September 2021, India
Zayed was standing leaning onto the first car in which Ameya is already seated. He was waiting for Aveline to come out of the airport.
They had landed in India an hour ago, but they couldn't land in the airport they had initially planned to ,because of some weather conditions.
So, now they will have to travel by road to reach Delhi ,where they are to meet the Malhotras.
As he turned around to talk to the driver, he saw a flash of yellow dashing to what she assumed to be the relative safety of the second car.
He allowed himself a smile as he finished what he wanted to say to the driver, before closing the door and striding towards it himself.
Shock turned her hazel brown eyes wide as he
slid into the seat alongside her. A moment later she turned both her face and body away, shrinking against the door as if she might will herself right through it,and his feeling of satisfaction deepened.
She was terrified of him.
Strange how that knowledge had altered his long-held vow.
Six years ago, he'd never wanted to see her again.
And ever since then he'd always believed that what she'd killed that day was better left buried, his memories of his time with her buried along with it.
Being forced to share the same space with her for two days or more should have been the very last thing on his agenda.
And yet seeing her squirm and cower in his
presence. Oh, yes, this way was infinitely more satisfying than he could have ever imagined.
He took advantage of the space she left, angling himself to stretch out his legs in the space between them, and even though she didn't look, didn't turn, he knew she was aware of every move he made, knew it in the way she shrank herself into an even smaller space.
Oh, yes, infinitely more satisfying.
Why did he have to travel in this car if he needed so much legroom? Ava battled to control her breathing, willing away the tears that pricked at her eyes even as she wedged herself harder against the very edge of the wide seat, squeezed tight against the door, too hot and much too bothered by this man who seemed to think he owned the entire world, if not the entire vehicle.
Maybe he did-he is an Ahmed. A royalty. But that didn't change the fact he was going out of his way to make her feel uncomfortable.
But why?
He hated her. She can see it in his behavior. He might as well have announced it to the world.
And he knew she knew that.
Didn't he think it was enough, just knowing it? Did he think he had to prove it by insisting she come with him, just so he could keep showing her how little he thought of her?
She leaned her head against the window and squeezed her eyes closed, trying to concentrate on the warmth of the glass against her cheek and shut out the image of the long, lean body beside her, trying to think of anything but-and still she could see him clearly in her mind's eye.
But then, when would she ever not be able to picture him clearly?
Pain sliced through her, deep and savage, old
wounds ripping open so jaggedly that she had to bury her face in her hands and cover her mouth to stop herself from crying out.
What was the point of bringing it all back?
It was so long ago, and times had changed.
Except Zayed hadn't.
He was magnificent. A man in his prime.
A man who hated her.
"Is something wrong?"
His voice tangled with her thoughts, and she opened her eyes to see that they had left the city behind. Only the occasional houses or business lined the highway out of the city.
Two days she must spend in his company, and he had to ask if something was wrong? What did he think?
"I'm fine" she answered softly.
There was no point saying what she really thought or what she really felt. She'd learned that lesson the hard way.
"You don't look fine."
"I'm sorry to offend you" she retorted tartly.
She jumped in her seat when her phone pinged indicating an incoming call and she looked at it and saw the caller ID saying Mom
Ava smiled. Around an year ago ,Zahir had asked who Victor and Lizzy is to her. And Ava had told him that they were her parents.
Then he demanded to know why Ava calls them by name if they are her parents.
The kids are too young to know her complicated life.
So, to placate Zahir, Ava had said Victor and Lizzy didn't want anyone to know they they are older and that she calls them Mom and Dad secretly and had thus changed the contact name in her phone to let him know that.
Why is she calling now? Ava wondered.
Are the kids okay?? Did something happen to them??
"Aren't you going to pick up the call" Zayed asked
She picked up the call and all the tension and pain she felt ever since she saw Zayed that morning, flew out of her mind when she heard the voice of her elder son, Zahir.
"Momma" came the kid's voice from the other side of the phone
"You are still awake??" She asked, as it must be 10 at night in London.
"I miss you Mummaa" he said. Though he won't admit it aloud, he is secretly a momma's boy.
Cute isn't he??
"Aww. I miss you too baby" she said with a contented smile
"Want to sleep with you Mummaa" he said and Ava sighed.
"Two days baby. Then we can cuddle to sleep okay" Ava said sweetly and he hummed.
"Good night mumma. Love you" he said
"Love you too baby" she said and hung up the phone..
Arghh! She miss her babies like crazy
"Who the hell was that???"

