KOOKIE:
My blood pressure shoots through the roof when I learn the person who picked up Blue is Levi. I stare at Luna Jasmine, hoping for a good explanation, but she says nothing as I fume with anger. How could she do this to me? I thought she liked me, but it seems she is only trying to sabotage me. Why would she even let Levi near my daughter? I rush to the window, looking out to see Levi’s car pulling up.
“I am sorry, Luna Jasmine, but I have to leave.” I take a step towards the door, and she speaks.
“I know Levi is her father.”
My blood runs cold, freezing me in place as a chill runs up my spine. Involuntarily, my body turns to face her, and I open my mouth to speak, but the words do not come out.
“Wha... what are you saying?” I finally ask. Then I shake my head, trying to deny it. “Elias is the father of my child, and we have been together for six years.”
Luna Jasmine rolls her eyes.
LEVI:The honeymoon isn’t what I planned. It isn’t even close to it. With Blue away, I had this whole image in my head where Kookie and I christened every inch of this beach house, making love. No place would be left untouched. That was my plan. Instead, her period came, and all my plans drowned before they could breathe. But I don’t care. Not really. Because I got to hold her through the pain, press kisses to her temple when she cried, and rub her back until she slept. If that’s all our honeymoon gave me, then I’d still call it perfect.Having her is the best thing I could have asked for, and all I am filled with is gratitude to the goddess. She doesn’t see it, but she’s been sluggish lately. It is a good thing to me, because I hate when she stresses herself. I cannot help but think of the fact that she might be pregnant.I do not bring this up because she will spi
KOOKIE:One moment you are having your dream wedding, and the next you are having your dream honeymoon, which even makes it better. It’s been two days since we left the pack, and goddess, I could get used to waking up to this man with no responsibilities.Just morning sex, kisses, homemade meals, and everlasting attention. Our parents keep Blue from coming with us. She throws a tantrum the entire day that Luna Jasmine has to take her. I won’t lie, I miss her, but it feels good having alone time with ourselves.“Isn’t it too early to be lost in thoughts? The pack is fine, and no one is going to die just because you took a week of vacation,” Levi says, and I turn to face him with a smile on my lips.I plant a kiss on his cheeks.“Who says I am thinking of the pack? I am thinking of us, and how our fairy tale is finally coming into order.” He groans, pushing himself up.“Tell me about it,” h
KOOKIE:Today is my wedding. The day I get legally hitched to Levi. The entire house is busy, and my heart bubbles with excitement, but I am quite scared. The thought of it is nice, but they say love is never enough to hold a marriage. There will be ups and downs. I do not know if I am ready for them, and I do not know if Levi is ready too. He says he is, and will always be there for me, but I really do not know. I sit in front of the mirror with a lot of maids, fixing my hair, doing my makeup.Everything is so busy that I barely have the time to think. Soon they are done, and I take one last look in the mirror before I am handed a bouquet and escorted out of the room. The maids walk me downstairs, where Blue and my parents are waiting. She is holding a basket of flowers.“Mummy, you look pretty,” she says, and I smile, blinking away the tears in my eyes. They are good tears, because thinking of how hard Levi and I have fought for this
LEVI:“I’m sorry,” she mutters in a small tone.My heart calms a bit, but the fact that she is crying still eats me up. I wrap my arms around her, pulling her into me, and she remains there with her head on my chest.“I understand, and it is okay for you to feel this way. But I promise again that I will be here to assure you always,” I say to her.Her sobs quieten. Then she pulls back a little to catch a glimpse of my face. Her hand meets my cheek, and she breaks into a chuckle.“I… I don’t know what is wrong with me, Levi,” she says, blinking away the remnants of tears in her eyes. “Maybe I need to see a therapist. This will keep happening, and without you around to assure me, I will spiral. What if you leave on a long trip, and I spiral/ File for a divorce? It…”I kiss her lips, swallowing the words, and the pain within.“That will never happen, and I need you to trust me, always. I belong to you, Kookie, and that is the plain truth. Forever.”“I know,” she says, tightening her grip
LEVI:The last thing I would expect is for my fiancée to be at a restaurant with her ex. There is a subtle ache in my heart, but I act like I am okay, because I shouldn’t show my weakness, right?“Do you even care to give an explanation about this, Kookie?” I ask, and she remains mute, staring at the pictures between us.I know she has always loved Elias, but she loves me too, and I do not know why I believed she loved me more. Fuck, I sound crazy like a teenage boy, fighting over whom their crush loves best. But she is my mate, and he shouldn’t have her. She is mine.“I…” she begins, her voice cracking.Tears shimmer in her eyes.“No, no. Do not do that, Kookie. I should be the one angry!” My tone goes an octave higher, and her eyes meet mine straight on. Tears fall from them.My hand rakes through my hair, and a scoff leaves my mouth. It is unbelievable that she is trying to cry while I am the one at the receiving end. If she didn’t want us to get married, she could have declined. I
KOOKIE:After Elias gets to his apartment, we say our last goodbyes. Then I get into the driver’s seat with my heart swelling with an ache in it. I take deep and quick breaths, knowing I will be meeting with Levi soon.My phone rings. The screen lights up with my mother’s name on display. I grumble.“He got my mother to call. How cute.”“Where are you, Kookie?” she asks the moment I pick up.“In my car?” I answer in an unruly tone.“You know what I mean by that. Levi is worried. We are all worried, and he has been waiting at the store for the fitting. Is something wrong?” She asks, and I contemplate telling her what I saw.“Nothing.” I reply.I do not want to let a lot of people know my suspicions. I know my mother. The moment I say something like that, she will contact the Luna, who will call Levi to shout at him before he even says anything.“It has been a busy day for me, and I am heading to the location.”“But we asked that you clear your schedule.”“It doesn’t work like that, Mum
