“The Alpha requests your presence…” The guard spoke, his eyes on his feet.
The room grew quiet. Polly stood, puzzled. She almost laughed.
Was this a joke?
Polly ransacked her head for anything he could possibly want to say, but nothing was forthcoming. Did he want to apologize? Or maybe scold her for what she did at the shrine?
She wasn’t sure, but whatever it was, she wasn’t in the mood for his shenanigans.
“Go tell the Alpha that I am exhausted and tired after almost being killed for something I didn’t do, and because of that, I can’t see anyone tonight. Whatever it is can wait until morning,” Polly said, and with that, she shut the doors.
She scoffed as she walked back into the room.
“What does that guy take me for? A fool, maybe?''
She shook her head; it wasn’t her fault. It was the old Polly who made herself a jest; she was the one to blame.
Pushing her hair to the side, she instructed Veronica to undo her corset while Russo ran her bath.
When they were done, she asked them to leave.
Polly waited until the girls had left before she went to the bathroom. Stepping out of her soiled clothes, she soaked herself in the foamy, sweet-scented bathwater.
For the first time since she woke up in this body, she felt at peace.
Her eyes shut as she thought of what her life would look like now.
From her book, Polly had no purpose other than to chase the Alpha around. She wasn’t about to live like that.
Also, Polly had moved into the Seventh Manor, where the Alpha lived, after a series of begging, pleading, and threatening to kill herself; pathetic.
Alpha Rael was forced to let her stay after the elders intervened. She had to take on a function as a cook at the Manor to justify her stay.
Polly grimaced at the thought of what the old Polly had done with her life. So embarrassing.
First things first, she was moving back to her parents’ house the next day. She had no business being here.
Polly didn’t know how long she soaked for, but when she finally stood up, it was dark.
Polly pulled open her wardrobe to get something to wear, but almost all of the old Polly’s nighties were revealing and indecent.
Polly grimaced as she lifted one after another. Finally, she settled for one that was the least inviting, albeit extremely revealing.
Her boobs were showing, the only thing that managed to stay in were her nipples.
She cursed under her breath as she pulled the flannel over the inners.
Another thing added to her to do list. She was changing her whole wardrobe.
Polly was about to retire to bed when a soft knock sounded on the door.
Her brows pulled to a frown as she paused, turning to the door in annoyance.
Who the hell was knocking at this time of the night?
She waited to hear the knock again before she walked toward it.
“Who is it?”
She asked, but there was no reply.
Polly held the handle of the door, contemplating whether to open it or not.
The knock came again, and then she cursed before pulling the door open.
“Is it not too late to…”
Her words cut short when she saw the person standing on the other side of the door.
No other person but Alpha Rael.
He was dressed in a royal black shirt over black pants, half-buttoned the way up, his silvery hair wet as it fell over his face.
He smelled like cedarwood and fresh soap, like he had just had a bath.
Against her wish, Polly noticed that his lips were plump and flushed red, as though he’d been nibbling on them. His chest was noticeably rising and falling, and Polly wondered how long he’d been standing there before deciding to knock.
Catching herself, she shut her eyes, pushing the thoughts away.
She hated that the body she was in noticed things, and in great detail at that.
There was quiet as they stood there staring at each other, neither of them saying a word.
Rael clenched his jaw, his eyes dropping from her face to her chest, and down to her bare thighs.
Polly noticed his gaze and instantly covered her body with the flannel.
“What are you doing here?”
She asked, folding her arms in front of her, her eyes staring daggers at him.
The ground under her feet was cold, a bit too chilly for her bare feet. The night air blew across her face, fanning her hair into her eyes.
Polly pulled the strands away from her face and pushed them behind her ears as she shifted her weight to her left side.
Rael remained quiet, his eyes transfixed on her.
Polly was getting impatient. He was just quietly staring at her, she tried to read his expression but it was blank, his eyes were just looking over her face as though he was searching for something.
A few seconds passed by before Polly cleared her throat;
“Alpha Rael, you don’t seem to have anything to say. I’m extremely exhausted from today’s ordeal, and I want to rest. We can talk about whatever it is tomorrow.”
She made to go into her room, when suddenly, she was yanked forward and she nearly fell into him.
Polly yelped as she quickly tried to pull her hand from his grip.
“Let me go this instant!”
Polly cursed, pushing against him, but her strength seemed to fail her.
That was what she got for being in a tiny weak body!
Polly cursed as she finally stopped fighting, breathing heavily.
“What do you want? What’s this?”
She asked, disgust written all over her face.
Rael jerked her forward with a force that made Polly crash into him this time. She stumbled backwards instantly glaring at him with a trembling hate.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Wasn’t this your dream? Why are you acting like a spoiled little child? If this is your pathetic plan to get me to chase you, then you’re in for a big disappointment.”
Rael’s deep baritone voice rang out in the darkness of the night as his palm gripped Polly’s hand tighter.
A cold wind blew, fluttering her soft lashes. Polly looked down at the spot he was holding, which was already red with pooled blood, and then back at his face before she broke into brittle laughter, her voice kissed with tears.
“You’re utterly ridiculous. Rael,” she spoke, shaking her head.
“Is it that hard to believe that I don’t want you anymore? Is it hard to imagine that little Polly, who wished you could spare her even if it was just glance, doesn’t like you anymore?''
