KAEL POV

“Are you going again?”

The words escape me before I can stop them. My voice is quiet, scratchy, but it stops her.

Selene stands at the door, her hand still on the knob. She turns, and there it is—that smile. Soft. Sweet. Too polished.

“I have to, love,” she says, walking back toward me. “You know the herbs only grow at night.”

I try to sit up, but wince. Fake. Calculated. I’ve been doing this for days now. Weeks maybe. I’m not even sure anymore.

“Don’t leave me tonight,” I whisper. “I’m cold. I feel… worse.”

She kneels beside me, brushing my damp hair from my forehead.

“These herbs are the only reason you’re still breathing,” she says gently. “You know that, Kael.”

“Can’t someone else go?”

She pauses, just for a second. Then smiles again. “No one else knows what to look for. I’ll be back before dawn. I promise.”

She kisses my cheek.

And then she’s gone.

Again.

---

She always leaves at night.

Sometimes for hours. Sometimes days.

When she returns, she smells like smoke and wil

  • THE BROKEN LUNA'S REVENGE:FATED TO MY SISTER'S MATE    CHAPTER 18

SELENE POV I adjusted the soft pearl pin in my hair as I stood just beyond the council chamber doors, a poised smile on my lips. My palms, however, were damp. I'd been waiting all day for the meeting to end.Any moment now…I could already hear their footsteps approaching. The heavy wooden doors creaked open, and the Elders began filing out in their long robes, each offering me warm smiles and nods of approval.“Lady Selene,” Elder Morak said, stopping before me. “That was an impressive speech you gave last week. I must admit, we’ve all been quite taken by your composure and poise.”I smiled demurely. “Thank you, Elder.”Another Elder stepped forward. “We believe you’ll make a fine Luna beside King Lucien. Very soon, we hope.”“I would be honored,” I replied sweetly, lowering my eyes.Elder Morak patted my shoulder. “Don’t worry, child. The formal announcement is only a matter of time. We cannot wait to see you seated where you belong.”Their words danced around me like golden music.

  • THE BROKEN LUNA'S REVENGE:FATED TO MY SISTER'S MATE    CHAPTER 17

RAINA POV The darkness pressed in tight around me. The air was still, heavy, too quiet. I took a cautious step back, my voice barely above a whisper. “Who’s there?” No answer. My heart thundered in my chest, and I turned, ready to bolt— A heavy weight slammed into me from the side. “Ah!” I gasped, my body colliding with the ground. I fought back instinctively, claws partially shifting, panic rising—until I heard a voice. “Damn girl, chill! It’s me!” I froze. “Tara?!” She rolled off me, laughing, her wild curls bouncing as she sat up. “Hey girl, wassup?” “You scared the living hell out of me!” I swatted her arm, then pulled her into a tight hug. We both burst into laughter, clinging to each other like two long-lost souls. “Where the hell have you been?” I asked, pulling back. “I should be asking you that,” she grinned. “But let me go first. I came back from Las Cruces.” My eyes widened. “Las Cruces? As in, the pack near the border? You were serious abou

  • THE BROKEN LUNA'S REVENGE:FATED TO MY SISTER'S MATE    CHAPTER 16

KAEL POV The silence in my room was too loud. It always was these days. I sat at the edge of my bed, fingers gripping the edge of my knees, eyes fixed on the empty space in front of me. Nothing made sense anymore. Not my heart. Not my choices. Not even the woman I thought I loved. Selene. We had history. Real history. Love carved into time itself. Everyone knew it. We were the perfect pair. So why did it all feel wrong? Why did my wolf feel… incomplete? Why was Raina still crawling through my mind like a ghost that refused to leave? I ran a hand down my face and leaned forward, elbows on my knees. Where did it all go wrong? --- I was nine when I arrived at the Frostfang Pack. Filthy. Angry. Alone. I don’t remember my parents' faces. Just smoke. Screams. Blood. The rogues tore through our village like fire, and I was the only one left standing. Dazed. Burned. Starving. Gamma Darius found me and took me in. Said I had the eyes of a survivor. War school harde

RAINA POV I heard the crashing of plates. It jolted me from my half-sleep. I blinked, dazed, cold air seeping through the cracks in the wall. Another crash. Another loud curse. My tiny fingers curled around the edge of the blanket. I stood. Slow. Careful. I crept out of the room and pushed the door open just a crack. My father stood in the kitchen, swaying. Drunk again. His back was to me, and broken ceramic scattered across the floor. His shoulders were tense. His fists, clenched. Then—he turned. At the sound of the creaking door. His eyes found me like a curse latching onto a target. "You." My stomach twisted. "You caused this!" he roared and staggered toward me. I backed up, but not fast enough. His hand fisted my hair, yanking me forward so hard my neck snapped sideways. I cried out, legs scrambling. "You little stain!" he barked. He dragged me through the hallway, my feet barely touching the ground. My scalp burned. My chest heaved with sobs. We reac

LUCIEN POV The council chamber finally cleared after what felt like a lifetime. Hours of talking in circles. The same faces, same questions, and the same damn pressure.Elder Morak, the oldest of the group, gave me a sharp look. “Alpha Lucien, I think we all deserve to know when Selene will officially be named Luna.”I kept my tone neutral. “You’ll know soon. We’re finalizing everything.”Lady Cyra adjusted her veil. “And the heir? Word has it there’s no child yet. Is there any cause for concern?”I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. “There’s no concern. Everything is under control.”They exchanged glances but backed off. Politics. They cared about what things looked like more than what they actually were. The meeting finally ended with a round of forced smiles and thinly veiled warnings wrapped in blessings. When the last elder left, I exhaled slowly and leaned back in my seat.“So, when’s the wedding?” a familiar voice teased.I looked up to see Thorne leaning against a column, arm
