Vivian's Pov

I walked into Blackwood Tech like I owned the place, because once upon a time, I almost did. The receptionist looked up at me with wide eyes, and I could tell she was scared. That made me smile because people should be scared of me, and I was here to fix a problem before it got worse.

"Is Aiden in?" I asked, even though I already knew he was, because I had someone watching his schedule. Rachel nodded quickly.

"Yes, Miss Stone, but he is busy and.." she started to say, but I was already walking past her. I didn’t need permission to see Aiden. We had history, and he would see me whether he wanted to or not.

I walked through the office. Everyone stared at me, i saw a young guy with brown hair sitting at the assistant desk. He looked up at me, and I knew immediately this was him, and this was the problem. I looked at him, he was just an average looking guy. I couldn’t understand what Aiden saw in him.

"You must be the new assistant," I said, making sure my voice had enough ice to let him know I thought he was beneath me.

"Yes," he said, looking nervous, good, because he should be.

"Good luck," I said. I meant good luck surviving, because I was about to make sure Aiden fired him today. I walked to Aiden’s office, knocked once, and walked in without waiting because that was the kind of relationship we used to have.

Aiden looked up from his computer, and his face went hard when he saw me. I felt a flash of anger because there was a time when he looked at me differently. Now, he looked at me like I was an enemy.

"Vivian, what are you doing here?" he said. He didn’t stand up, and he didn’t smile. I closed the door behind me.

"I came to talk to you," I said and sat in the chair across from his desk without invitation. He leaned back and crossed his arms.

"About what?" he asked with annoyance in his voice.

"About your new assistant," I said. His eyes narrowed.

"What about him?" he asked. I leaned forward.

"Aiden, come on," I said, trying to sound friendly but coming off fake. "You and I both know you are making a mistake." He didn’t respond, just stared.

"He is just an assistant, and you are treating him like he is special," I said. Aiden’s jaw tightened.

"How I treat my staff is none of your business," he said. I laughed, but it was not a happy laugh.

"It’s my business when it affects you," I said. I stood and walked around the desk. He stood too, and we faced each other.

"You’re getting distracted, Aiden," I said, putting my hand on his arm. He pulled away.

"I am not distracted," he said, but I saw the lie in his eyes.

"Yes, you are," I said, my voice hardening. "I’ve been watching you, and everyone can see it." He stepped back.

"You’ve been watching me?" he said, voice dangerous.

"Of course I have," I said. I saw no problem with it.

"I care about you, and I care about this company," I said, even though that was only half true. What I really cared about was getting back what I lost.

"I think you should fire him before he becomes a problem." His face went cold in a way I’d never seen before.

"Get out," he said, his voice quiet but scary.

"What?" I said, shocked he just said that to me.

"Get out of my office," he said and walked to the door, opening it.

"Aiden, you’re being ridiculous," I said, trying to keep calm but getting angry.

"And don’t ever come back here and talk about my staff," he said. My face heated because everyone could hear, and everyone was staring.

"Fine," I said, grabbing my purse and walking toward the door. Before leaving, I stopped and looked at him.

"You’re making a mistake," I said. He looked at me with eyes empty of feeling.

"The only mistake I made was letting you in here," he said. That hurt more than I wanted to admit. I walked out, everyone was looking at me. I saw the assistant boy staring, and I wanted to slap him, this was his fault.

I got in the elevator and pressed the button for the lobby. When the doors closed, I let out a breath and felt rage building in my chest because Aiden chose him over me. That was not supposed to happen, I’d worked too hard to let some nobody assistant ruin everything.

I pulled out my phone and texted someone I knew who could help. I told them I needed information on Elliot Hayes and I needed it fast. If Aiden wasn’t going to fire him, I’d have to find another way to get rid of him.

The elevator doors opened. I walked through the lobby and out onto the street. I got in my car and sat for a minute, thinking about what just happened and how Aiden looked at me like he hated me. Something twisted in my chest because once, he looked at me like I was the only person in the world.

That was before everything fell apart, before the engagement ended, and before I left to work for his competitor. I told myself I did it because I wanted power, but the truth was I did it because I was angry. I wanted to hurt him the way he hurt me.

But now, he had moved on. He was looking at someone else the way he used to look at me. I couldn’t let that happen, if I couldn’t have Aiden, then nobody could, especially not some random assistant who probably didn’t deserve him.

I started the car and drove away from Blackwood Tech, thinking about all the ways I could destroy Elliot Hayes. I smiled because I was good at destroying things, and this would be easy.

That night, I got the information I asked for. I sat in my apartment reading through it all. I found out Elliot Hayes had no social media and no online presence before six months ago. That was strange because everyone had an online presence. I knew he was hiding something.

I kept digging, made some calls, talked to people who owed me favors, and slowly pieces started coming together. I realized Elliot was not who he said he was. He had secrets, and I just needed to find out what they were.

I pulled out my phone and sent a text to a number I wasn’t supposed to have. I typed a message and read it over before hitting send.

"Stay away from Aiden Blackwood if you know what’s good for you."

I hit send and smiled. This was just the beginning, I was going to make Elliot’s life hell until he quit or got fired. Then things could go back to the way they were supposed to be.

