MAGNUS

Astrid's change of demeanor and mood was sudden, but it was something I'd expected given her past with her family. It had bugged me since Lana told us about the vision, giving me a tough time. I didn't have any reason to care after all; people died every day whether or not others knew it would happen beforehand or not.

However, something worried me. Something about this particular vision begged for attention. Lana was a vampire blessed with the gift of a seer, which meant that her visions were much stronger and more interrelated to those through which she saw them.

When she saw that vision, she'd been attending to Astrid's wound, and I could assume that there was something about Astrid or her connection to it all that triggered that vision. Whether or not Astrid liked to admit it, she was connected to this. Something about Vesper's death would affect her somehow, and I wanted to avoid that.

I watched her as she stood far away, tapping her foot impatiently. She folded her arms o

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   HER AND HER AGAIN

MAGNUSThe door was pushed open, and the footsteps approaching rang out steadily. And even before announcing their presence, I could smell the mouthwatering scent of gravy and freshly baked bread.I turned from the window and faced them."Milord," the head kitchen staff, a stout woman with red cheeks, greeted with a curtsy as she placed a steaming ceramic bowl on the table. "Your dinner's ready."Two other girls walked past her to set down two wooden trenchers and a basket on the table before curtseying."Thank you, Agnes", I muttered, moving to take a seat. Her wide eyes crinkled at the corners as she bowed again."Tobias will be bringing in your wine and water, Milord", she continued, and the words had barely left her mouth when the lad rushed into the dining room with a pitcher and a goblet, his face flushed."Good evening, Milord!"My lips tipped up in a small smile. “Evening Tobias, how are you?""Very well, Milord," he answered as he poured the wine. I stopped him by placing a h

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   WELCOME HOME

ASTRIDAs I stood there, surrounded by the backpack and as they bowed to me in unison, I wasn't sure how to feel, but it was a surreal moment, one that I had thought I'd ever experience. And for the first time, I felt I truly belonged to Magnus's Pack.As I scanned the crowd, I could tell that not every pack member was present, but those who were seemed genuinely happy to see me.Some of them approached me cautiously with sincere happiness and relief. So Magnus had been telling the truth when he said the backpack had missed me.It was hard to believe, though, as I had done practically nothing for them. The guards stopped some people from coming closer as Magnus was weary of the growing crowd. So they screamed their gratitude over to her. "Luna, welcome back!"It forced a smile to my lips as I enthusiastically waved back at them. The people who got past the guards made their way to me.One of the first to approach me was an older woman, her silver hair braided and wrapped around her he

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   IN MY ARMS

MAGNUSTo say I'm taken aback when Astrid agrees to ride with me without hesitation is an understatement.I didn't expect her to accept my offer, incredibly not so readily. And after all the awkwardness of her fall and my subsequent help.I had almost laughed at her, and although it was a funny sight, it was also embarrassing for her.So when she agreed to ride with me, imagine my surprise. But I'm not complaining – I'll take any opportunity to have her close to me. And now, I might even get to hug her, damn.I quickly moved my horse alongside hers while waiting for her to highlight her horse. When she did, I scooped her up, settling her before me.I ensured she was comfortable, adjusting my hold to support her back and legs. When our hands touched, I felt a pleasurable shiver run down my spine. I felt the warmth of her body against mine, and my instincts immediately told me to pull her close and hold her to my chest, but I wasn't sure how she would take it, so I just held onto the re

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   HAUNTED PAST

ASTRIDThe sound of the horse's hooves against the dirt path was almost soothing, but the tension in my body wouldn't allow me to relax. I sat before Magnus, his powerful arms encircling me as he held the reins. His body was solid against my back, a wall of strength that made me feel small and fragile in comparison. His breath was warm on my ear, and I could hear the steady beat of his heart,As the horse trotted on, I felt myself growing drowsy. My eyelids became heavy. I leaned back against him, feeling the hardness of his chest, and my head found a place to rest on his shoulder. His scent, a mix of pine"Magnus," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the soft thuds of the horse's hooves."Hmm?" His voice rumbled through his chest,"Thank you," I managed, though I wasn't even sure what I was thanking him for—perhaps for just being here.He didn't respond with words, but I felt his arm tighten slightly around me. The gentle sway of the horse, combined with the warmth and security

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   ONWARDS BACK TO THE HOLDING

ASTRIDI glared at the poor animal for a few seconds before sighing and reaching out to rub her neck. "Don't throw me off again," I whispered, and it neighed softly in response."Milady," Cayon began as he rode. He swung his leg over and jumped down from his horse."I deeply apologize for that," he said, "the mare is a young one, and she's just been back broken recently, but I guess it didn't work."I gave him a smile and a small wave. "Don't worry about it."I felt Magnus' fingers plucking something out of my hair, and I faced him just in time to see the amusement dancing in his eyes.I narrowed my eyes in warning, and the half a smile on his lips immediately vanished. However, I could still sense his suppressed laughter."Would you want to ride my horse then, Milady?" The beta asked again, and I replied to him without looking away from Magnus."No," I refused calmly, my face burning slightly from the embarrassment. "I'll still take her.""I'll help you then," he said as he stretched

  • THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND   A RECONNECTION

MAGNUSShe gave me a slightly apologetic look, but it wasn't necessary because her rejection was not offensive to me. I'd made a very pricey joke, and she had every right to react the way she did."Is there something I can do to ease your upset?" I stammered slightly, trying not to sound too anxious lest I overwhelm her.She shook her head quickly, then wrapped her arms around herself. For some reason, the action broke something in me. Because it was as if she was trying to comfort herself and it looked….sad."Come," I said as I gently untangled her arms and took one, slowly leading her towards a sizeable protruding tree root. "Sit down."She silently obliged, refusing to meet mine as she drew her hand out of my grasp and folded it on her lap.She looked so tired it was breaking my heart, and the fact that she wasn't even talking to me so I could at least know if there was something I could do was more frustrating. The silence stretched heavily, the awkwardness dripping from it, and j