"I, Zayed Ahmed al Zidra, hereby accept my role as the ruling Sheikh of the Sultanate of Zidra. I shall continue to preserve, and build upon the royal legacy and shall reign with righteousness for the benefit and happiness of the people forever" Zayed vowed, as he stood on the podium, with his right palm over his chest and his eyes staring straight ahead at the people of Zidra. "I invite everyone here to share my determination and work together for the nationâs prosperity and the peopleâs happiness as the ultimate goals" Zayed added His brothers were standing on either side as he made his vows to his nation and his people. The ceremony was followed by a large feast for the entire Zidra. The security has been strengthened as there were many people attending the ceremony, including dignitaries from the other countries. "Papa, there is a baby there. Zaif is playing with him" Zada said excitedly, pointing at the one year old baby boy playing with little Zaif. There was a green eyed g
Arabian Nation Of Zidra "So? Ready to take on the role?" Salim asked with a smile "As ready as I could ever be" Zayed said grumpily "You are born for this, Zayed. This is your birthright. You are going to love it" Salim said "No. You are wrong. It was your position, Salim. I don't think I will ever be able to overcome that fact. And how will I love something that I was never prepared for?" Zayed asked Salim chuckled. "Seven years ago, you were an artist, Zayed. A reclusive artist who had no interest in anything other than the artworks he created'' Salim pointed out "So? What's your point?" Zayed asked in irritation "And then you stepped into Zidra's oil business. Do I need to remind you that you excelled in it?" Salim asked "That's different" Zayed argued "Not really. Business is something you never fancied. Yet, over the years you started enjoying the thrill it gives. You love Zidra and our people, so there is no doubt that you are going to love this" Salim said "He is righ
SWEDEN"Just two more days" Zayed said with a sigh"We will take short vacations like this in the future too. Stop getting anxious about it. I know you are going to take a very important responsibility. One you weren't prepared for. But I am sure you will do it perfectly" Aveline said with a smile."I hope so" Zayed said"Where is Zian?" Zayed asked, seeing Zahir and Zada running around inside the house."He is outside. With Rocky" Aveline said"I think someone is moving in next door" Zayed said"Oh? Who said?" Aveline asked"I just saw the real estate agent who arranged this cottage for us. She was waiting for her clients. She said the deal is an almost done deal" Zayed said with a shrug."Papa! Papa! Can we have pizza? Pretty please?" Zada asked, running towards me."I want that one with cheese inside" Zahir demanded Of course, you wouldn't hear a please from him. Ever!"What have momma taught you, Zahir? When you ask for something?" Zayed asked sternly"But Zada already said it fo
"Last week of freedom" Zayed mumbled against Aveline's shoulder, as they cuddled closer in the bed. They were in Scotland, having a family vacation before taking over the throne and getting themselves involved in the matters of the nation."Sometimes it scares the hell out of me" Aveline said, and Zayed tightened his grip around her.He could understand that. He himself is worried.Taking over a position he was never prepared for."We will go through this together. And together we will be stronger" he said"I know" Aveline said with a smile"Are the little monsters asleep?" Zayed asked, dreading the moment they would come beating down their bedroom door.Aveline chuckled seeing the disgruntled look on her husband's face."They are. They were tired as hell after the long journey. Hopefully they will sleep through the night" Aveline said"Oh I really do hope," Zayed said, making Ava laugh."I think it's about time we taught them about privacy. They just can't always barge into our bedro
*At school* "I will miss you, Emily" Zada said hugging Emily tightly. It was their last day at school. They might never meet the kindergarten friends again. "I will miss you too. And I will miss Zian also" Emily said and Zahir made a face at that Aaron stood there with a fallen face. His first crush is going far away. "Momma and Papa is here" Zian said as he saw his parents walking towards them with baby Zaif secure in their arms. Emily grinned seeing the wrapped up baby. "Aunty? You took the baby out of your tummy? Wow!!" Emily asked excitedly. The last time she saw them, the baby was inside the aunt's tummy and she was dying to see the baby after it comes out. Maybe I should tell Maa and Paa that I also want a baby, she thought to herself. Aveline smiled seeing the little girl's excitement. "Haa. The baby got bigger, so we took him out" Aveline said with a soft smile "Can I see? Can I see?" Emily asked jumping on her feet and trying to take a peek at the little one. "No.
A few months later, LondonZayed was on a call from Salim."So? All wound up?" Salim asked"Almost. It's the last day of school for the brats. Then a short vacation at Scotland and we will be back to Zidra" Zayed explained his plans to his older brother, who was currently handling the political issues in Zidra, with Karim and Khalil."Scotland? When was that plan made?" Salim asked in confusion, because he was unaware of it until now"Made plans today morning only. Want a week for ourselves away from everything, before I take up the big responsibility" Zayed said, still dreading the huge responsibility waiting for him."Okay then. Have a good stay. I have a friend in Scotland. He has a resort there. I can make arrangements for you there" Salim offered "Uh no, Salim. I want to stay somewhere low key. Where nobody knows us." Zayed said and Salim hummed in understanding "Okay then, brother. See you in a week. And ask Basim to stop dilly dallying there. He came over there directly after
A couple of months later, The Ahmed Palace was decked up like a bride for the their national day celebrations The Ahmed brothers did the main prayer together as usual. "Let the bond only get stronger, touchwood," Fatima, their grandmother, said, warding off any evil eyes with a hand gesture. After the brothers did the aarti, Zayed and Basim stepped back so that their sister in law and Salim could do the prayer. No matter what, Salim and Camille will always do it together first. They aren't going to change that tradition to please anybody. "Zayed, please hold Anya for a moment" Camille said, handing over her one month old precious bundle to Zayed who took her happily. "Awwlee Is uncle's cutie pie awake?? Are you bored?? Don't worry, you will have a little brother or sister to play with and boss around soon" Zayed said cuddling the baby closer. Once Salim and Camille did the prayer, Salim took his daughter from Zayed and cuddled her closer. Zayed walked over to a heavily pregna
âHow are you taking it?â Zayed asked, wrapping an arm around his wifeâs bulging tummy from behind, as she stood near the window, gazing into the deserts. âHonestly? Feelings are mixedâ Aveline said with a deep sigh âYou know you can share anything with me, habibtiâ Zayed murmured against her ears. Aveline leaned back against his chest and placed her hands above his. âI knowâ âThen tell meâ Zayed prompted âI am happy that you are embracing your birthright, Zayed. But at the same time, I know you never wanted this. Your passion is art. And you had to give it up and choose business due to many circumstances in your life. One being meâ Aveline said âIt's not because of youâ Zayed protested âAnd now when you start enjoying this business field, another change. I am worried it will affect you emotionally to a greater extent than you imagineâ Aveline said and a smile grazed his lips, revelling in her concern for him. âI have you by my side. Why should I worry thenâ Zayed said and Avel
