CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX.Jamal drove straight home from Adele's apartment. He was still greatly shaken by the divorce papers she had sent to him. His heart was still palpating hard in his chest.He had known she would think of filing for a divorce, but he didn't know it would be so soon. The fact that Adele was so mad at him to the extent that she wanted to divorce him left him completely devastated.He loved Adele and he wanted to be with her. CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN.Adele had her last hospital appointment at the hospital that morning. The doctor told her she was totally healed and could go on with her physical activities. She was very happy to get the news. She was already sick and tired of coming to that hospital especially as Jamal was the one responsible for paying her medical bills. After her check up sessions, they never asked her for any money, the total bills were always forwarded to Jamal who would pay without any hesitation.As she exited the hospital lobby, her cell phone rang in her bag and she quickly fished it out to see who it was. CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT.After a long day of attending meetings, signing documents and making sure everything in the conglomerate was going on well, it was finally closing time and Jamal couldn't wait to get out of his office. He was feeling tired, so he didn't drive himself. He let his driver and a guard take him home.As they hit the road, he thought of going to see Adele, but on a second thought, he decided to dismiss the idea. They had separated that morning on a very bad foot and he didn't want to get her anymore upset that day. When she told him she was going to spend time with friends, he was happy. He had no idea she had any friends. But he was also worried that she would let the issue of their marriage slip and that would cause a lot of damage.Nevertheless, he trusted Adele. He knew she was never going to do anything that would implicate him, no matter how much she was mad at him. CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE.Adele's work at the publishing agency was no different from what she used to do back at her first job site. She had her office and was in charge of editing and reviewing articles before they were published to the media.She loved her job and her new colleagues. They warmly welcomed her and most of them fell in love with her rich British accent. Sometimes, they asked her questions just so she could talk to them so they could hear her beautiful accent.She loved everything about the workplace and looked forward to helping them grow. CHAPTER FORTY.Jamal was in his study that evening, signing a few documents when he heard a knock on his office door. He wasn't in the mood to talk to or see anyone and so wanted to ignore, but the thought of that being his grandmother who had come with good news crossed his mind and he decided against his decision."Come in." He said out loud and immediately, the door creaked open. He looked up, expecting to see his grandmother, but a wave of disappointment washed through him when he saw his sister, Shannelle, walk into the office with a smile plastered on her face."Hello." CHAPTER FORTY-ONE."Interesting." Adele murmured to herself as she stepped out of the elevator with her eyes focused on her watch. The time read eight pm and she was just returning from work.There was so much work at the office and they all had to work overtime. The good thing was that the next day was Saturday, weekend and she did not have to go to work. All she wanted to do at that moment was go into her apartment and sleep from that time till the next morning because she was very exhausted.As she approached her door, she took out her key from her bag and swiped it on the lock for the door to open up. CHAPTER FORTY TWO.ONE YEAR LATER."Adele!" A voice called from behind as Adele was heading towards the elevator. She immediately stopped on her tracks and turned around to see who it was. A wide smile spread on her face when she saw her colleague, Chase, walking towards her, smiling as well. Chase was a senior editor at the publishing firm himself and he was employed one month after she had been employed.Since they worked together on many projects, they had gotten quite close and many people in the firm thought they were having an affair.Chase himself had been making advances towards her, but she had done her best to keep her distance as she wanted nothing to do with him."Hey, Chase.
