The twins' bedroom door clicked shut as I tucked the last blanket around Austin's shoulders. His breathing had already deepened into sleep, exhausted from our day of snorkeling along the reef. Alex had crashed twenty minutes earlier, mid-sentence about the sea turtle we'd spotted.

I lingered in the hallway, suddenly aware of the quiet house and what it meant—Aria and I, alone, with no business calls, no lawyers, no past hovering between us like a specter. Just us and the endless Caribbean night.

The sliding door to the deck stood partially open, and through the gap, I caught sight of her. Silhouetted against the moonlight, Aria stood at the railing, her hair lifted by the breeze. She'd changed into a simple white sundress that glowed almost blue in the darkness.

My throat tightened. How many nights had I dreamed of her like this? Standing at the edge of something vast and unknowable, somehow both fragile and indestructible at once.

I stepped onto the deck, my bare feet silent against

  • THE BILLIONAIRE SECRET TWIN HEIR    BOOK 3 - Chapter 24: Secrets and Lies

~ Next Day ~"Isabella, sweetheart, you look tired."I freeze at the sound of that voice, my hand gripping the gallery door handle so tight my knuckles go white. The voice that used to read me bedtime stories. The voice that taught me to appreciate Monet's brushstrokes. The voice that lied about where the rent money went, month after month.I turn around slowly, like I'm moving through thick honey, and there he is. Marco Moretti, my father, standing on the sidewalk outside the Walton Gallery like he belongs here. "Dad." The word tastes like ash in my mouth. He looks older. Thinner. His once-proud shoulders curve inward, and there's a desperate gleam in his dark eyes that makes my stomach twist. The expensive suit he's wearing doesn't fool me, it's probably borrowed or stolen, knowing him."You look beautiful, Isabella. Successful." He steps closer, and I catch the faint smell of cheap cologne trying to mask something else. Something that reminds me of the poker rooms he used to disap

  • THE BILLIONAIRE SECRET TWIN HEIR    BOOK 3 - Chapter 23: Isabella's Dilemma

~ Isabella POV ~"You're killing yourself." Tessa's voice cuts through the silence of my apartment like a blade. She's standing in my doorway, holding two cups of coffee and wearing that expression that means she's about to say things I don't want to hear.I don't look up from my laptop screen. "I'm working.""At three in the morning? On a Saturday?" She kicks the door shut behind her and sets one cup on the table next to me. The ceramic clinks against the wood, too loud in the quiet space. "When's the last time you slept?"The question hangs there while I stare at the email I've been typing for the past hour. Something about scheduling a meeting with potential donors. Words that should matter but feel hollow now, like everything else."Isabella."I finally look at her. Tessa's makeup is smudged under her eyes, her usually perfect hair pulled back in a messy bun. She looks like she's been up all night too, probably dealing with some crisis at another event. But she's here, in my apart

I was drowning in my own indecision when my phone rang at seven AM. Tessa's name flashed on the screen, and her voice was tight with panic."Isabella, you need to get to the gallery. Now.""What's wrong?""Just... get here. Please."The urgency in her tone had me dressed and out the door within minutes. The morning air was crisp, autumn finally settling over the city, but I barely noticed. My mind was still reeling from the night before, from Alex's desperate confession and Austin's gentle promise. Two different kinds of love, both overwhelming in their intensity.I heard the shouting before I even reached the gallery's front door."...always been about you, hasn't it? Saint Austin, the golden boy who can do no wrong!"Alex's voice, raw with fury, carried through the glass windows. My blood went cold."That's not—""Don't you dare try to spin this, Austin. Don't you fucking dare."I fumbled with my keys, my hands shaking as I unlocked the door. The main gallery was empty, but I could

I barely made it through my apartment door before the tears started. Three days. Three days since the gala, since I'd walked away from both of them on that terrace, and I still felt like I was drowning. The flowers started arriving the next morning. White orchids from Alex. Sunflowers from Austin. Each arrangement more elaborate than the last, as if they were competing even in their apologies. I'd stopped opening the cards after the first day.My phone buzzed constantly. Texts, calls, voicemails I couldn't bring myself to listen to. Nora had threatened to fly in from Chicago if I didn't start answering, but I wasn't ready. I wasn't ready for any of it.The knock at my door came at eight PM on Thursday. Soft but insistent. I considered ignoring it, but something made me look through the peephole.Alex stood in the hallway, still in his work clothes but rumpled, like he'd been running his hands through his hair. He looked... tired. More tired than I'd ever seen him.I opened the door bu

I hesitated, glancing at Alex. His expression was unreadable, but I caught the slight tightening around his eyes."Go ahead," he said, his voice perfectly level. "I'll be right here."The dance floor was already crowded, couples swaying to the orchestra's rendition of something classic and romantic. Austin pulled me into his arms, and I let myself relax for the first time all evening. Dancing with him felt... easy. Natural. "You're tense," he murmured, his breath warm against my ear."I wonder why," I said, but there was no bite to it.He chuckled, the sound rumbling through his chest. "Fair enough. I'm sorry about the auction thing. That was... childish.""It was.""He brings out the worst in me sometimes." Austin spun me gently, and when I came back to him, his expression was serious. "When it comes to you, I mean."My heart did something complicated in my chest. "Austin...""I know. I know we said we'd keep things professional. But Isabella, I—""May I cut in?"Alex's voice was po

FEW DATS LATER~Isabella POV~The charity gala was supposed to be my moment to prove I could handle this. All of this. The press, the society games, the way people looked at me like I was some fascinating specimen under glass. But standing in front of my hotel room mirror, trying to zip up the back of my black evening gown, my hands wouldn't stop shaking."You're being ridiculous," I whispered to my reflection. The woman staring back at me looked composed enough. Hair swept up in an elegant chignon, makeup perfectly applied by the stylist Tessa had insisted on sending over. But my eyes gave me away. They looked hunted. My phone buzzed on the dresser. Two texts, arriving within seconds of each other.*Alex: Car will be there in ten. You look stunning.**Austin: Ready to make them all jealous tonight? Can't wait to see you.*I stared at the messages, my stomach twisting. How did Alex know how I looked? Then I remembered the flowers that had arrived an hour ago. White orchids with a note