She paused for a beat, and then as though she remembered something, her eyes widened;
''Wait… Don’t tell me you caught feelings after our little escapade the other night?”
She asked, and Rael’s ears flushed pink; his grip around her hand loosening. Polly took the opportunity to pull her hand from him.
“I thought as much; there’s no way the almighty Alpha would catch feelings from just 3 minutes of sloppy sex.”
Behind Archibald stood Polly, and in her hand was a glowing split orb.The wraithstone.Rael stared in shock as the wraithstone glowed in her hand. She lifted her eyes to him.“Polly,” he called, raising his hand as though to touch her.She remained still, holding the wraithstone.Suddenly, the stone began to spin.As it spun, it started pulling all the energy inside her toward itself.“Polly! Let go of it. Now!”Rael screamed, but instead Polly wrapped her hand tightly around the stone. It pulled her up into the sky, suspending her in the air as it drained her essence. Her hair turned black, and all the energy in her body began to vanish. Then suddenly, everything went still, and Polly plummeted from the sky.Rael rushed forward and caught her before she struck the ground.“Oh God, Polly,” he cried, brushing her hair from her face. Her hair was pitch black and her face pale.“I am sorry. I am so sorry,” he sobbed, hugging her tightly. The wraithstone lowered itself until it hovered i
“Polly, look at me! Polly!” Rael screamed, but she was not listening to him. It was as though she could not hear a single word he was saying.Archibald rose from the ground, anger burning in his eyes.He stared at her, and then recognition struck him.“Oh, it is you, Polly,” he said, a smile stretching across his lips.“How did you get the powers of the wraithstone?” he asked, his feet coming to a stop in front of her.Energy glowed around her as she fixed her gaze on him.“I would love to know… except you are mated to him? So you did end up with him anyway. It was a good thing I did not hold back when destroying your family.”At his words, Polly formed a ball of energy in her hand and hurled it at him, but he caught it and pushed it back at her, sending her crashing to the ground.Rael rushed forward, running to where she lay.“Polly, what are you doing here? I told you to stay inside. Go back inside. I will finish this and I will return to you.”Polly’s eyes snapped open. She looked a
There was silence, and then Boldron burst out laughing. He threw his head back in a fit of laughter, tears falling from the corners of his eyes.At this point, Rogan rose from the chair he had been sitting on. The smile on his face vanished instantly. He did not want to believe Boldron had found out, but the blood on his brother’s hands and the deathly glare in his eyes could only mean one thing.“Brother, I can explain everything.”“You sleep with my woman behind my back, then you make me raise your son, and you plot to make him Alpha. You… you made me plan to kill my own son. How could you?”As Boldron spoke, his claws elongated.Rogan knew it was far past the point of pleading, so he stretched out his own claws.“It was all Catherine’s idea. You raised him as your son, and I never claimed him for a single day. He could very well be yours.”Boldron could not believe his ears. His eyes flicked to Rogan’s fingers, and he scoffed.“I had thought you would accept your punishment, but it
Your Grace,By the time this reaches you, I will be gone—killed, as I always knew I would be. So listen well. The woman you call wife is a snake you have brought into your bed. She is the devil himself. Every single thing you think you know is about to be turned upside down. The son you spat on since his first cry, the one you cursed and cast aside, he is your blood, your true heir. And the one you loved, the one you believed to be yours, he is nothing but a bastard son.And would you guess who the father is? I will leave that for you to discover. You should have been wiser. You should not have believed the words of a strange woman. Instead of seeking the truth, you let her kill your wife, cast out your son, and make you raise her bastard child as your own.The reason the moon spirit chose the Alpha in the first place is because he is your real son. Now you can piece everything together, and understand why the moon spirit has always been in his favor.I hope this message reaches you be
“Are you listening to yourself now, Mother? Can you not see the handwriting on the wall? The reason I was not chosen as the Alpha was because I am the bastard! I am nothing, can you not see it?Rael is the Alpha because he is Boldron’s true son. And me? I am just the son of a shameless homebreaker.”At his words, Catherine slapped him across the face.“Do not you dare! Do not you dare say those words to me. I am your mother.”She seethed as she pointed her finger at him. Harold stared at her hand.“I curse the day I was born. You disgust me. I am not your son, and you are not my mother.”With that, he turned and walked out of the room before Catherine could stop him. Her hands trembled as she watched everything she had fought for crumble before her eyes.“No. No. This was not happening to her. No.”She screamed as she stood and ran out to search for her son. Her bare feet ached against the marble floors as she screamed his name. She did not care about the people watching her. She just
Catherine turned around to be sure no one was listening to them, her face draining of all color.“Who told you that? How did you…”Ronir laughed.“Instead of a cleansing ritual, there is going to be an uprooting ritual, because I will be telling everyone who you really are.I cannot wait to see the look on Boldron’s face when he realizes that the sweet little thing he sees as perfect has lied to him, stolen him away from his own biological son, and made him father another man’s child.”At her words, Catherine swung her hand and struck her across the face, her palm tearing through Ronir’s cheek, sending her head whipping to the other side.Ronir blinked as stars danced across her vision, but she only laughed.“You can do whatever you want this night. I assure you, Boldron will tear you apart himself tomorrow.”Catherine breathed heavily, her chest rising and falling as her world spun around her.No, she could not lose like this. She could not.Her eyes darted to Ronir and then fell on
