "What about the mate bond?"

Selene's expression softened with sympathy. "The mate bond between you and Damon is real, Elara. The Moon Goddess chose you for each other for a reason. But Damon's rejection... it is complicated."

"Complicated how?"

"He's under pressure, child. The Blood Moon Pack is growing stronger, the vampires are becoming more aggressive, and there are threats on the horizon that would terrify even the bravest of wolves. Damon believes he needs to be strong, to focus entirely on his pack, and a mate—especially an omega mate—would be a distraction."

Elara felt a flash of anger. "So he rejected me because of his pack? Because he thinks I am not good enough to be Luna?"

"He rejected you because he is afraid," Selene said. "Afraid of what you represent, afraid of how you make him feel, afraid of losing control. Damon has been Alpha King since he was eighteen, child. He has had to be strong for so long that he has forgotten how to be anything else."

The explanation did not make Elara feel any better, but it did help her understand. Damon was not just being cruel—he was being practical, in his own twisted way.

"Can the mate bond be restored?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

"It can," Selene confirmed. "But it would require both of you to want it. And right now, Damon is too caught up in his responsibilities to see what is right in front of him."

Elara nodded slowly, processing everything. "So what do I do? Do I wait for him to come to his senses? Do I move on?"

"That is for you to decide," Selene said. "But know this, Elara—your destiny is greater than any mate bond. You were chosen for a purpose, a purpose that will shape the future of the supernatural world. Whether Damon is part of that future or not is up to him."

The weight of Selene's words settled over Elara. She had spent so long focusing on finding her mate, on being accepted, on fitting in. But maybe she had been looking at it all wrong.

Maybe she was not meant to fit in. Maybe she was meant to stand out.

"What do I need to do?" Elara asked, her voice stronger now.

Selene smiled, and there was pride in her ancient eyes. "Train with me. Learn to control your powers, to embrace your heritage. And when the time comes, you will know what to do."

Elara nodded, a sense of purpose replacing the despair that had consumed her for days. "I will do it. I will train with you."

"Good," Selene said. "We begin tomorrow night. Same place, same time. And Elara?"

"Yes?"

"Bring the human friend. She has a role to play in all of this too."

Elara was surprised, but she nodded. Chloe would be thrilled to be included.

As she walked back to Chloe's car, Elara felt different—lighter, somehow. The rejection pain was still there, but it no longer defined her. She had a purpose now, a destiny to fulfill.

And somewhere, deep inside, she knew that this was not the end of her story with Damon. It was just the beginning.

The moon seemed to shine brighter as she approached the car, as if the Moon Goddess herself were watching, waiting to see what Elara would do next.

Elara Blackwood had been rejected, but she was not defeated. She was just getting started.

And the supernatural world had better be ready for her.

The encounter had left the pack shaken—members had forgotten their own names, their families, their purpose. The Memory Walkers had proven to be one of the most dangerous threats they had ever faced.Sophia sought guidance from the ancient texts in the pack's library. The library was a vast chamber carved into the mountain, its walls lined with thousands of leather-bound volumes collected over centuries. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the reading tables, and the air smelled of old paper and magic."There must be something," she said, flipping through pages of worn leather books. Her fingers traced faded illustrations and crumbling text. "Some way to protect our minds."She had been searching for hours, her eyes growing tired from the dim light. The pack was counting on her.
