~ In a relationship with music ~

POV: KAI ALEXANDER FLYNN

🎵 First, I go whip out a boat, no, I can't hit on no brakes.

🎵My life is out of control, I'm telling you nobody safe.

🎵I've been living my life limbo, my ice, it came with a tray.

Evil Jordan by playboy carti was playing indicating that i was a getting a call. I abandoned the watermelon I was trying to cut up and brought out my phone from my pocket. My mother was the one calling and I just prepared myself mentally before answering the call.

"Hey mum" I greeted as soon as I placed the phone on my ear.

"Alex how are you doing? Did you settle in fine? The butler told me you left yesterday while I was shopping with the union ladies. Did you really have to do that?" My mum bombarded me with a batalion of questions and I didn't even know where to start from.

"You were hellbent on making me attend classes from home so I had to leave the house while you weren't around to stop me." I replied shortly.

"Oh Alex" I could hear her sigh from the other side of the phone. "I still don't know why you didn't attend the family university. I really don't know what you are doing in UCLA and at a cheap apartment. If you really want to live alone, you could stay at any of our apartment units. I heard the apartment you are staying in doesn't even have elevators and you use keys, like literal keys to open door. How is that even safe? What ever happened to key cards? Or passcodes?"

I could feel the headache forming as she continued to give me hundred and one reasons why I shouldn't be in UCLA or worse staying at a 'cheap apartment'.

"The house is safe and you don't need to worry about anything. I really don't want to have this conversation right now. And after what happened with Piper, I feel like you should understand me better"

"Sorry son, I totally forgot about that." Her voice went down low and I was starting to feel bad for bringing it up.

"It's okay mum, Let's talk later, I have to go class" I lied smoothly.

"Okay love, stay safe, mummy loves you." I let out a chuckle as I heard her say that before ending the call.

My parents never liked the idea that I applied to study in the University of California rather than the family college_ the Flynn University. It was like a rule for everyone in the family to attend Flynn University and that was of course after attending Flynn Academy. My father respected my decision but my mother still can't seem to accept it. In Highschool, I attended Flynn Academy and everyone knew I was the son of the founders or should I say owners. Well, that didn't end well for me, I got fucked up pretty badly by Piper, my ex girlfriend. And that was how I ended up applying to UCLA and renting the average student apartment, I wanted to be far away from everything that reminded me of my family's wealth..

The sound of the bell ringing jolted me back into reality and I remembered my friends were coming over. I went to the living room to open the door and welcome them in.

"Bro...this apartment sucks. But at least you did a good thing with the interior design" Rowan said the moment he got into the house.

"Hey man" Maverick acknowledged me before going to sit on the couch.

Both Rowan and Maverick had been my best friends right from childhood, Our mothers were part of the union so i guess that was what brought us together. The three of us had an agreement to attend Flynn University but I kind of bailed on them by coming to UCLA. I thought they would be angry that I broke the pact but instead they applied to UCLA too, surprising me because they actually got in. They said it was their own little way of supporting me after my heartbreak.

"We could have just met at the tattoo palour, you guys didn't need to come here" I said after locking the door.

"And miss the chance of seeing your cute little house? No way" Rowan laughed as he scanned everywhere and everything in my apartment.

"Cute what? Bro stop." I slumped on the couch next to maverick.

"Are you going to attend the Fresher's party this weekend?" Maverick asked.

"Why are you asking him? He is definitely going, Bro needs to get some action." Rowan said like i had no choice.

"No thankyou Rowan, I'll pass."

"It's a beach party, I'm not sure you would want to pass on seeing girls in hot bikinis" Rowan shrugged.

That was exactly my scene

"Hot Bikinis? Count me in" I immediately changed my mind and Maverick snorted.

"But on a more serious note, you did a good job with the interior design, it looks like a different world from the outside of the building. But how are you going to convince anyone that you are poor, if this house already looks like this?" Maverick asked and Rowan nodded his end in support before moving over to the kitchen.

Who said I'm convincing anybody that I'm poor?

"I'm not convincing anyone that I'm poor, I just don't want anyone to know my family background. It's that simple. And if by chance, I bring anyone into this house that isn't the both of you, I can just say all the gadgets belong to my uncle. I can cook up a story that my uncle traveled abroad or something so he left his belongings in my care. That would make sense right?" I looked at Maverick for confirmation.

"Dude you are a pro at this lying stuff". He commended me and I chuckled.

"Who wants watermelon?" Rowan announced as he walked of the kitchen with a tray of nicely cut watermelon. Same watermelon I was battling with earlier.

He dropped it on the glass table in front of us and i picked up a piece of watermelon to eat. Few minutes later, we done eating the watermelon so we decided it was time to go to the tattoo Palour. Maverick wanted to get his second tattoo and we were just tagging along.

I changed my clothes and grabbed my motorcycle keys, I left my cars back at home so I could fit more into the lifestyle of an average student. Rowan and Maverick would both get to the tattoo palour in their cars while i was going solo with my bike. We left the house and as i was locking the door, I noticed some dude ringing the door bell of the flat next to mine.

I suddenly remembered the encounter from the previous day, her hazel brown eyes staring at mine as she sweetly asked me to turn off my music. She looked like the typical country girl with the pale pink body hug long sleeve shirt she was wearing and the white flowing skirt all the way to her ankle. Her blonde hair was in a bun which was kind of messy because a piece of hair was falling on her face. Seeing her and the way she dressed reminded me of my ex and I couldn't help but get angry, she had miss goody two shoes written all over her and she even had the nerve to ask me to turn off my music. In what world does that happen?

I walked towards the stairs with Rowan and maverick behind me, but an unfamiliar voice stopped us.

