After his meeting with Valdez, he headed back for the movie. He was silent all through out the drive, his assistant had steal glances at him occasionally through the rearview mirror. Her lips were pursed, concern clearly etched on her face, but she said nothing.

The harsh trill of Carmilla’s phone tore through the soft hum of her conversation with Mia, snapping the calm like a thread. She glanced at the screen and saw the name flashing—Crystal Harrington. Her thumb hovered over the reject button. She didn’t want to answer. Not now. Not after everything with Harrison.Mia noticed her hesitation.“You should pick it,” she said softly. “It might be important.”Carmilla sighed and looked at the phone again. It continued to ring, persistent, demanding. With a reluctant swipe, she answered.“Carmilla, where is my brother? Why isn’t he answering his calls?” Crystal’s voice came fast, sharp, and anxious.Carmilla’s shoulders tensed. The sound of Harrison’s name hit her like a slap. It was a name she was trying hard to forget—at least for the moment.“I don’t know,” she said, her voice clipped. “Try calling him again. Maybe he’ll answer if he sees the missed calls.”Crystal paused. The silence on the other end grew thick. When she spoke again, her voi

Carmilla headed straight to the mortuary where Valdez’s body was being taken. Since there was no remaining relatives of her or someone she could reach out too, she decided to take the responsibility. She didn't just want her body to be there, she deserved better. She signed the final paperwork with a hand that barely held steady, her signature scrawling slightly at the end. She didn’t cry, not here. The cremation was being handled faster without delay, carmilla just waited patiently in the room.Once it was done, the person in charge entered the room and handed the small, sealed jar over to her and left. The jar was made of ceramic, it wasn't that heavy. She stared at the jar for a moment, held it tightly to her body unable to move for that moment. When she knew she was done sobbing she left the place. She also planned to return to the house and get her things. She reached the house and notices it was quiet she wanted to call out to Harrison but shoved it off. She wasn't even ready to

She didn’t answer. Her eyes were just fixed on him.“I saw the ambulance leaving earlier,” Harrison continued, glancing over his shoulder as if trying to piece together what had happened. “What happened here?”Her eyes were blinking in disbelief, she said nothing until her lips parted slowly, her voice low,“What are you doing here? I mean how did you I'll here”.She realized then that he had knew about everything all along, “ was he playing with her”, she asked herself. The question landed hard on Harrison, he had been caught off guard. His hands slipped away slowly from her shoulders.“I—I was worried,” he stammered. “You weren’t picking up your calls so….”“— so what?”, carmilla cut in”, her stare intensified, cutting into him like a blade. Her voice was cold. She scoffs,“I’ve never told you about this place. I’ve never brought you here. And Sandra… Sandra said she didn’t give you the address. So how are you here?”He just froze, with her words echoing in his head, there was no po

Harrison stretches his body, his eyes blinking open slowly to the stillness of the room. His hand brushing over the cool sheet where Carmilla should have been. The quiet absence made the remains of the sleep in his eyes to go.Sitting up, he glanced around the room there was no sign of her. He got up to check the bathroom and called her name but there was no response, he opened the door to the bathroom only to see it was empty. He thought of checking the kitchen which he did but the house was quiet, leaving only him in it. He didn't want to worry about anything “ maybe she went for a jog”, he told himself, heading back into the room.He reached for his own phone and dialed her number. There was no response, He stared at the screen, for the time and it was just two hours before it became afternoon.“ If she went jogging, she would have been back by now, where the hell is she?”, He ran a hand through his hair, trying to stay calm, not overthinking it.He couldn't, so he just scrolled th

There was silence between the two on their way back home. Harrison was just focused on the road while carmilla sat quietly beside him. Sometimes she had steal glances from him every minutes. She tried to read him, to see if there was something in his expression that would explain the embrace he gave her earlier or maybe his apology. The hug he gave her, the weight of it, and his whispers “I’m sorry” in her ear. It clung to her. Sorry for what?, But she didn’t ask not because she didn't want, she just felt her questions might be another burden.Sometimes there are moments where people are meant to be given space and those moments call for silence, and she understood that. Harrison turned to her, his voice so low as if he was whispering.“How was the movie? Did you enjoy it?”Carmill
