THIRD-PERSON POV

"Wake up, you lazy sow!"

Kyla jolted awake as a bucket of icy water crashed over her face. It stung her nose and flooded down her throat, making her choke and cough violently.

She blinked through tears to see her mother-in-law towering over her like a vulture.

"Mistress Tabitha," Kyla rasped, shivering. "Wh-what are you doing here so early?"

“It’s 5 PM.” Tabitha let out a scornful laugh. "Plus, what a brainless question. Do I need permission to step into my own son's house? Or were you hoping to laze around all day and keep him away from his duties, you shameless leech?" Her lip curled in disgust. "Get up! You're a disgrace. Honestly, you're even uglier when you wake! How he can stand to look at you, I'll never know."

Kyla scrambled out of bed, her movements awkward and careful, but she kept her head ducked. She couldn't believe she had slept the day away.

"Stand up straight!" Tabitha barked. "Don't slouch like some mangy mutt. I want to see exactly what

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   68: We Can’t Go There

KYLA'S POVTormund didn't even care that he had just destroyed what was left of my soul. He slammed the door so hard behind him that the walls shook and a picture frame fell off the nightstand.I didn't even realize I was falling until my knees hit the floor with a dull thud.Sofia was at my side in an instant. She wrapped her arms around me, holding me together while my chest heaved and my vision blurred into a mess of tears. I couldn't breathe. I felt like I was suffocating under the weight of his cruelty."It's okay," she spoke fiercely, rubbing my back. "It's not true, Kyla. None of it is true. He just said all of that to hurt you because he's a coward."I wiped my face quickly and angrily. I scrubbed away the tears with the back of my hand, feeling a sudden, hot surge of rage boiling up in my blood. I was done. I was so, so done."Don't pity me, Sofia," I said, my voice sounding hoarse and strange. "I'm finished. I'm done being the weak little girl who cries in the corner."She s

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   67: My True Heir

KYLA'S POV Tormund stood there in the middle of the room, looking at me like I was something he had found rotting in the woods. His lip curled back in a sneer that made my skin crawl. "I'm still not okay with this wicked woman roaming around my pack freely," he snapped. He pointed his finger at me like I was a disease he was trying not to catch. "Especially when I can feel her happiness through the bond. It's disgusting. I know you're plotting something foul, Kyla. I can feel the excitement in your chest and it makes me sick." Sofia arched a brow, her hand resting on her hip. She wasn't backing down. "So, let me get this straight, Alpha. You're saying the Luna—" she paused on purpose, letting the title hang in the air like a slap to his face, "—I mean, you're saying Kyla is not allowed to be happy? Is that a pack law now?" Tormund scoffed and looked away, his jaw tight. "She doesn't deserve happiness. Not after all the shit she's pulled. Not after the way she tried to ruin everyth

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   66: Let Him In

KYLA'S POV“Do you regret marrying him?”I thought about Sofia’s question for a moment. Even though it caught me off guard, the answer came quickly. "No," I said honestly. "I don't regret the marriage. I regret believing that if I could get him to love me then it would save me. I regret thinking that I needed him to be whole."Sofia nodded like that was exactly the answer she expected to hear. She reached out and squeezed my hand."Well," she said, clapping her hands lightly to change the mood. "Enough sadness for one morning. I have something else to tell you, and I think you're going to like it."I raised an eyebrow. "That sounds dangerous. What are you up to, Sofia?"She grinned, looking like a teenager about to pull a prank. "I got permission to take you off the compound."My head snapped up. "What? Are you serious?""For a short walk," she clarified quickly, seeing my excitement. "Nothing too crazy. Just some fresh air, some real sunlight, and a little movement. It's good for th

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   65: Do You Regret Marrying Him?

KYLA'S POV"Okay," Sofia said slowly. She was standing next to my bed, wrapping the blood pressure cuff around my arm. I watched her pump the little rubber bulb and heard the velcro straining against my skin. Her eyes narrowed as she watched the numbers on the dial drop. "What gives, missy? Because you are definitely in a better mood than you were two nights ago. Your heart rate is steady, and I know for a fact this isn't just a pregnancy glow."I shrugged a little, leaning back against the pillows. I felt lighter than I had in a long time. I turned my head to watch the white curtains move gently in the breeze from the open window. For the first time, the air didn't feel heavy with sadness."I don't know," I admitted, and I actually meant it. "I think I'll be alright, Sofia. I'm finally divorced. The papers are signed, and I'm starting to accept that Tormund and I were never meant to be. I'm moving on."Sofia hummed thoughtfully. She released the pressure on the cuff and pulled it off

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   64: I’m Pregnant

TORMUND'S POVI stared at her, my hand slowly lifting to touch my stinging face. I saw the look in her eyes. She was on the edge of a total breakdown, and if I didn't fix this now, she might do something even worse."Yes," I said quickly, my instincts as an Alpha taking over. I needed to settle her down before she hurt herself or someone else. I reached out and pulled her into my arms, ignoring the way my face burned. "Yes, I hear you, Vivica. I'm sorry."She stayed stiff at first, her heart hammering against my chest, but then she melted into me. She started sobbing, the kind of heavy, desperate sobs that made her whole body shake."Just calm down," I said into her hair. I forced my voice to be steady and deep, even though my gut was twisting with unease. "Nobody is taking your place. I promise you. Nobody ever will. You are my choice."Her breathing started to slow down, but she didn't let go."You're going to be my wife," I added, trying to sound firm and sure. "We are going to lea

  • THE BURNT FACE LUNA   63: I Am The Only Woman

TORMUND'S POV"Hmmm..." I groaned in my sleep, my body feeling heavy and warm against the silk sheets. I was in that hazy space between dreaming and waking where everything feels soft and perfect. My senses were tangled, but one thing was clear, my dick felt like it was being sucked on by an angel. There was pressure, a slow heat, and a rhythmic movement that made my toes curl. For a split second, my mind completely betrayed me. I forgot who was in my room. I forgot about the war, the pack, and the mess I had made of my life. "That feels so fucking good, Kyla..." I let out, my voice sounding rough and lazy in the quiet room. The second the name left my mouth, the world exploded.CRUNCH."FUCK!"I jolted fully awake with a roar of pure agony. I didn't just wake up, I launched myself off the bed. Pain like I had never felt before radiated from my groin, shooting up into my stomach and making my vision go white. I hit the hardwood floor hard, tangled in the expensive sheets and my own f