"Hey excuse me, do you happen to know if she is around? Your neighbor I mean." The dude who was ringing the bell earlier asked and I just scoffed.

Maybe audacity was a thing around here, because why the fuck was this dude asking me about a neighbor I only met once.

"You could call her you know" Rowan was the one who answered him.

"Yeah I've been calling B ever since I arrived and her line isn't reachable. Which is funny because we talked just this morning." He explained.

B? Was that a nickname or something? Seeing how he was, i wouldn't be surprised if he was her boyfriend. He had some blue jeans and T shirt on , he also had glasses on. Which was all I needed to know he was a nerd. Was this her type? Interesting.

I think I'm gonna have fun teasing her about this then maybe next time, she would learn to not knock on other people's doors without good reason.

"We don't know dude, we have somewhere to be." Rowan told him and I couldn't be more happy.

"Yeah....maybe she had somewhere to be and just forgot to.......

Maverick's voice faded because i was already walking down the stairs, leave it to Maverick to be the nice one. I went over to my bike and started it, the thought of miss goody two shoes having a boyfriend was amusing and i couldn't help but smile to myself.

This was going to be fun.

~ He smiled like sin ~POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Thank you" I mouthed as I collected my keys from Jana, Sage's roommate. The first thing I did when I woke up in the hotel room was to hurry to the dormitory and waited till Jana arrived then retrieved my keys. "It's fine" Jana smiled, her braces glistening under the sun. "But where did you sleep though?""An hotel" I told her.Yes, an hotel. The moment i realized things could get messy between Kai and i, I immediately told him to take me to any nearby hotel. I didn't trust myself enough to spend a night at his place because i was already having wild thoughts of letting him kiss me. Kai looked so confused when I abruptly stood up and told him i wanted to leave, and instead of asking me so many questions, he just did as I said."That sucks""Yeah it does, I'll be leaving now" I was on my phone during the whole drive back to the apartment, I paid the taxi driver and stepped out just in time to see Kai walking towards his bike with ju

~ We didn't need words. Our hearts spoke in silence. ~POV: GABRIELLA BROOKSI stood in front of the dormitory, arms crossed, pretending not to be nervous. The sky was already melting into dusk, and every second that passed, I convinced myself a little more that he wasn’t coming. That maybe i made a mistake in calling him, It wasn't too late to start calling Sage so she could talk to Lyra and I could spend the night at her place. Then I heard it.The low growl of an engine, smooth and powerful. Heads turned. I didn’t have to, I knew it was him.Kai pulled up on his black motorcycle like something out of a dream I didn’t know I was allowed to have. Same leather jacket he wore earlier today, one hand relaxed on the handle, the other pulling off his helmet in that unfairly sexy, slow motion kind of way.“Hey.” Just that one word. But God, the way he said it...my heart skipped so violently it felt like it forgot how to beat.“You came,” I breathed, not even trying to hide the awe in m

~ They called it love, but it felt more like a leash. ~ POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Welcome" I smiled as my parents followed me into the dorm room.It took a hell damn of a time for Sage to request access for my parents to get into the building, she had to lie that they were her relatives because the lady at the front desk had already seen Sage's parents the day she resumed. I was really grateful for the fact that Sage's roommate wasn't around, because according to Sage, the girl was very uptight and strict on morals. There was no way she was going to cover up for me."Is this your side of the room?" My Dad asked pointing to Sage's roommate side of the room. That side of the room looked very composed and put together, decorated with minimal colors, it had posters of the sayings of some great philosophers, the study table next to her bed had multiple textbooks, notebooks and looked very neat. While Sage's side of the room was...oh well...it was neat too but just ver

~Parenting is guidance, not ownership.~ POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Arghhhhhhhh" I screamed out loud finally after continuous internal scolding since that night last weekend. Everything that happened at the beach party kept replaying in my mind and messing with my head. It was supposed to be a fun party, just me and my friends dancing and having a good time. But of course, things took a turn when he showed up. Kai. Like what the fuck was he doing there? What happened to playing songs and disturbing the neighborhood with it? And just my luck—he and his friends managed to rope my new friends and I into a truth or dare game.My first ever party did not go as planned and i ended up with the most awkward situation ever. I regretted raising my hand to be a volunteer when it was Kai's turn even before knowing what the dare was. Sage had the nerve to stab me in the back and said what the dare was.....Kai had to do a body shot… off me.I froze for a

  • THE BILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR   CHAPTER SIX: TRUTH OR DARE

~ What's this feeling? ~ POV: KAI ALEXANDER FLYNN I sighed for the umpteenth time as I listened to Rowan talk about some girl he met at a house party two days ago. I thought the beach party would be a nice way for me to pass time but now that I was here, I sincerely believe that I would be better off listening to playboy carti at home.Nothing was interesting to me these days, video games, alcohol, parties, sex, nothing gave me purpose in life anymore. Even attending classes seemed like a favor I had to do for my parents so they wouldn't be disappointed in me. But well, there was a certain hazel eye girl that seemed to intrigue me but she was off limits. She reminded me too much of piper with all that good girl thing she had going on and I'd better stay away. Piper was practically the main reason i was a mess and I'd legit not want a repeat of that, I was better off in my fuck boy era.And what did that girl call me, Hardin what wannabe? I

I was already putting on my beach wear which was a body hugging black singlet and matching shorts that stopped just above the thigh. I planned on putting on my beach wear when I got to the beach but Sage was coming with a friend to pick me up so I decided to wear my tankini from home. Why? Because I'd feel more safe wearing something that revealing with her and someone she knows, than in a taxi with a total stranger.I applied sunscreen all over the exposed part of my body and put it into the little bag i was going to carry along, just incase I needed to reapply. I made use of my vanill
