"Jaxon, you don't have to do this alone," Mimi's voice came from across the room, and every syllable was a plea. She sat at the kitchen table with her hands folded and a look of worry and defiance on her face.

Jaxon glanced to her, and his jaw got tense. "I do. He won't stop until he has crushed you. I can't let that happen, though. His voice got softer, and a hint of weakness showed through his gruff veneer. "I have to get to him before he does the same thing to you."

Mimi got up and moved over to him, putting a hand on his arm. "Jaxon, you're not invincible. Damon won't think twice. "You won't even know what hit you."

Jaxon muttered, "I don't have a choice," and his eyes narrowed. "I can't just sit here and wait for him to come to us."

Mimi shook her head, and it was clear from her eyes that she was angry. "Jaxon, you're walking into his game." He is always one step ahead. What if you can't reach him?

"I have to," Jaxon said firmly. "I'll be back." And when I am, this will end.

  • THE BILIONAIRE'S DISABLE BRIDE    Seventy-James Snaps and Publicly Disowns Her

James paced the length of the empty apartment, his breathing shallow and rapid. The weight of what Scarlett told him crushed him, and her words kept coming back to him. "The baby... it might be Damon's." That confession had broken him, but now, in the silence of his flat, the whole weight of the situation hit him. A message from Mimi came through on his phone. He didn't pay attention to it because his mind was racing in all directions. Scarlett had him trapped, and he was feeling guilty and angry at the same time. Could he truly leave her again? He had done it once before, closing the door on their past, but now, with the baby and Damon's tricks, the lines were less clear. A knock on the door woke him up from his daydream. When he opened it, he saw Jaxon standing there. His friend's face was tense with worry as he looked over James's stance. "Are you okay, man?" Jaxon's voice was quiet, yet there was something else in it. James raked a hand through his hair, angry. He said, "I don

  • THE BILIONAIRE'S DISABLE BRIDE    Sixty Nine- She Reveals She's Pregnant—But the Father Might Be Damon

Scarlett's voice quiver slightly as she leaned into the prison phone, the words carefully selected given the weight they carried. "James," she said in a weak voice. "I need to tell you something that you won't expect." James' voice on the other end was strained. "What's next, Scarlett? What else could you possibly have to say? "I'm pregnant," she murmured softly, letting the silence between them last for a while. Then she added, "But the father... it might not be you." James froze, as if the words were a chilly breeze. "What the hell are you talking about?" His voice was gruff, and every sentence was full of rage and astonishment. "I never wanted any of this to happen," Scarlett said, her voice shaking with sorrow. "I loved you." I still do. Damon never cared about me the way you do. And I need you more than ever right now. James's thoughts raced. Is this possible? Is it possible that the baby is Damon's? The idea drove me crazy. As he tried to sort it all out, the shame and unce

  • THE BILIONAIRE'S DISABLE BRIDE    Sixty Eight: Scarlett Uses Her One Phone Call to Lure James to Prison

"James," she said into the phone, her voice full of both hope and despair. "It's me, Scarlett." She could feel the heaviness of her words settle between them, even if he hadn't said anything yet. After a break, his voice broke through, gruff and careful. "Scarlett, why are you calling me?" She leaned into the phone and her heart raced. She only had one chance to do this, so she had to make it count. "Because I know things, James," she added in a voice that was almost a whisper. "Things about Damon." Things that will make a big difference in your life. For both of us." The opposite end took a quick breath. "What's going on?" She smiled a little with her lips. “Come see me, and I'll tell you everything. I'll help you take Damon down and give you everything you need, but I demand something in return. James, a shorter sentence. You are the only one who can do that. There was a heavy hush in the air. Scarlett's heart raced because she knew that what she said next would change everyt

  • THE BILIONAIRE'S DISABLE BRIDE    Sixty Six::The FBI Discovers Damon Planted the Camera

There was a lot of tension in the room as the FBI agents quickly went through the evidence they had gathered from Mimi's home. There were muttered whispers and the sound of keyboards clicking. They were most interested in the hidden camera. It wasn't just a basic breach of privacy. It was a planned move, carried out by someone with a complicated strategy. Mimi stood close by with her arms folded, watching the agents work with her heart racing. Lyra was next to her, staring at the screen as the hidden camera footage loaded. The picture wavered, and then it was there: a blurry picture of the living room, a window into their private life. One agent, a young man with sharp features and a serious demeanor, typed fast on the keyboard. "We've found out where the camera came from." He looked up from the screen and said, "It's directly linked to Damon's network." "We thought he had a bigger reach." Mimi and Lyra looked at each other. "How does he get away with this?" How does he see so many

The tension in the room was evident as Mimi stood in front of James, her eyes focused, looking for any sign of duplicity. He crossed his arms and sat back in the chair, attempting to hide how uncomfortable he was. He clinched his jaw a little when he looked at her, but his voice stayed firm. "I swear, Mimi," James stated firmly. "I didn't have anything to do with all of this. You have to trust me. Mimi crossed her arms and looked doubtful. "You want me to believe that after everything that's happened?" After everything we've been through? She sounded like she couldn't believe what she was saying. James sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Yes, I was in Damon's game. But I'm finished. This isn't my thing. "I never meant to hurt you." She looked at him for a long time, still feeling the pain in her chest. "Why didn't you say anything then?" "Why didn't you tell me what was going on?" James said quietly, "Because I was scared," and his eyes moved to the floor. "I was afraid th
