CHAPTER 4

Olivia

I already applied to seven different companies hiring secretaries.

I know the vacancy I was applying for wasn’t worth my standard of education, but I am more likely to not get the job if I applied for something better.

Before dad came home, I took my bath and changed into my pencil black skirt and white shirt.

Another day as a waitress in that stupid bar.

When would it ever end?

I packed my hair into a tight pony tail before heading out.

It might take a while before I got responses from the companies I applied for. Till then, I have to retain the only job I have left.

Hopefully, I wouldn’t be hitting anyone tonight and running off with just an apron.

Asher

Sebastian didn’t support my plan, I knew that but he could do nothing.

No one could. I had made up my mind already.

I wasn’t one to spend time in clubs nor coffee shops. Most of my time was spent at the office, working while the remaining fraction; at my house, still working.

Whenever I felt needy, I just called on one of my fuck buddies to spend time with, at an hotel.

Sebastian had suggested that we went to the bar. According to him, it was one of the easiest places to find a suitable girl.

I wanted to protest, but I was already desperate enough to do that.

“So you’re still pushing through with this crazy idea of yours?” Sebastian asked me, staring outside my car.

“We wouldn’t be on our way to the bar if I wasn’t” I answered him without sparing him a glance.

“What makes you think this is a good idea?” He asked me.

Obviously, he was ready to do anything to stop me.

“Because my ideas are always good Seb, always.” I answered him and he only huffed.

My response managed to shut him up until we got to the bar.

Just as I was about to unbuckle my seat belt, Sebastian’s hand gripped mine.

I frowned at him and he returned my frown with a frown.

“If you want to get a girl in there Asher, be as nice as possible. No girl wants to be with a mean dude.” He said before letting go.

“First, we’re not being together. And secondly, with a wave of my black card, every girl in there would lose her dignity, self respect and whatever principles she must have laid down for herself.” I responded before taking off my seat belt.

Sebastian only stared at me for a few seconds before getting down.

I did too.

As we made our way into the bar, I felt all eyes on us. I knew even guys were staring.

I wanted to go to the VIP lounge, but Sebastian stopped me.

“You would barely find ladies in there Asher. Try to mix with people for once. It helps.” He said.

Unwillingly, I followed him to one of the empty spots we found.

We were barely seated when my phone chimed with a message from Sammy. He was one of my close buddies from school, dude was damn good with tech shits.

Well, even billionaire’s need to have acquaintances like this around. You can never tell when you might need them, like I did right now.

Sebastian passed me a questioning look which I ignored.

I felt humiliated about what the cleaner had done to me earlier today. I wanted to punish her, make her pay but before I could even digest the fact that she had slapped me, she walked out of the shop.

I had hired Sammy to do a background check on her. I bet there’s something I can use against her to make her sorry for what she had done.

I’m not one to let people off so easily, not even for the slightest mistake.

Olivia Anderson, aged 24. Resides in the less urbarn parts of Broodsview city. Graduated from the University of California at age 23. Has just one parent; a father. Works two jobs; one at downtown coffee shop in the morning, and the other at Mark’s special bar, in the evenings. She…….

I didn’t bother to check any other information Sammy had sent to me.

Olivia, the tiny person, the cleaner, works here?

So she might be here right now?

Wow.

I guess it’s really a small world.

With her standard of living, I understand why that filthy piece of cloth was so important to her.

I shook off flashes of her petite figure, looking around at the seductive stares girls were offering Sebastian and I.

Ugh! Women!

One time, they are trying to seduce you, befriend you and date you, the other time, they are trying to embezzle everything you have, leaving you stranded and heart broken.

I wonder how Seb got himself tangled up in such mess in the first place.

“What?!” He eyed me when he noticed I was glaring at him.

Before I could ask him how he got involved with his ex, for the umpteenth time, I heard a familiar voice beside me.

For a split second, I just wanted to feel the warm sweetness of that calm voice, until I realized it belonged to the one person I wanted to crush right now.

“Hi, I’m Olivia and I will be your waitress for the night. Can I take your order? If you’re having trouble picking something from the menu, I will be happy to help.” Olivia Anderson said.

I turned my head to her direction.

I almost laughed at the funny look that suddenly replaced her smiley face.

She was so cute with her dimples, now she just looked like she had seen a monster.

Wait, no!

She isn’t cute!

Nothing about black people is special.

“Hi.” Sebastian waved at her and she managed to smile back at him.

She looked really frightened to see me.

“Small world isn’t it Olivia Anderson?” I asked her grinning wickedly at her.

She and Sebastian had surprise looks on their faces. Then I remembered I hadn’t told Seb I had requested for a little digging into her life.

“H……h…how do you know my name?” She stuttered.

My lips pursed.

So she really didn’t care to know who she had openly and happily humiliated.

“I’m Asher Smith. I can do know whatever I want to know, as long as I care to know.” I said to her and Sebastian passed me a dramatic eye roll.

“Well, what would you like to have?” She asked me, angrily.

“This is no way to talk to potential customers, right Seb?” I turned to Seb, smiling and he only looked away.

She sighed, frustrated, “I’m sorry sir. How may I help you?” She asked with clenched teeth.

“ Still not the right tone.” I grinned even widely.

“I see a slap wasn’t enough for you, Mr.” She grinned back.

“And I see losing one job isn’t enough for you.” I sank into the seat, savouring the shocked expression on her face.

She moved back a little, surprised.

“Asher, this is not what we’re here for.” Sebastian said, sounding pissed.

“Olivia, we’ll just have water.” Sebastian added.

She shook her head vigorously before leaving.

“What was that all about Asher?” Sebastian turned to me once Olivia was out of sight.

“I think I’ve found a potential girlfriend.” I simply said to him, smiling.