Aiden's Pov I stood outside Blackwood Tech at seven in the morning and stared up at the building that used to be mine. The sun was just coming up and the glass windows reflected the orange sky and it would have looked beautiful if I did not feel so hollow inside. Security should have stopped me from coming in but when I walked through the doors the guard just nodded. My name was still on the access list because nobody had bothered to remove it yet. That hurt more than it should have because it meant I was still technically part of the company but only as a ghost. I took the elevator up to the executive floor and when the doors opened everything looked the same but felt different. A few early employees were already at their desks and they all stared at me when I walked past. Some of them looked away quickly and others whispered to each other and I knew they were all talking about me. The disgraced CEO who lost everything. I walked toward my old office but stopped when I got close.

  • THE BILLIONAIRE FORBIDDEN ASSISTANT    Chapter 32: The Deal

Vivian's Pov I got to the café thirty minutes early because I wanted to see who this person was before they saw me. I sat in my car across the street and watched people go in and out and tried to figure out which one sent me that text. My hands shook a little when I gripped the steering wheel and I hated that I was nervous. I had not slept at all last night thinking about the embezzlement investigation and how fast it was moving. The forensic accountants were finding everything and it was only a matter of time before they connected all the dots back to me. I needed help and this mystery person said they could give it to me. At exactly eight o'clock I got out of my car and walked across the street. I wore sunglasses even though the sun was barely up because my eyes were red and tired and I did not want anyone to see that I had been crying. The café was small and quiet with only a few people inside. I looked around and saw a man in a dark suit sitting at a corner table in the back.

  • THE BILLIONAIRE FORBIDDEN ASSISTANT    Chapter 31 : Trying To Help

Elliot's Pov When I got to the door it opened before James could knock and Liam stood there. My older brother looked exactly the same. Tall and broad with the same dark hair as me but his was always perfectly styled. He wore a suit even though it was Saturday and he smiled when he saw me but it did not reach his eyes. "Welcome home little brother," Liam said. "This is not home," I said. "It is now," Liam said and stepped aside so we could come in. I walked past him into the entrance hall and the ceiling was so high it made me feel small. Everything in the house was expensive and old and had been in the family for generations. The floors were marble and the walls had paintings of dead relatives who all looked miserable. I fit right in. "Your room is ready," Liam said. "I had the staff clean it and put fresh sheets on the bed." "I am not staying long," I said. "We will see," Liam said and there was something in his voice that made me want to scream. James took off his coat an

  • THE BILLIONAIRE FORBIDDEN ASSISTANT    Chapter 30: Going Home

Elliot's PovThe car was so quiet I could hear my own breathing and it made everything feel worse. I sat in the back seat with the box of my things on my lap and stared at the divider between me and the driver. My father James sat next to me looking out the window at the city passing by and he had not said anything for twenty minutes. The box was not heavy but my arms ached from holding it. Inside was a coffee mug that said World's Okayest Assistant that Maya had given me as a joke and some pens and a notebook and a small glass paperweight that Aiden had given me after I finished a big project. He said it was for good work but the way he handed it to me made it feel like more than that.I wanted to throw the paperweight out the window."You will stay home now," James said without looking at me. "No more games."My hands tightened on the box and I felt anger start to build in my chest. "I am not playing games," I said."Then what do you call this?" James asked and finally turned to loo

  • THE BILLIONAIRE FORBIDDEN ASSISTANT    Chapter 29: Alone in the Dark

Aiden's Pov I sat in my apartment with all the lights off and the city glowed outside my windows like a million small fires. The glass of whiskey in my hand was warm now because I had been holding it for an hour without taking a single sip. My brain would not stop replaying the moment I fired Elliot. The way his eyes went wide first like he could not believe what I was saying and then how his whole face just collapsed. I did that to him and I did it in front of everyone because I wanted them to see that I was still in control. But I was not in control anymore and maybe I never had been. My phone buzzed on the table and I looked at the screen. Dad was calling again and this was the fifth time tonight. I watched it ring until it went to voicemail and then a minute later it buzzed with a text. "Answer your phone. We need to discuss the transition." I threw the phone across the room and it hit the couch. The transition meant Vivian taking over my company and me having nothing. Dad g

  • THE BILLIONAIRE FORBIDDEN ASSISTANT    Chapter 28: Vivian’s Victory

Vivian's POV I walked into Aiden's office the second he left the building and it felt better than I ever imagined. This office should have been mine years ago when I first started at Blackwood Tech. I ran my hand across his desk which was now my desk. I sat in his chair which was now my chair and looked out his windows at the city view which was now my view. Everything I wanted was finally mine. "Ms Stone?" one of the security guards said from the doorway. "What would you like us to do with Mr Hayes's belongings?" "Box them up and throw them out," I said without turning around. "I don't want any trace of him left in this building." "All of it?" the guard asked. "Every single thing," I said. "Yes ma'am," the guard said then left to follow my orders. I pulled out my phone and called my assistant. "I need you to draft an email to all employees. Effective immediately Elliot Hayes is banned from Blackwood Tech property. If anyone sees him they are to call security and have him rem
