Magnus

I watched without any emotion as Gamel stared at me in surprise. He placed the herbs and book which looked ancient.

“Are you sure about it, Alpha?” He asked, regaining his posture.

“I don’t need to answer to you, do I?” My voice was cold, with my left eyebrows raised.

“Of course not, Alpha.” He replied hastily, shifting nervously in his seat. “I would destroy the other things I have prepared for severing the mate-bond.”

I nodded in response, and exited his abode. As I left Gamel’s home, I felt like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The sun shone brightly, almost in correlation with the joy and happiness I was feeling inside.

I can’t believe I wanted to severe the mate-bond, and wanted to hurt an innocent soul like Astrid. I was sure my father would be disappointed in me.

I have also come to realize the mate-bond might bring us close and will lead to attraction, but will never force love on us. I had come to love her and realized how much of a fool I had been when

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   JEALOUSY IS PART OF MAKING UP

ASTRIDThe sun was still high in the sky, though the tree provided enough shade. I felt sleepy. However, I didn't want to sleep. Magnus said Cayon and the others were on their way to find us. He'd said that about an hour ago and the same thing about five minutes ago. I didn't know how long they would still be on their way. Left for me, I'd have wolfed out and found my way. However, Magnus was right. It was a bad idea to do so. Besides, the forest was vast, and I barely knew my bearings. It was better we stayed put and waited for company so we could get back home safely.I was much calmer now after Magnus explained his intention of wanting to see my family and making sure that Vesper was okay. I agreed with him despite how much I hated going back there."I promise that when we check and make sure that she's alright, we won't stay there for long," Magnus had said, trying to convince me further to go with him. "And no one will touch you. I will protect you this time."I had felt assured

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   NOT ABLE TO TAKE A JOKE

MAGNUSAstrid's change of demeanor and mood was sudden, but it was something I'd expected given her past with her family. It had bugged me since Lana told us about the vision, giving me a tough time. I didn't have any reason to care after all; people died every day whether or not others knew it would happen beforehand or not. However, something worried me. Something about this particular vision begged for attention. Lana was a vampire blessed with the gift of a seer, which meant that her visions were much stronger and more interrelated to those through which she saw them. When she saw that vision, she'd been attending to Astrid's wound, and I could assume that there was something about Astrid or her connection to it all that triggered that vision. Whether or not Astrid liked to admit it, she was connected to this. Something about Vesper's death would affect her somehow, and I wanted to avoid that.I watched her as she stood far away, tapping her foot impatiently. She folded her arms o

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   THE PEOPLE SHE NEVER WANTED TO SEE AGAIN

ASTRIDWe finally left Atlas's pack. Most of the people I had become friends with came out to send me on my way. They looked emotional and were reluctant to let me go.The only person who didn't come out was Atlas himself, and I could understand why. He was hurt and maybe angry that I'd decided to follow Magnus home. I wouldn't have believed he'd go so far as to keep me in his pack until he and Magnus had fought. It was better that I left, even if it hurt his feelings. I knew very well how kind Atlas had been to me when I was lost and helpless. He took me in, cared for me and gave me a home. I found something I'd never known in his pack: true acceptance and love.It was addicting, which was why I didn't want to go in the first place. Every day, I craved more and more of it. I feared leaving Atlas' pack would end that feeling because I didn't think I fit in anywhere else. Yet, I had to trust Magnus. As we walked on, I glanced at Magnus. He was quiet, and I found that disturbing. I coul

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   THE UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

MAGNUSThe steam from the bath filled the bathroom. As I stepped out, I wrapped a towel around my waist. The cold tile beneath my feet brought comfort; I'd been trying to get my head straight, forgetting the hurt, the anger, and the lingering hope that refused to die. But it was impossible when everything in this place reminded me of her. After drying off, I dressed quickly, pulling on the few clothes I had left: a simple black shirt and a pair of worn pants. I ran my fingers through my hair, letting the damp strands fall into place before packing the little I had. The room was already starting to feel too small.I had just closed my bag when I heard a soft knock on the door. My heart leapt. Maybe it was just Lana or someone from the pack, I told myself, trying to calm the sudden rush of hope. But when I opened the door, I was greeted by the one person I least expected."Astrid." Her name fell from my lips, and I was surprised at her presence. She stood there, her gaze drifting to the

ASTRIDI watched him leave, my heart torn between staying and following Magnus back to his pack. His departure felt like a physical blow, but I stood rooted in place, unable to move."I'm going with him," I whispered to no one in particular, trying to convince myself more than anyone else.Lana stepped up beside me. "You've already made up your mind, haven't you?" she asked softly,I turned to face her, biting my lip as I nodded. "I have to, Lana. After everything... after the fight between Magnus and Atlas, and that vision of Vesper... I can't just stay here."Lana's eyes, "I know, Astrid. And you're right. You need to go. Staying here would only mean more heartache. Magnus... he can protect you in ways no one else can.""Do you think it's for the best?" My voice wavered. She smiled. "Sometimes, we must follow uncertain paths, even if they take us far from what we know. Trust your instincts, Astrid. You've always been stronger than you think."Her words echoed in my mind as I looked

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   THE VISION

MAGNUS"Magnus, you need to stay away from Astrid for now. Let her have some time to calm down." Atlas's voice was low, a tone of command.I stared at him, anger boiling through my veins. "Are you ordering me around, Atlas?" I shot back; my voice tight with barely restrained fury. "You think I don't know that she needs space? But I can't just—""Yes, I am ordering you, Magnus," Atlas interrupted, his eyes hard as steel. "You have to stop thinking about your needs for once. She's hurting because of you."His words hit me like a blow, igniting the fire in my chest. "And you think this is all my fault? Don't act like you're innocent in this!" I stepped closer to him, our faces inches apart. "She got hurt because you failed to protect her, not just me. I'm sure you were the one who pushed her!"Atlas's jaw clenched, his fists balling at his sides. "You were the one who pushed her. I told you to back off, but I don't remember you listening! If you had just—""I love her!" I roared, my voic
