CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE.Adele and Jamal fought almost all day, but still stayed together in that same ward. The nurses and doctors checked on Adele from time to time as per Jamal’s instructions and it was finally evening."Doctor, are you sure she is strong enough to go home? Don't you think she should stay the night so she can be monitored?" Asked Jamal as the doctor took out the cannula from Adele's hand. Her drip was finished and the other nurses had already helped her put on her own clothes"What?" She asked aghast, giving Jamal a fierce gaze. "What did you just say?""I was talking to the doctor, not you, Adele.""But you were most definitely talking about me and that's a cause for concern!" She scolded and the doctor looked at her in awe. He was petrified at the fact that she was raising her voice at Jamal. He was her boss!"Doctor, I asked you a question." Jamal turned back to the doctor who swallowed hard before looking at him."Miss Mackenzie is still stable and like we said, she
CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX.Jamal's alarm sounded at exactly six am and he snapped his eyes open. He attempted to rise up from the bed, but he felt some weight on his right arm. That's when he turned around and saw Adele sleeping peacefully on it and a smile formed on his face.Memories of what happened the previous night flooded his mind and he slapped his forehead with his free left hand and groaned in frustration. He had a nightmare which Adele witnessed and when he woke up, he told her his big secret and then begged her to stay the night in her arms. He had known that he would sleep peacefully in her arms and that's exactly what happened. For the first time in many months, he had slept like a baby.No nightmare about his baby, because he had spent the night with the baby's mother. He looked down at Adele one more time and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN.Adeke decided to go grocery shopping on her day off. Her colleagues called to ask how she was faring, including Grace and she was shocked. Grace had asked her to report to work the next day unfailingly and she had accepted. When she parked her car in the driveway, she checked her purse to make sure that her credit card and shopping list was intact. She wanted to shop for groceries so that the next time Jamal came to her house, she would be the one to cook for him."Cook for him?" She voiced out her thoughts and scoffed! "I am not supposed to be anticipating something like that! Why am I even welcoming the thought of bringing him to my house again?" She asked furiously. "He hurt me, I hate him and we are never going to be together again. Period!" She said to herself as she opened the car door and stepped out of it. She then closed it and swung her hand bag on her left arm and walked into the grocery store. She went straight to the chicken section and began looking
CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT.Adele drove back home with mixed emotions. She was seriously angry at the fact that Danielle attempted to play the victim in everything that had happened when it was in fact because of her that she had a miscarriage. If Danielle had not organized an urgent meeting that night, she(Adele) would not have fought with Jamal that night and he would not have pushed her to the ground. Everything that happened was Danielle's fault and Adele hated the fact that she was trying to wiggle herself out of it.Nevertheless, she felt relieved that for the past year, Jamal had had nothing to do with her. Rumor had spread countless times in the country that Danielle and Jamal were dating, but Jamal never confirmed any of those rumors because they weren't true.Adele meant everyone she had said to Danielle back there. She was going to make sure Jamal did not end up with Danielle. When she arrived at the building where her apartment was located, she drove into the underground parking

His mother had never said any kind words to Adele since the day she was brought home by grandma."This is too much, mother. You are going to get it hot from me when I get home." Kelly even brought her a box of chocolates as a gift to get her to recover quicker and she was very grateful to her.Her morning had gone smoothly, but after lunch break, her head began to ache unexpectedly. She couldn’t do anything and her temperature was high. Grace was furious, but had no choice but to let her leave the office early. She passed by the health care unit to get consulted before heading back home. She was about to call Jamal and tell him that she was not feeling too well, but she remembered that she was mad at him because he did not call back the previous day as promised. She had been waiting all day and for the better part of the night for his call, but it didn't come through and even when she called at night, his number didn't go through. She was disappointed. She had gone to bed with her heart and with a million thoughts running on her mind. She thought of the possibility th
CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE.“It’s going to be a long story, so brace yourself.” Jamal warned and Adele nodded her head in agreement. She was ready to sit and listen to him all night if that's what it was going to take.“I’m ready.”“Good. So, back when I was eighteen years old, which means when I was in my first year in college, my interest in business was growing enormously bigger, same as my interest in you. I was in my first year in college, studying business and instead of travelling the world and spending the glorious days of my youth doing something fun, I didn’t do any of that because my greatest passion was the world of businesses even at that young age. As a result, I was impatient and I wanted to learn from the man I looked up to as soon as possible. I wanted to follow the steps of the best teacher in the country, my father.” He smiled.“I naturally started to go more often to Dominick Co which was under my father's management at the time. I watched my father carefully and I learn
CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO.Jamal and Adele ended up spending the night together again. After hearing all that Jamal had to say, Adele couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy for having such a selfish father. A father who would choose to put his son’s life and reputation on the line just to save his company.Jamal went ahead to tell her how he had promised himself to take everything his father owned and he had succeeded in doing just that. Adele was proud of all that he had overcome.Slowly she felt the hatred she had for him in her heart die down. His reason was, to some extent, valid.Jamal left Adele's apartment that morning and returned back to the mansion to freshen up and prepare for work. He was all smiles that morning as he walked into the living room at the mansion. The fact that he had explained to Adele the reason for his cruel behaviour made him feel like a heavy weight had been uplifted from his shoulders. "Jamal." A voice called from the staircase and he looked up, only to see
