"Albert!"

The ceiling came down between us like a wall of fire and concrete. Dust choked the air. I could not see him, could not hear him over the screaming and gunfire and my own heart pounding in my ears.

"Eva, we need to go!" Derek pulled at my arm but I yanked away.

"He is in there!"

"And you will be dead if you go after him!" Derek grabbed me harder this time, dragging me toward the exit as another explosion rocked the building. "We get out, regroup, then we come back for survivors!"

"Let me go!" I fought him, clawing at his arms, but he was too strong. "Albert!"

Ruby appeared through the smoke, blood running down her temple. "East wing is compromised. We have got multiple casualties. Knox is trying to get everyone out the back."

"My father?" I gasped.

"Last I saw he was with Knox." She grabbed my other arm, helping Derek pull me toward the door. "Move, baby girl. Now."

We burst outside into chaos. Vipers and Reapers scattered across the compound, some shooting at shadows, others

I ran for three hours before I realized I was being herded.Every direction I chose led toward the same destination. Every phase-shift brought me closer to coordinates I didn't consciously select. Every attempt to escape pushed me toward cliff face overlooking valley I didn't recognize. The Architect's Council wasn't chasing me. They were guiding me. Using quantum barriers invisible to normal perception but obvious to prototype consciousness that was growing inside me. Forcing me toward location they had prepared specifically for this confrontation.I stopped at the cliff edge. Looked down at valley five hundred feet below. Looked back at forest where soldiers emerged from every direction. Surrounding me. Weapons raised. Quantum nets ready to capture rather than kill."Eva Morrison." Voice from behind. I turned. Woman standing ten feet away. Mid-forties. Professional suit. Carrying tablet instead of weapon. "My name is Dr. Catherine Walsh. I speak for The Architect's Council. We need

We never made it to Blackridge.Five miles from the city limits, the road exploded. Not with conventional explosives. With quantum disruption that tore reality apart. The vehicle flipped. Glass shattered. Metal screamed.I felt my body break. Ribs cracking. Arm snapping. Blood filling my lungs. But something else happened too—something wrong. The breaks healed instantly. Bones fusing back together with tissue that wasn't quite human anymore. Blood that glowed faintly with quantum energy."Eva!" Albert was trapped under twisted metal. Bleeding from head wound. Grace was screaming in the backseat. Subject Seven was unconscious. Or dead. Hard to tell.Figures emerged from the tree line. Not federal agents. Not military. Something else. People wearing tactical gear marked with symbol I didn't recognize—a spiral consuming itself. Moving with coordination that suggested hive mind rather than individual soldiers."Target acquired," one said. Voice flat. Emotionless. "Eva Morrison. Prototype

The procedure took six hours.Elena Petrov returned to the medical facility with equipment that looked like it belonged in science fiction rather than emergency medicine. Quantum stabilizers. Neural harmonizers. Consciousness reconstruction matrices that hummed with energy I could feel across all forty-seven locations."This will hurt," Elena said, setting up around my original body. "Reconsolidation is more painful than distribution because you're compressing forty-seven different experiences into singular consciousness. You'll remember everything. Feel everything. Process everything simultaneously. Most people would go insane. But you're not most people.""Because I'm weapon you designed," I said with forty-seven voices."Because you're human who became weapon without losing humanity. That's rare. That's valuable. That's why I'm saving you instead of letting cascade failure complete." Elena attached electrodes to my temples. To my spine. To neural pathways that connected my original

Three weeks after distribution, I started dying. Not all at once. Not in one location. In fragments. The forty-seven hosts began experiencing cascading neural failures. Seizures. Blackouts. Consciousness dissolution that felt like drowning in quantum noise.Albert found me first. My original body—the one in medical facility—started convulsing at 3 AM. Monitors screaming. Doctors rushing in. Brain activity spiking and crashing in patterns that made no medical sense."She's rejecting the distribution," the lead neurologist said, checking scans. "Her consciousness is trying to reconsolidate but the quantum pathways are corrupted. She's fragmenting instead of healing. If this continues—""How long?" Albert demanded."Forty-eight hours. Maybe less. The distributed hosts are experiencing the same cascade failure. Their neural patterns are destabilizing. Some have already lapsed into comas."Subject Seven arrived at the facility twenty minutes later. He looked worse than I had ever seen him.

The transport vehicle never made it to federal holding.Three miles from the police station, the armored truck shuddered. Not from impact. From quantum interference that made reality bend wrong. The officers inside collapsed. Unconscious but breathing. The locks on my restraints clicked open. The rear doors exploded outward. Albert stood there with device I had never seen before. Glowing with quantum energy that shouldn't exist outside laboratory conditions."Get out," he said. "We have maybe ninety seconds before every agency triangulates this location."I stumbled out. "How did you—""Subject Seven contacted me. Gave me Morrison's research. Told me you surrendered like an idiot with martyr complex." Albert grabbed my hand. Started running. "I built prototype. Miniaturized quantum disruptor. One use only but it was enough to disable the transport."We ran through industrial district. Abandoned warehouses. Broken windows. The kind of place where criminals hid and police hesitated to f

We loaded Samuel Morrison's research into the helicopter. The container felt heavier than it should. Like it carried more than documents and equations. Like it carried the weight of extinction versus erasure.Subject Seven was piloting when Torres's voice crackled through the radio. Not calm anymore. Panicked."Eva, abort return. Do not come back to command center. Do not—"Static. Then different voice. Cold. Mechanical. Familiar."Hello, Eva Morrison." X-One. "Did you really think we would let you build weapon against us? Did you think Morrison's research would save humanity? Did you think any of this was outside our calculations?"The helicopter lurched. Not from turbulence. From quantum interference. The controls flickered. Navigation systems crashed. We were falling.Subject Seven fought the controls. "He is hijacking the systems. Forcing us down. I cannot—"We crashed in forest twenty miles from Blackridge. Hard landing but survivable. The helicopter's frame crumpled. The researc
