Jake stepped in, looking tired but smiling when he saw me.

“Hey, babe,” he said, shrugging off his coat.

I forced a smile and helped him take it off, hanging it on the hook. “Hey,” I responded in a weak voice, almost in a whisper as he pulled me into a hug, his arms wrapping around my waist.

Oh my…. Why did this feel like a crime?

Hadn’t I just kissed another man?

Funny enough I didn't feel terrible when I did it… It was like Jake was the stranger here… the hug felt wron

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    16. HELL WITH THE BOSS’S LOVER

Ariana The next morning at work felt way heavier than usual. Lena had caught a nasty flu which had kept her home with strict orders from the doctor to rest. Without my bestie present to cheer me on and to make my day fun, the office felt colder and lonelier. I missed her already, and I was definitely going to her place after work to give her the chicken noodle soup, pack of honey lemon throat lozenges, chocolate pudding, and the fruit basket I’d prepared for her. Lena’s absence only meant one thing: Derrick’s free rein and bullying. Derrick was my boss’s lover and the office’s resident bully. He’d always be seen circling innocent workers like a shark thirsty for a blood spill. His constant nastiness was no surprise to me but today, he seemed particularly venomous. I was at my desk reviewing the Torrence files when his voice cut through the air.“Blake!”I looked up. Whoops! Someone must have set fire to his tail today. He was already storming towards my office with his face t

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    15. BREAK THE MATE, BREAK THE ALPHA

Viktor Iron fang stood alone at the edge of the ravine, the wind slicing across his bare chest like a dull blade. Blood still crusted the deep gashes along his ribs and left shoulder from the battle weeks earlier. The wounds, though closed, still reminded him of how Kai had humiliated him. He could still hear his father’s voice echoing in his head from years ago… Finish what I started… or you are no son of mine. His claws flexed, digging into the rock until the stone crumbled. His father had died protecting the purity of their kind. Selene, the Oak Claws previous Luna, had chosen to shield a human-werewolf abomination. That stupid hybrid child should have never even drawn breath. His father had led the raid to end it but instead the Luna had fought against them and caused a rift between the Iron Fang and the Oak Claws shielding the child after planning an escape route for the hybrid’s parents. And then later, Kai ( who was nineteen years at the time) came back and took the

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    14. MADE FOR THIS

ArianaJake walked back into the parlor, sliding his phone into his pocket with an apologetic smile. “Sorry about that. Work never sleeps, right?”“Yeah,” Kai and I both agreed, watching him sit down again. The marks on both our wrists were still glowing faintly under our sleeves. I quickly tugged my sleeve lower, my heart hammering so loudly I was sure Jake could hear it.Dinner resumed. Jake kept talking and Kai kept answering him calmly, but from time to time he stole glances at me. I was barely eating anything. All I could think about was the kiss.Jake finally noticed my silence. “Babe, you sure you’re okay? You’ve been quiet all night.”“I’m fine,” I lied, forcing a smile. “Just tired.”Kai’s jaw tightened almost imperceptibly. He was trying so hard to be civil for my sake, but I could see the restraint in every line of his body. A few minutes later, he set his napkin down. “Excuse me. I need to use the washroom.”Jake waved a hand, still chewing. “Of course, of course.

Why did this feel like a crime? Hadn’t I just kissed another man? Funny enough I didn't feel terrible when I did it… It was like Jake was the stranger here… the hug felt wrong… Like I was being unfair to Kai, not to Jake. When his cheek brushed mine, I quickly caught a whiff of some strange unfamiliar perfume–sweet and floral, which was nothing I'd ever smelled on him before. Why did he smell so different?, I thought but my stomach was twisting and I was too distracted by the fact that he was home early to dwell on it. “You’re home sooner than I thought,” I said, trying to sound casual. He kissed my cheek. “Yes, my love. The meeting got canceled. I’m starv

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    12. A TASTE OF THE FORBIDDEN KISS

Ariana The car rolled to a smooth stop outside my apartment building. The driver was about to step out but Kai stopped him and got out himself, opening my door and offering his hand. My eyes glowed with pleasure… he was such a gentleman. I slowly put my hand in his. The moment it touched, I felt a warm tingly feeling in my stomach. The mark on my wrist flared warm. It was not painful like earlier … just… alive. I pulled away too quickly, my cheeks suddenly burning with embarrassment. “Thank you for the ride,” I mumbled as I nervously fumbled with my keys at the front door. “And for accepting my invitation to come over. I know it’s late.” He didn’t answer right away. He just stood there casually on the porch, his coat over his arm … those elusive silver eyes watching me with that quiet intensity that made my stomach twist. The way he kept looking at me… God, the way he looked at me. There wasn’t a hint of curiosity, formality, or politeness behind those eyes. It was way deep

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    11. THE ALPHA'S UPCOMING PREDICAMENT

*“Bring me water,” she said. “And bread. Real bread. Not the moldy shit you feed your prisoners.”Samara nodded to the guard through the bars. He hurried off. When he returned with a clay cup and a small loaf, the soothsayer drank slowly, tearing off pieces with trembling fingers.“ Now… will you speak or not?,” Samara questioned, trying as much as possible to remain calm. Her impatience was driving her insane but if she didn't keep calm, the old hag would just keep her mouth zipped. The soothsayer looked at her. “I’ll speak,” she said. “But only to you. Not to him. Not to that evil bastard.”Samara’s hands trembled at her sides, not from fear but from the sudden raging anger that flooded her chest. The word ‘bastard’ landed like a blade between her ribs. How dare this pathetic fool! Her breath caught… sharp but shallow. Her vision narrowed until the only thing in the world was the gaunt, defiant face of this stupid soothsayer and the filthy insult still hanging in the air between

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    10. THE CAUSE OF LUNA'S DEATH

The dream had come again, the same as it had for twenty-three years. She'd run through the old oak grove, her lungs burning as she panted heavily. The moon hung fat and low, bleeding red along the edges. Ahead of her, Luna Selene, Kai’s mother, stood in the clearing, her white fur coat torn with

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    9. STUCK WITH THE ALPHA

Ariana The silence in the elevator got so heavy that I wanted to break it. I kept shifting my weight and crossed my arms so tightly as if it’d protect me. I looked over at him. He just stood against the opposite wall calmly composed, with his coat over his arm and eyes fixed on me. I felt my

Ariana "Jake what’s going on? Who is she and what is she doing here?,” I questioned, keeping an open mind. I silently prayed in my head that this wasn’t what I was thinking it was. “ Oh, this isn’t what you’re thinking, babe. This is my new secretary. She had something urgent to inform me about

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    7. A VENUE CHOICE FOR A BILLIONAIRE

ArianaI stood outside Nova Creative, staring up at the massive sign on the building like my life depended on it. My stomach was knotted so tight that I could barely breathe. If I messed this up… I didn’t even want to think of what could happen. Being tied to this place has brought me so many perk
